Difference of Jango's and Boba's armor

Post by Lord Revan »

What things are Different In Boba Fett's Armor compared to his "father" Jango Fett's armor?

I'm sorry if this has already dealt with.

Well, its the same armour, just by the time we see Boba in it, it's more scuffed up, and repainted. He added a few things too it, like the MM-9 missile launcher, and removed a few things (he doesn't wear any of the plates that go on your legs, other than the knee protectors). Mostly, it's just a different armament, with a bit of customization.

It's not actually repainted. Boba Fett uses Jaster Mereel's old armour, which Jango kept after he was killed.

What is labeled as a radio transmitter on Boba's armor we see is a targeting reticulal (sp?) on Jango's in AOTC.

And what does this have to do (if anything) with "The Mandalorians"?

I've heard bits and pieces about them, but not sure where to start looking for this stuff...

Jango is Mandalorian of the Fett clan (In KOTOR Last name=clan name.)

arf? I though the Mandalorians were an old warrior race in the sith wars... AFAIK Many Clone Troopers had an armour similiar to Jango Fetts(SW:Battlefront Republic Trooper as best example) and Boba used Jango's for a while until he got himself a real Mandalorian armour

for the record i always was dump enough to think that Jaster Mereel was Boba Fett...

That'd be the fault of either Tales of the Bounty Hunters or the Bounty Hunter Wars trilogy (or possibly both); one states outright that Boba Fett was Jaster Mereel.
It's Rogue, not Rouge!

I just wondered what the "current story" was on them since Lucas decided not to have them fight against the Jedi (like we "all thought they would" via Lucas's hint-dropping over the years) in the prequels (well, except Jango, for his part, assuming he's even supposed to be one).

They actually do fight and are defeated by the Jedi in the EU (that band of Jedi, which Dooku was the leader of, were the unwitting assassins in a civil war/coup within the Mandalore forces).

Although not every story element is always intended to be included at some later time. Some things are just created for ease of production and design.

So when does this happen?

As far as what was supposed to happen, this is what the clone wars were thought to be about. Instead we get the Seperatists vs. the Republic. Not that I have a problem with that. But this is news to me, so I'm curious.

Where's it labelled as a radio transmitter? What are we talking about again?

So 0-10 years prior to TPM or something like that?

And so are the Mandalores/Mandalorians part of the Republic, or some "outside" planet-state or something? How big/important are they?

Not certain. The EU is full of contradictory sources. The Tales of the Jedi comics say that the Mandalorians are descendants of warriors with unknown origins; Tales of the Bounty Hunters has them being some warrior clan on Concord Dawn; and the post-AOTC comics have what I regard as being the most credible explanation.

My memory's patchy (I haven't read 'em in a long time, I basically paged thru them at a Barnes and Noble)... however, the gist of it was that the "Mandalorian Warriors" are actually a band of mercenaries referred to/call themselves the Journeymen Protectors, led by Jaster Mereel (who TOTBH and TBHW says is Boba Fett... now proven bunk by AOTC, but anyway). There's a revolt in the Protector ranks, led by this yazabo (forgot his name) who believes that the long-held honor code and all is holding back the Protectors; Yazabo's gang destroys a farm on Concord Dawn, killing Jango Fett's parents. Jango is adopted by Mereel, things go on from there... to sum it up, the Jedi kill off the Mandalorians for one reason or other, Jango kills the idiot, and goes on to a solitary existence as a bounty hunter...

On topic? That viewfinder thing, I think, is that antenna on Boba's helmet... in ESB, the short clip where they show Boba in the cockpit of Slave I, the thingamajug on his helmet that's folded down but in other scenes is up.
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.

The OT ICS, I think. Could be wrong, though.

The ICS doesn't have Boba Fett- he's not a vehicle. :)

Ah, crap. I thought it had his armor next to Slave I for some reason. Must be something else, but I remember seeing a diagram that labelled the antenna thing with the box on top on his helmet as a radio transmitter. Actually, it's online somewhere. Someone once linked to it in this very forum. It was a long time ago, though.

IIRC It's in the SW VD (Visual Dictionary, not venereal disease).
