lol. This is kind of funny since they've been trying to so hard to garner the youth vote. However, the same thing COULD have happened to the Bush girls too. Then again, I highly doubt they'd attend an MTV event like that.

They were probably booing them because they wouldn't show them their boobs. Besides, it's the Drudge Report. That story could very eaily be untrue/way out of context.

Kind of tasteless, though. You're not even supposed to plug your new album or movie at this kind of thing, let alone campaign. Of course I don't think they quite deserved to be booed like that.

If you read the article, they were booed from the moment they took the stage before they said anything, at least that's the impression I got. If you want to talk about tasteless, talk about that audience.

And not supposed to plug your new album? Have you ever watched those things? The announcer plugs your albums and movies for you.

Yeah, it's Drudge, after all. Somehow I'm finding it hard to believe that this was just a simple case of "Liberal youth audience boos daughters of liberal presidential candidate" with absolutely nothing else.

Kerry's family may in fact be one of his biggest stumbling blocks coming up. They're a wild-card that can only serve to hurt him since his wife is a complete bitch and his daughters don't do anything for him.

I haven't seen this story reported anywhere else. Something tells me that Drudge took a photo and just made something up to run with it.

Sounds like they were booing the appearance of politics in the VMAs - the Bush twins got booed, too.

Watched it on the news today and it was as the OP said. There was an initial loud booing that I guess came from the upper level and/or back of the audience. There was some cheering from the front but it was unable to overcome the boos.

It is unknown if there were any reaction to the Bush daughters who appeared via video. I was unable to hear the audience during their appearance. I assume the director turned off any external mics.

You can also search Google news for plenty of reports of this.

I've searched for the terms "kerry daughters mtv booed" and come up with hardly anything. Could you post a link?

i watched the VMAs and I can truthfully say YES they were booed. The bush twins talked via taped video (since they are at the convention) but they didnt ask anyone to vote for their father (unlike the kerry girls did) so everyone was quiet while they talked...mostly about getting out there and voting. The booing became loudest when they said that they hoped everyone voted for their father.

I just typed in "boos" for Google

CNN

And here's a little interesting tidbit on the CNN article from Juiceenewsdaily, but I'd take that with a grain of salt until I can catch a rebroadcast myself.

The booing wasn't nearly as loud as a lot of the press made it out to be.

What was the crowd's problem initially? From what I've heard, they didn't just walk out and say, "Vote for our dad!" What were they saying in the beginning that got them that kind of immediate reaction?

I don't see why this is a surprise or a story. MTV audiences aren't exactly known for their civilized behaviour, and this is the most divided the nation has been since the Vietnam War. According to the CNN article they carried on the same way during the Bush daughters' segment but the mikes were turned down.

It's just weird because MTV and its fanbase has been traditionally regarded as more liberal and is expected to be very anti-Bush in this election. It's not surprising that they got a few boos, but I haven't seen the clip myself, so it's hard to tell if the media is just exaggerating.

I think it just shows that politics does not have a place everywhere in society. Yes it is important, but at an awards ceremony for music videos? Maybe just a simple non-partisan "Go out and vote" would have sufficed.
