John Kerry on The Daily Show Tuesday

Post by Marksist »

John Kerry will be on the Daily Show Tuesday night.

I was just thinking, has Bush ever been on any of these comedy shows? Like Letterman, Leno, Daily Show, etc.? I don't think he has, but, I'm not completely sure. I would imagine not since they all shit on him. But, Jon Stewart has also been pretty harsh on Kerry.

Why would you want to be on a comedy show that makes you the centerpiece of it's comedy? It can do nothing but hurt your numbers.

I agree completely, I hope Jon actually asks some no-BS good questions that the Daily Show is known for.

Bill Clinton appeared on The Daily Show, as will John Kerry. Bill Clinton also appeared on Letterman. And I back during Clinton's Presidency, he was the centerpiece of comedy on The Late Show. Also, John Kerry has been the butt of many jokes on The Daily Show lately, but, he is still going to appear on the show.

I suppose that's true, but I think Bush knows he'd make a fool of himself.

Because if you handle the interview deftly enough, you not only manage to make everyone laugh as well, but you also gain respect. Remember, if you can laugh at yourself, then you've gained the respect of many around you.

Bush has been on Leno and I would guess Letterman as well. He also did something for the SNL 2000 Presidential special.

wow! Never knew Bush was on SNL or Leno. That's pretty interesting, too bad I missed those. :D

But I'm almost positive he wasn't on Letterman, I remember throughout the entire 2000 campaign Letterman would have a segment almost every night about how Gore accepted invitation to have a debate on The Late Show, but Bush declined. And I watched Letterman quite often for the last few years. I could be wrong about that one though.

In 2000, Bush was on Letterman live via satellite. He made fun of Letterman's recent quintuple bypass surgery, IIRC. That's all I remember though, because it was possibly the 5th most inappropriate thing he could've said.

I hope he nails it. The Daily Show is a great forum, and Stewart makes a point of not mocking his in-studio guests. I will watch that with great eagerness and anticipation!

Kerry gets a great chance to present his political stances and get huge amounts of exposure to a young politically interested audience that watches the Daily Show. He better as hell not waste it.

To show that you're a good sport, you moron.

By the way, did anyone like Rob Corrdry's report from Vietnam tonight?

Have you noticed that while most people in here choose to calmly explain to me why, you resort to calling me a moron? Just curious, do you think this enhances your argument? And btw, being a good sport probably doesn't amount to the amount of damage it could do to someone like Bush who has problems enough with public speaking.

So public exposure of his personal ideals, beliefs and opinions on policy would be bad for his campaign.
Good thing he has that propoganda team to roll shit away from him and build up his many 'successes' as the reason he ought to be re-elected.

Well thanks for just dismissing my point without acknowledging it. Bush is the president of the United States, he can get onto any show he wants. I really doubt that is the leading candidate to get his air time. And as I said before, he realizes that public speaking is not his forte' and sometimes ends up hurting him more than helping him. Besides, unlike Kerry, most people know what Bush stands for on most all of the issues.

I remember when Ann Coulter was on the Daily Show. I could almost see the fear in Jon Stewart's eyes when he realized that she was for real.

I remember Bush being on Letterman during the 2000 campaign. The reason I remember is because the dumbass was caught on camera (it was during a commercial break, but still) cleaning his glasses on the shirttail of one of Dave's assistants. Of course, Dave made fun of him for the next week or so, and showed the clip many times.

Recently, I can only remember Laura Bush doing interviews on such shows recently, but not President Bush. However, I do remember seeing both of them on Larry King. Not exactly the same thing, but it's still an interview, I suppose.

I like when John McCain and Bob Dole do interviews, because they aren't afraid to be the butt of a joke, nor is Clinton or Al Gore (which makes sense, since at least one of his daughters wrote for Futurama). Those tend to be gold.

Twice, actually. His head was the first Emperor of the Moon, and he wrote two books "Earth in the Balance" and the more popular "Harry Potter and the Balance of Earth". Also, in the past, he led a group of top nerds to protect the space-time continuum (Fry: "I thought your job was to cast the deciding vote in the Senate." Gore: "And protect the space-time continuum! Haven't you read the Constitution?").
