Standard ship size: planetoid ( larger than our moon ).

FTL-Beam weapons with lightseconds/lightminutes range.

hyperspace missiles ( coming through hyperspace, trying to get out WITHIN the target ) with a range of 50+ lightminutes and a speed of 4000 c.

graviton warheads which simulate an event horizon of up to 400000 km radius.

hyperbeams ( put everything they hit into hyperspace ).

cybernetics for everyone ( 3 times reaction speed, more toughness, FTL comm with lighthour range ).

personal and ship cloaking devices ( become really invisible ) AND ECM.

nearly inertialess drive ( zero speed to .7 c within seconds ).

real space FTL drive ( up to 800 c ).

computer circuits based of forcefields ( molecular circuits are said to be HUGE compared to these )

planetary and system shields.

real time communication with a range of 1000+ lightyears.

instant teleportation between special stations with a range of ~ 800+ lightyears.

sublight missile with a speed of .8 c

Enough information ? :D

As always, the Imps get raped slowly and painfully. Though perhaps a bit faster than normal, in this case. Just how big is the IR?

You are a sick fuck for just suggesting such a mismatch.

3200 c for planetoids, 4000 c for missiles...

But what's the use of a fast FTL drive if your opponent has enough mobile production capabilites to build a planetary shield around ANY conquered planet and have weapons that kill whole fleets ?

Don't get me wrong, the 5thI would wipe the floor with the Empire, let alone the Remnant. I just wanted to point out that 5thI FTL is much slower than the Remnant's.

Yes but the distances are so small that the Remnant can't really run. It might have a few weeks or months before Planetoids could reach every world, but with such a massive firepower mismatch it doesn't matter.

This is funny....

5th Imperium after Heirs of Empire would have quite a bit of trouble if they were going against the Empire at it's height. However, the Remnant is horribly screwed.

Fine, how about the Imperium at the beginning of Heirs to Empire and the Remanent as of the latest NJO book. Neither has any external enemies to worry about.

You must have misunderstood me...and you don't seem to be thinking to well. If the 5th Imperium after Heirs of the Empire can take on the Empire at it's height and stand a good chance of WINNING. What will happen the the Remnant?

I believe the term we are looking for is "Imperium smack-down"

What are the starting positions, wormhole, transposed into a big arena by Q, what?
On another note, can I get an official read from the Cult of Weber on the actual volume destroyed when the "20 km chasm" inflicted in Armageddon Inheritance occured. 20 square km at 1 meter thickness, 20 cubic kilometers, some other arbitrary number. Some sort of low, mid, high end figures for planetoid hull strength would be useful.

The 20 km chasm was a sphere with a radius of 20km carved out of the planetiod. So the actual area is just under 16755 km^3

Formula : (4/3 * pi * r^3) / 2
2/3 *pi * 20^3 = 16755 km^3

As for what numbers you get derrive from that, who knows.

Are we sure that was a sphere? I don't want to get jumped on when I suggest hull strengths derived from the area of destruction.

We don't really know. We know it gouged a hole 20 kilometers deep but we don't know how much of that was empty space either.

That's why I'm trying to get some sort of read for low, mid, high-end volume estimates for the area of destruction.
