THE GREAT LEADER'S WIFE HAS DIED *sob*

FR post translating a foreign language paper

Kim Jong-il's Wife, Ko Yong-hee, died on Aug. 13

08/30/04

Ko Yong-hee(age:51), the wife of N. Korean leader Kim Jong-il, died of heart failure at the dawn of Aug. 13, highly credible Chinese sources on N. Korea confirmed on Aug. 30.

The sources revealed that they had verified Ko's death through multiple channels, adding that they had already had her funeral without making a public announcement, in order to follow the policy of keeping Kim Jong-il's personal life private and also out of fear that power struggles may erupt over who is going to succeed Kim.

According to N. Korean observers, Ko, who was originally an ethnic Korean in Japan, was the only Kim's woman who actually played the role of a first lady. The other two, late Sung Hye-rim and Kim Young-sook did not.

Although the direct cause of Ko's death is heart failure, she was treated for breast cancer(the cancer of mammary gland) a few years ago. It had recurred again last year. The realistic chance of her full recovery turned out to be almost nil, it has been learned.

In addition to this, she sustained serious head injury last September, which further damaged her health. Because of this, french medical team made a highly secret trip to N. Korea last year (to treat her.) This year she had undergone the treatment for her tumor and her brain in general.

Seriously. He actually seemed to care about his wife, so I hope that this doesn't drive him even more nuts than he already is.

Jesus Christ. Did you just use the words "Kim Jong Il" and "care" in the same sentence?!

Maybe we'll get lucky and this will give him some perspective.

Now, that's a very good thing to hope for. And not entirely unrealistic...
Here's to hope, eh? :?

Man that would have been cool though.

It'll be interesting to see if it tips him over the edge or not.

So, was this heart failure or "heart failure"?

Leaning towards "heart failure". Probably because of the serious head injury that was included.

"Interesting" isn't necessarily a good thing, you know. See Also: Ancient Chinese Curse.

But yeah, there are some things that are tragic no matter what power-hungry idiot it happens to. For once, Dear Leader, you have my sympathy.
