For those lucky enough to have access to iTMS, they'll make the speeches available for (free) download as audiobooks sometime soon.
There are two kinds of people in the world: the kind who think it’s perfectly reasonable to strip-search a 13-year-old girl suspected of bringing ibuprofen to school, and the kind who think those people should be kept as far away from children as possible … Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between drug warriors and child molesters.” - Jacob Sullum

Why of course the Bush campaign know nothing about the Purple Heart bandaids. George Bush never gets his hands dirty with such sordid doings. He hires it done.

If Bush knew nothing about it, he really has to fire his campaign manager, since his campaign manager gives George daily briefings and all.....

He's serious.

Encyclopedia.com article on cartoonist Thomas Nast, who created both the donkey and elephant symbols.
"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."- General Sir Charles Napier

I'd love to see that. I'd also love to see Kerry then ask Arnold how much actual combat he's seen.
Just a small FYI, but Arnold served in the Austrian military for several years; while I don't think he had battle experience, he still did his time and left the service honorably. In fact, he's proud enough of it that he had the tank he drove back then brought over to Cali and put on display.

If Kerry asks Ahnuld about the "actual combat"? Probably the reply'll be something along the lines of: "I served my time, and I didn't turn my back on my fellow men in arms. Besides that... [steely Terminator glare, then proceeds to promptly thoroughly diss Kerry]"
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.

I watched about 10 minutes of the convention on CNN this morning, then I went and watched Tie Domi testify at an inquiry into a city of Toronto computer contracting funding scandal which his brother was involved in. I'm not sure which one was more painful to watch.

Seriously, though, the RNC was a huge Republican wankfest. I've had my respect for Rudy go down a few points after his speech. Although I must admit he is a great speaker.

Have a very nice day.

On the program for tonight: "People of Compassion"

Arnold Schwartznegger
Laura Bush
Bill Frist
Education Secretary

I can hardly wait.

Anyone else notice that Rummy, Cunninlingus Rice and Ashcroft are running silent running deep? I haven't seen Rummy's twisted constipated mummy face in awhile. I wonder why.

As opposed to the DNC which was somber, cautionary, and not self-congratulating? These things are to rally the troops.

I seriously can't believe that after the last three and a half years, millions more in poverty, millions less with health insurance, the Patriot Act, the environment, and his ongoing attacks on gays, Bush is trotting out that "compassionate conservatism" bullshit again. It's unbe-fucking-lievable.

Bush's attitude is the same as that of many rapists, gay-bashers, mafiosi and other assorted unsavory types: "The slut was asking for it." Anything bad that happens to you because of his policies is your fault because you were inviting attack.

I never knew Americans could act so pathetically in public and garner support.

The American political rallies prove me wrong most definitely.

Final Edit: McCain "We're not safe yet." Of COURSE not John. That would deprive your president of something to run on.

Oh, and pandering to the troops while benefits are being cut. Is there no end to this cavalcade of SHIT??

I am horrified by what's unfolding here.
Could someone specify exactly what benefits are cut and where I could find it online? I'd like to post that on another forum, but they won't believe it without evidence.

Oooo, they're slingling out the Black Republicans and constantly mentioning the atheist Lincoln and civil rights yet making no effort to promote it at all.

As I watch Arnold speak...My respect for him dwindles steadily....

Everyone so far is correct, it's nothing but a fap-fest. I've never, ever, in the entire span of my existence seen such a blatant stroke off. And you konw what? Americans in general are just stupid enough to fall for this garbage. Not one single real issue has been addressed so far. It's like a damned high-school pep rally...and about as substantive.
