I'll point out that their "disaapearance" of human colonies happened 50 years after the fact.

OMG Weeeeee! Can you feel the excitement?! :D

Anyways, this post is here simply to point out that with the possibility of a huge war in the coming days, my posts for the Tortugan forces will taper of as they are superceded by the Veithans. This is regrettable, but with this sudden and relatively unsuspected move, I have to concentrate on my primary power. However, I will point out a few things.

1. The Asgard have so far, put the most effort into winning the hearts and minds of the tortugan people. As of right now, it is very likely that their offer will pass the first votes needed and make it to government for a final look.

2. The tortugan fleet will remain in system and will move to full alert at this point. I have no desire to use it at the moment unless Tortuga itself is attacked. Unfortunately, recent events will delay certain things.

And how!

Ah, telepathy- the trump card. But we don't know shit about the Ethereals. We don't know how their minds work, if they have telepathy of theirr own, or if they can even be accurately read. Even having a Prime turn the Ethereal minister of defense inside out won't provide anything conclusive, because

1. Are Ethereals capable of masking their thoughts or memories? We don't know.

2. Ethereals aren't human. Are our readings of their memories accurate?

3. If his brain is clean, how do we know it's not some other minister or leader who would know of these things? Maybe this fellow is out of the loop, part of some othe government faction. Do you deep-scan EVERY Ethereal?

Frankly, telepathic readings are a shaky source of information and FAR from proof. Hell, we all saw the travesty over Hudson- that's concrete. Those Ousters DIED trying to stop the fortress from crashing into a human city!

I'll trust a Vethan Prime over a Ouster Hajr anyday. Hell I'd trust the Overseer Machine over the Hajr right now.

That can be arranged. I think the Ousters have a Master Programmer or two.

My yards and industry is heavily located in the two main systems, as is the populace. Everything else is just resource production.

And I do have some holding in Arcanist territory, too.

Only about a 1% of the Ethereals (the so called MindWalkers) are true telepaths, although all Ethereals are empaths with Sixtras, Grabians and Prextazsak and telepaths with other Ethereals. About a 1% of the MindWalkers are MindWarriors who are fairly powerful telepaths and have TK and energetic powers.
1. Are Ethereals capable of masking their thoughts or memories? We don't know.
Yes, they are. The Sharing allows them to hide their memories from unwanted mind probes by sending them to another Ethereal. Of course,
2. Ethereals aren't human. Are our readings of their memories accurate?
Yes. The reading of their memories would be accurate.
3. If his brain is clean, how do we know it's not some other minister or leader who would know of these things? Maybe this fellow is out of the loop, part of some othe government faction. Do you deep-scan EVERY Ethereal?
There are three fourths of the Council who are not Ethereals. They would have some clue of something that big, one would say.

I have offered to open my installations to outside neutral inspection. Considering that they would have needed to arrange quarters for an human somewhere, there would be some proof left, wouldn't it?

Unimportant, that information just isn't common enough. TO the world at large, your telepathy is a complete unknown.

Yes. The reading of their memories would be accurate.
Right. You know that. Do we?

Yes, they are. The Sharing allows them to hide their memories from unwanted mind probes by sending them to another Ethereal. Of course,
Ah, so in other words, telepathic scans are worthless. Cool. Of course, we don't know that either...

Of course not. I have thousands of human catspaws who have never set foot on Eketerina, and I've launched great numbers of intelligence gathering operations with only small portions of my government knowing about it. For instance, a Prime could pick the Speaker apart, and find only comeplete veracity in her claims.

Hell I'd trust the Overseer Machine over the Hajr right now.
Eminently illegitimate. The Overseer is known to be completely violent and brutal, with no redeeming factors whatsoever. the Ousters are clearly expansionistic, but have shown themselves to be an honorable warrior culture which abhors terror-tactics, devoting vast resources to such international peacekeeping efforts as the cleanup on Terra and the destruction of the Overseer (An operation, I'll point out, from which they gained nothing.) Certainly, OOC, you know I'm completely untrustworthy. But do you know that in-character? Hell, everyone saw the Ousters valiantly trying to stop the Station from hitting the planet. Everyone heard that the bombing wasn't a succcess- the weapon had gone off prematurely, presumably because if it had waited, it would have been discovered.

The evidence is shaky, sure- but the big fat truth here is that the Ousters have been halfway decent, and suddenly they've been hit with a very nasty terrorist attack. The White Sun? Oh, they've sent ambassadors and talked, but what have they done? The White Suns have a history of paranoia and war with Humans, including some pretty terrible atrocities (on both sides,) which really doesn't help their case at all.

I need not point out that their "opening their government to complete evaluation" is worthless, they would show us what theyn wanted us to see, no more, no less.

Yeah, except for a couple details. It had to be setup, for a couple reasons. One, that explosion should not have knocked the station out of orbit so quickly. Two, and more conclusively, the station landed on the city when it fell. "But wouldn't it have to, since it was in geosynchronous orbit over it," you say? No, and in fact in an uncontrolled descent it would be guaranteed to land outside the city. As it fell, it would no longer be at geosynchronous orbit height, and therefore the planet would rotate slower than the station's orbit and it would land elsewhere. That descent was aimed. Well, with the engine sections destroyed (I presume) by the bomb, who was doing the aiming? The only ones that could: The Ouster tugs. Burned by basic orbital mechanics. :P

That, Rogue 9, is why I say this game has MASSIVE problems with people metagaming. That was fucking pathetic.

Read my post again. The explosion didn't knock out the engines, it caused a series of secondary explosions that breached the reactor. With power failing, the engine controls died, and it fell out of orbit.
that explosion should not have knocked the station out of orbit so quickly.
I don't recall giving an exact time table for this very reason- I didn't feel like doing the calculations (and I don't have the math skills to do them,) to find out ho long it would take.
As it fell, it would no longer be at geosynchronous orbit height, and therefore the planet would rotate slower than the station's orbit and it would land elsewhere.
It mostly landed outside the city, but the fireball and the fact the station broke up allowed it to smash large parts of the region. This is a major city, and as such is quite big, with huge industrial and residential suburbs. The Station didn't crash straight down. The station was not aimed, and the Ouster tugs were purposefully trying to save the station, not steer it You have the sensor records of every craft in the region proving it as such. In fact, the only Ousters to even know of this plan are Elanie's inner circle and a handful of Blackeyes who are all now dead.

How is that metagaming? Come on. Unless Hudson's rotation around its axis is insanely fast, the altitude for geosynchronous orbit would be quite high, like roughly 22,000 miles AGL for an Earth-sized planet with a roughly 24 hour day. That sets the distance that it'd have to fall. The rest is just simple orbital mechanics, that I'm sure people in universe could probably pick out better than I. I'm not using OOC knowledge. Thirdfain himself said that every government knows and has tapes of it by now. That's all I need to know to work this out IC.

Never mind your argument that it's impossible for someeone to sneak a bomb into the Ouster trade fortress. Nothing's impossible. Raistlin was assassinated. The Draconis senate was bombed. The Ouster trade fortress was bombed. I don't see the problem here.

Nope. Not possible. The longer it took, the more right I become. Anything over a couple hours and the city could get to the other side of the planet as the station rotated away. A couple times over.
