Amarr System

The Amarr fleet had been destoryed. The last stubburn ship had been burned out of the void. The Sessionist's Bane cruised through the wreckage has the remaining escorts broke off to tractor escape pods and search for surviviors. The cruisers drew up around the dreadnoughts bombarding the last of the orbital defenses, crushing them completly.

"Transmit to the surface." Admiral Tzu ordered. The com officer nodded, completing the connection and reporting back to his superior.

"This is Admiral Tzu of the United Protectrates Navy to remaining government forces on Amarr surface stand down and surrender at once." Admiral Tzu ordered in his cold voice. The reply was hostile and expected.

"Launch the ground support fighters and keep us back out range of any planetry guns. Just in case. Send for the troop ships" Came the order.

Amarr Capital City

Ruben ducked behind a piece of rumble, there was the damn tank blocking the road. Most of them had been destoryed in the country fighting or so Ruben had thought. The tanks main gun spoke blowing apart two of the man behind him. Including the only man with a anti-tank weapon nearby. It was then Ruben heard a roar from the sky. He looked up to see a black shape screaming down from above. It swooped on the tank firing a missle which impacted on it tearing it to shreds.

Ruben leapt up yelling in triumph has his eyes following the fighter has it climbed up back into the sky. His eyes saw a vauge shape on it's side, looking like a... Fist. More fighters screamed in from the sky, hitting royalist postions and the few remaining gun batteries.

Gunboats moved through the streets, brushing aside all resistence, rebel and UP Marines following behind on foot. They advanced toward the "Imperial" palace, drawing a tighter and tighter noose around it. The Palace was a massive structure, smoking and shattered in places from the bombing runs of ground support fighters. The heavy railguns on one of the gunboats spoke out and shattered open the main gate. Rebels and Marines stormed through the gates, including Ruben. He ran excitly through the halls, before a power armored hand yanked him back, seconds before a hail of fire would have sawed him in half.

"Easy there bro. Let us handle this, we're a little better equipped, alright?" A female voice issued from the featurless helmet. Ruben could only just nod numbly. The Marines rushed forward, fighting through the last of the resistance.

"Colonel, we've found where their emperior is." A young Lt. reported.
"Excellent." Colonel Tucker nodded. Walking with Lt, he followed the young man through the palace where Marines stood guard. The walls were marble with precious metals inlaid, it would be made into a tourist attraction or striped down and destoryed. Colonel Tucker amused himself by wondering which one it would be. Perhaps a muesum on the former regime? He shoke his head, checking over his Marines. The Colonel had brought 2 battalions has well has a company of Combat Engineers. He could hear them at work in the distance, exploding a few statues and blowing the last bunkers of resistance. The Emperior was in his bed room the door was locked. A squad stood guard around the door.
"Perimeter secured, no unguarded way out, Sir." A Gunny reported.
"Thank you Gunnery Sgt, the door if you please?" Colonel Tucker replyed, laying a hand on his vibro sword. The Marines kicked down the gold plated door down, their rifles scanning the room to find... Nothing.
"Where the bastard go!" yelled the Lt. The Gunny tilted his head for a second, before pointing beneath the bed. Two Marines strode to the bed, a king sized satin draped monsterity that not even the most shamless billionarie in the UP would touch, and tossed it across the room. The Emperior was under there, still in his formal court robes.
"Emperior Amedius Amarr, by the authority of the Lord Protector and the federal I place you under arrest pending trail on crimes against humanity. Don't twitch wrong slaver, or I'll seperate your head from your body." Colonel Tucker snarled grabbing him and hauling the Emperior to his feet. Colonel Tucker tossed the former ruler to a pair of marines.
"Get him on the transport and make sure those Amarr troops don't tear him apart before his trail." He ordered.
Open Transmission
Having captured the former slaver owners of Amarr and investating their behavior, the United Protectrates will be charging a vast majority with crimes against humanity, we tender an invitation to fellow free nations to send observers to these trails. We will also be begining the reconstruction and mordernization of Amarr inferstructure and will leave the contracts open to bidding.

Madrighala
Elysium Cluster, Far Rimwards of Known Space

Over the great Cluster of Madrighala, a planet was dying.

It had been a small, rocky planetoid in the outer edge of the Madrighala system. The Ousters had come, and over the course of a decade, they had devoured the world. Great craters had been torn into it's surface, and huge sections of it's surface had been torn away by nuclear blasts and applied gridfire bursts from industrial wave motion devices. Swarms of robotic refineries had then swallowed the debris whole, seperating it into it's component molecules. Oxygen, Nitrogen, Hydrogen, and Carbon had all found it's way into the assorted life support systems, being transferred into CHON foodstuffs or other useful materials. The heavy metals were brought, in massive ingots, to Madrighala's ravenous foundries and factories. The primeval metal was worked, then, forged into armor plates, computer cores, and weapons. Massive factories produced advanced ceramics and vast plates of iridium composite armor.

Strings of freighters moved ceaselessly between the factory clusters and the military wombs. Strangely, not all the freighters were from the Madrighalan works- some carried their cargoes from far-off Fallow Space, and brought with them pre-made components which would take pressure off the Hajr shipwrights, allowing the vessels to be completed more rapidly. Inside the nets of scaffolding, worker's barracks, and machine shops, new warships had taken form. Now, the wombs came apart, giving obscene birth to sleek tools of destruction.

Starships hung there now. Each one was built by some of the most cunning engineers known to humankind, and equipped with arrays of lethal weapons. Their halls and warrens were home to the Unbound- called Ousters or Void Barbarians by those who knew little of them. They were loyal, efficient, and brutal- and they were now ready to make their way to Known Space.

The first elements of the 5th War Cluster's escort swarms activated newly-christened Kincaid drives and dove towards Eketrina. The forces of the Hajr were about to be bolstered by new blood.

Vessels launched:

Cruiser Swarm 5.4
-Independent Tactical Group

1 Unwavering Loyalty- Raiding Carriers
3 Brief Life Burns Brightly- Strike Cruisers
2 Killfrenzy- Escort Frigates

Lastport

The system was thick with ships. Incoming 3rd fleet ships, heading for refit yards, passed outgoing 5th fleet which take up the 3rd fleets defensive responbilities. First fleet ships patrolling the system, checking the readings of the sensor net that covered the system. In orbit over the planet lay groups of ships of Alliance members.

Nashtar, Union, Shi, Psilons and Drac ships escorts to their representives for this meeting sat in orbit. Glittering groups against of void.

Inside FirstHold the capital city of Lastport. Deep underground in under the city, the Lord Protector stood in the Alliance room. It had held many victories and defeats for him. Today was bittersweet. He held the plaque left behind by the Altantians when they fled known space. The were not a combative race and the many confrontations and near brushes frighten them beyond belief. The great fear however had been the fact that the Alliance seemed prefated to go to war before the year was out. In the end they decided to leave, rather then force the Alliance to protect them.

He sighed, he had failed them he felt. He wasn't sure how, but he had. He could only try to do better and ensure the nations of the Alliance did not suffer for their membership. He was a Protector, it was his duty.

"They are ready." Sakura said walking into the room. She was guarded like him by black armored men and women. A Mattews was never truely alone, from birth to death.

"Then we should go then." He replied turnning and taking the hand she offered him.

The meeting took place in the same deep bunker, a retrofitted command room that had grown obsolete decades before. They sat in a U shaped table each one surrondded by their staff. Near the UP postion sat a quite observer from Asgard.

"Gentlebeings, welcome and thank you for your attendence. Has you know the Etern decided to attempt colonization of 24 pre-warp worlds. Recently under advince from Lady Sakura, I suggested a comproise. Instead of the Etern claiming the worlds outright and using them has manufacting centers, the UP suggest that the worlds be made into international concerns, every power willing will be given a sake in the planets in question, this will prevent any one group from gaining undue power over the natives. When the natives have suffient education and infersturcture to support a 'warp' civilization, they will be allowed to decide their own fate. I will give the floor to Ambassador Shelton of the Nashtar Republic now." Lord Protector Joshua said.

Ambassador Shelton nodded to the Lord Protector as he took the podium to make his preliminary remarks. "Gentlemen, you know well the Republic's position on even contacting primitive civilizations, much less moving in wholesale and claiming them. The damage wreaked upon such cultures by even exposure to the outside context of advanced spacefaring nations is unreckonable and irreparable. However, the Etern have presented us with a fate accompli. The damage to the societies has been done and it cannot be undone now that general contact has been made. With that in mind, all we can do now is limit further damage to the people themselves and prevent the Etern from exploiting the worlds. We could do this in two ways. We could blockade the planets and prevent all further landings, but that would both risk outright war and the lives of our soldiers and would exacerbate the societal damage as the wizards from space faded into legend and became the gods who lit up the night sky with their battles in the heavens. The other option is the compromise offered by the United Protectorates. The Republic, after weighing our options, recognizes the compromise as the most productive course to take at this late date in the proceedings, with an eye towards making certain that the people in question realize that we are not gods, and that our technology is not magic, but only a tool, one that they can learn to use themselves." Gathering his notes, Shelton cleared the stand to polite, diplomatic applause to make way for the opening comments of the next speaker.

Varathrax

Senator Kisachek stood on the podium once again.

"Citizens, I returned to this fine structure today to find it defiled. Senators, we havve been attackeed on our home turf! I warned this august assemblage not a week ago about the importance- nay, the absolute imperative! of defending our people from foreign oppression and attack. Now, I find that in the very heart of our just democracy, we are attacked! If we can not be safe in the great hall of government, how can the people be safe in their own homes and places of work?"

"It is clear that the weakness we have shown, which the current government continues to show, is a severe danger to all of us! We can not allow our people to live in fear. I call upon the government to take steps; immediate steps, to ensure our people's safety!"

"Their continued failure has allowed our people to be harmed, and harmed again on our own soil. Action must be taken! I call that the Fleets be raised to smash the pirates we have let free from our nets, and show our true strength so that we may live, peaceful and free!"

You are jumping to conclusions senator. We dont know who did this, and noone from their territory have gotten through customs. The wreckage has not even been sifted through completely yet. Said a federal agent speaking for the executive branch.

Ambassador natrix was just about to reply, when he held his hand to his ear, where a small radio transmitter had been placed

"What?... Is this some kind of sick joke, I am not laughing!!!" He switched to a different frequency, then back"I am... sorry... I... sweet mother void...Gentlebeings... I must go... someone... someone bombed my neighborhood and.. my... my wife and daughter are in hospital, and arent expected to...make it... I..I have to go"

He was visibly fighting back tears as he bolted for his transport and hoped that he could at least tell his loved ones that he loves them before the end

Ambassador Sipedon took his place

"back to... business...not like we have much choice...this is terrible. "

Natrix had been his friend and collegue for decades, and his little daughter called him Uncle Sippy this was not easy on him either

"Our possition is known. We jumped the gun with our ultimatum.. but that was before we knew that colonization had already begun. I agree, we really dont have much choice'

UP Space

Ships moved out. Headed out towards Etern territory to ensure the Etern did not take advantage of the 24 worlds in question. They carried sciencist, doctors and other personnel needed for the mission.

Orodan, Nashtar Star Cluster

Barely had the last run of warships left the shipyards when new orders for escorts came in, with instructions to expedite the construction as much as possible without compromising ship quality. The yardmasters raised eyebrows as their portions of the order came in and began requisitioning materials.

On order (These will not all be done at once, but I know what I want and I'm placing the orders now.)

9 Starlight class
40 Dawn Raider class
9 Sun Striker class
1 Nova class
20 Solar Flare class

Leego Diama handed over the latest report out of Varathrax to Adar Krell. Krell just glanced at it.

"Bombings on Varathrax? Hardly surprising. The lizards have made rather large targets of themselves as of late. What is the response?"

"Mourning."

"Of course, that's politics. They have to do a period of mourning. But what is the response?

"Well, uh.... mourning. At this stage, signs point to a group of Tortugan rebels as the organizers of this attack, although it's still to early to say for certain. But the only senator who even suggested military relatiation was yelled down and-" Leego glanced at the report on Adar's desk - "pelted with produce." Leego smiled at the incident, but Krell's eyes remained cold.

"Politics. Bah. The Draconis are weak."

"Yes."

"We do not contract with the weak. Inform the Draconis that we will suspend all contracts within their territory until they show a little backbone." Leego grinned. If the Draconis were too weak to fight for themselves, the Combine wouldn't do their fighting for them. The Combine had strength, even if others did not.

"Is that all, Leego?"

"All out of the Dracs. Also, you should know, that I have completed the performance and psych reviews on all the ship commanders and support crew. Replacements are being made where needed."

"Good. Make sure the new staff has the right training as well as the right disposition."

"Of course. I know how to run my Navy."

"That you do. Dismissed."

Tortugan Space
Tortuga System

Space tore itself.

As over a hundred hyperspace breaches occurred each allowing a singular vessel to slip between the cracks, piercing the vastness of hyperspace and emerging in real space. The Tortugan fleet arrived as a unified and triumphant whole, appearing near the edge of the system. There was no doubting the words of the Master of Arms, but old habits died hard. The fleet maneuvered, thrusters firing as the fleet moved as a whole and positioned itself in a defensive formation as it plummeted towards the inner system and the world that they called home.

A channel was opened, the lead dreadnought attempting to communicate with Tortugan command through a series of military channels. The first three channels met with silence, obviously a problem in the planetary end. The final channel, finally got through.

”This is the fleet, we have returned. We are currently approaching in the following vector, our speed is as follows.”

”Welcome back Fleet! It is good to see you again, be advised that there are several international vessels in orbit around our world. These are medical ships, rendering assistance to our people. The Master of Arms is looking forward to meeting with you all.” The young voice from tortugan command gave an indication, as to what some of the end results of the conflict with the Draconis had been.

”Confirmed, I look forward to sharing a drink with the Master of Arms myself. Fleet over.” The channel was closed and the Tortugan fleet continued, their passive sensors allowing them a good look at their system and eventually, at their home. The fleet slowed as it neared the planet, sensors kissing the planet and gathering a wide array of information. Low Orbit was littered with a multitude of vessels, the hospital ships that command had talked about. Channels were opened, assurances given to the vessels in orbit that their presence was appreciated by the Tortugan fleet. The ships moved, taking position alongside the Tortugan shipyards. The fleet came to a stop, hovering silently in the void within sight of their world.

Tortuga System
Tortuga, Secure Facility

The Master of Arms sighed softly when he was informed of the arrival of the fleet. And so it began, the arrival of the final piece of the puzzle. The game could now truly be joined, and the future of their people could be finally decided. He tracked the tortugan fleet as it moved towards his world, the sensor readings already suggesting that several ships were damaged and from the communications of the fleet to the world, many required repairs and re-arming.

His right arm moved, flipping a switch as he opened a channel to the flagships of the fleet, all four commanding officers appearing on his screen. He forced a smile to his lip, radiating smugness as he spoke. “Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to New Tortuga. As you can see, no lizards are in sight. The cease fire is in place, and we gave them a good beating. Tortuga remains free.”

The response was immediate. “Master of Arms you son of a bitch! I did not believe you could pull this off without more support than we gave you. The Draconis certainly did not have the stomach for the war you gave them!” the fleet commanders laughed, and the Masters of Arms laughed with them. Doing so made him feel ill at ease, but he did it anyway.

”I look forward to seeing you in person, I am certain that you want to visit the home world and grant your crews some leave. In the current political climate, the Draconis dare not interfere. I have made arrangements for all of this, if you are willing to visit home. You will not be disappointed.” Words of confirmation and elation were shared before the channel was closed. The Master of Arms sitting down upon his chair once more and closing his eyes. Soon now, soon…

[Tortugan Space, AIAS Hadrian]

Despite the delay to circumnavigate Nashatar Space the Asgard Engineers had arrived and deployed in a frenzy of activity. More than one of the battered Tortugans would remember that they looked like collosal ants as they swarned over the shattered cities.

The work was extensive, but so were their resources and expertise. Within a handful of day basic water distribution had been returned as had basic sanitation. Power, being more exposed and delicate, would take much longer to permanently repair. But the grateful citizens didn't care as fresh, clean water and livable conditions went far towards easing their heavy burden.

New Tortuga, orbit, NRS Regulus

"Conn, Sensors, multiple warships entering the system. We're reading pocket dreadnoughts, cruisers, multiple escorts... Sir, I'm picking up a positive ID on a few of them. Designate new contacts as the pirate fleet."

Captain Tomaas of the NRS Regulus wasted no time in his reaction. "Shields up! Comms, Conn, transmit to Commodore Drayson, commander Second Battle Group, Sixth Fleet: The pirates have returned and we are vastly outgunned. We are withdrawing from the system and request backup. They should still be at Varathrax. Transmit to the freighters: Recover all personnel and break for it. Engine room, Bridge, run 'em up. Helm, all ahead flank. Put the planet between us and the fleet, see that the rest of the convoy does the same."

Black Ace Leader

"Aces, run up the engines, but do not engage. We may have to run interference, but it'd be better to get out of the system without having to engage that mess."

"Copy, Lead."

New Tortuga, surface

The supply delivery operations were abandoned as the personnel bolted for their shuttles, leaving what they'd offloaded already. The shuttles lifted off straightaway, making for a rendezvous with their mother freighters.

Presidential Cabinet meeting

President: Ok, do we have any idea who may be responsible for this.

Intelligence Director: we think it was someone who came through customs about a month ago, one by the name of Strang We also think he may be responsible for the bombing of the military HQ a few hours earlier

Vice President: What makes you think that?

Intel:Peices of a bike which preliminary data says is the same model as his own. And the model is very disdinctive, there are only a few others on world, they are being checked on now. HQ sensors picked up a bike of the same make over itself driver was not one of our species. Identified the model as the same model as Mr. Strang's bike. There had been no traffic over the area for a week.

President: DO we have enough for a warrant?

Intel: We are working on it,

(Oni I assume was not killed in the massivly reduced blast)

On approach to Varathrax, 2nd Battle Group, Sixth Fleet

Commodore Drayson nearly hit the roof. "Helm, Conn, change course. We're going back to Tortuga. Comms, ask the Dracos to cover our freighters the rest of the way in."

"Aye, sir!"

As the three weapons freighters continued on to make their delivery, the warships heeled over and aligned themselves back on course to Tortuga. A moment later, they jumped to hyperspace.
It's Rogue, not Rouge!

Varathrax
Lower Orbit

The first baeloaren shuttle, filled with the first group of passangers, flew through the atmosphere to the Capital City's landing platforms.
Onboard were 50 Baeloarens, 35 of them workers, plus a small portion of the ship's cargo. The next shuttle would be leaving soon, but these were the first. On the ground, there were already ground transports ready to haul the supplies and people to the office building the baeloarens had leased. While it wasn’t visible, or truly important, all the equipment waiting for them and the building they had purchased where property of the Skallex Corporation.

The transport landed quietly on the landing pad, and the fifty passengers disembarked and proceeded into the customs building for scanning.

Tortugan Space
Tortugan System

The reaction of the Nashtarian forces in the system was immediately noted as the Tortugan fleet barreled towards their home world. Orders given by the commanders of the fleet to the Tortugan forces; They were not to harass or chase the fleeing Nashtar forces. If they were in such a hurry to leave the system, then so be it. Chuckles spread through the bridges of various vessels as the Nashtar fled the system with surprising vigor.

“This must have been how Genghis Khan felt when his hordes approached.” The voice of the lieutenant was laced with amusement. He was one of the damned.

”The move surprises me, don’t they know the war is over? We can’t pirate anymore or the entire UPA will come over and squash us like a bug.” The female voice of the lieutenant was barely a whisper, concerned by the reaction she saw.

After the Nashtar forces military or otherwise had done what they would do, the fleet parked itself. The fleet admirals considering what they had seen and deciding that perhaps celebrations would be premature at the moment; a channel was opened with Tortugan command as the peculiar behavior of the Nashtarian forces was pointed out. It was decided that the Fleet would remain on guard, until the government could ascertain what exactly was going on with the Nashtar Republic. The Master of Arms took the news well.

Veithan Space
Mulaya System, Mulaya III

A Veithan representative walked to the Krell Combine embassy and exchanged a sealed envelope with his counter part. Inside was a request by the Empire for the Combine. All the details were enclosed, the move would be beneficiary to both nations.

In the quite corner of the massive Asgard Ansi-Net* the Foriegn Office added a small update to it's official site. Along with this seemingly minor change came a warning to those with the particular travel papers or who would be issued them:

Code: Select all

Contrary to their prior claims the Draconis Republic, private information is routinely made available to law enforcement with out a warrant. This is in contradiction to their public information campaign. There is no evidence of gross abuse of the privilege but visitors would be wise to be discrete.

(This is a Nashtar post. Rogue 9 was unable to post it, so I offered to do it for him.)

New Tortuga System, NRS Regulus

"Sir, they aren't pursuing so far. We just might get out of this."

"Good, but don't count on it. Keep between the freighters and the pirates. I want a microjump to the Oort cloud. How long until we clear the gravity well?"

"Thirty seconds, sir. Mammoth reports full recovery of the convoy's supply shuttles and personnel."

"Good."

Black Ace Leader

"Aces, form up on me. Jolly Lead, you there?"

"Yeah, Ace One," responded Jolly Roger One. "What you need?"

"I want you to fly close escort for the freighters. We'll run a fighter screen for the destroyers."

"We're on it. Call if you need us."

"Will do."

NRS Regulus

"Captain, we're clear."

"Tell the freighters to go. We'll cover them. Are the pirates pursuing?"

"Negative, sir."

"Helm, Conn. We jump as soon as the freighters are gone."

"Aye, sir."

SS Mammoth

"Helm, go, go, GO!"

The freighter's helmsman didn't bother answering. He just yanked back on the hyperdrive levers and then jammed them back forward, coming out just beyond the Oort cloud.

NRS Regulus

"The freighers have jumped out, sir."

"Make the jump!"

"Aye, sir."

The destroyer squadron followed their charges. The F/A-210s covered their escape and jumped out themselves twenty seconds later.

Oort Cloud, Tortuga System

The light battle group's ships emerged from hyperspace on the outer fringes of the system just after the convoy jumped out.

"Sensors, what's going on?"

"No firing in system, sir. We're picking up our ships a few thousand kilometers off to port. Looks like they're all there."

Commodore Drayson sighed in relief. "Comms, signal the Regulus. Tell Captain Tomaas to bring his group here. Helm, set course for the convoy, all ahead two thirds. We'll meet and then withdraw together.

"Aye, sir. ETA to convoy, one minute, twenty seconds."

Ships moved out. Headed out towards Etern territory to ensure the Etern did not take advantage of the 24 worlds in question. They carried sciencist, doctors and other personnel needed for the mission.

"Picking up ships on the long-range sensors. Look like.. UP drive signatures, could be wrong. Coming this way."

A frown came from the head of the post, his massive arms folding. "Warships, do you think? We specifically forbad such."

"Unsure, sir. Will try and resolve when they get closer."

"Set defensive forces to Caution in the area. No one needs to charge the guns yet, but we might as well be ready if they turn out to be here to put a permenant end to negotiations."

Etern space
A small convey of freighters carrying medical, scientific, and engineering personnel exited non-threateningly out of FTL along with a pair of aging destroyers, broadcasting Manticoran IDs. They awaited clearance from the Etern before proceeding down to the planet.
