Ravenlock Sector
Corvus
Office of the Director

“This is authentic?” The Director frowned at the footage he was receiving

“As near as we can tell. We’re confirming it with the Veithans and the Gladsheim right now.” The frail man was looking grim as well.

“Scramble all of the intelligence divisions, all available personnel. Find out what the hell just happened, and more importantly, try to find out why. I want full cooperation with the Veithans on this.”

“There will be some complaints, sir.”

“So send them to the complaint department. We have bigger problems to worry about than who gets to see what state secrets.”

“Do you think it could be the Loyalist Dra’kol?”

“It’s possible…but let’s not jump to conclusions. The longer we can keep them out of sight and out of mind, the better.”

“Naturally.”

“Also, get word to Alpha and Delta. They’re on maximum alert, as of now. If there is any sort of terrorist threat out there, we need to be vigilant in Ark Sector, to make sure our people don’t get set back,” The Director let out a lengthy sigh and rubbed his temple.

Jenkins waited for a few precious moments, not wanting to rush the Director, “Anything else?”

“Yes. Get me the Krell representative on the line. We need to talk.”

The message went from ship to ship in seconds.

"To all units, this is Admiral Akkash Lanshal. We have just been informed of a massive terror attack on Ouster controlled Hudson System. Many good merchants are reported lost, while little else is known, we will not rule out the possibility that this attack was targetted at Baeloaren merchants, who frequent Hudson. All units are now on High Alert.

Official Press Release:
"Just minutes ago a trade center over Ouster Hudson was sent hurtling into the Hudson Capital City, devastating the entire planet, and killing many, our people included. To keep our people as safe as possible, we are now putting all units on high alert. Security will be on site, in force in all archologies and orbital stations. All military and security forces are on high alert, please continue about your work with the understanding that this security is here for your protection."

Eketrina
Hudson System

-4 Days After the Fall Over Hudson-

Elanie let the Blackeye’s body slump to the floor.

“Yes, Bondman Hakim, you did very well. I’m sure you will never be troubled by your deeds in the beyond.”

She delicately wiped the blood from the corners of her mouth- she had been sparring all shift with some of the Dhampir assassins, and her exhaustion had inspired her to take her meal with a great deal of gusto. Some still crimson specks still marred the front of her skin-suit; that would have to be cleaned again.

The Speaker of the Hajr sat in her harness, staring blindly. Elanie had switched her off during the meal- a bizarre sort of kindness. She felt an odd affection for the Speaker, after all, the woman’ kindness had allowed her to experience the true path to perfection. She had been raised to believe in competition, but now she saw it was an imperfect way. It took into account the grazers, who must fight one another for the land they both need to survive- but it discounted the predator. She thought back to her thoughts on first meeting Basil.

In some ways, this creature was an Ouster's equal and opposite- someone for which a millennia of death was an eye blink, who would see a hundred generations of Ousters living, breeding, and dying as a mere flash- someone who drew power from a source other than the raw, vibrant, hungering life force that caused an Ouster to outstrip a human in every field but lifespan…

Yes. The predator’s place in the mundane squabble for resources that was human life was obvious. The predator was meant to rule.

Elanie cradled the Speaker’s slim face in her hands, and stared deep into the once-great woman’s empty eyes.

“My Lady, my liege, it is time. We have wrapped up the loose ends. We have what we need. Our brave soldiers stand ready, knowing full well that a brief life burns brightly, and that loyalty is unwavering. Lady Speaker, it is time to move.”

Elanie faded into the shadows, and was gone. Minutes later, the Council filed into the Chamber. The Speaker seemed to snap, her eyes focusing, vitality rushing into her cheeks.

“How dare they…”

She whispered.

“How dare they slay my people, even the innocent humans…”
“Guards! Bring the Freecaster. I must bare my face to all. The Speaker of the Hajr will make her thoughts known.”

Hushed whispers shot amongst the Council members. It was a small joke among the Hajr that they called their ambassadors Voices. As the saying went, “Voices lie, but to know the words and thoughts of the Speaker is to know truth itself.”

For the first time, the Speaker of the Hajr’s visage was sent echoing across the aether, transmitted from freecaster to freecaster, from hypercomm to hypercomm. The Speaker’s face was handsome- high cheekbones, milky skin, and a head of thick, pitch-black braids, a visage from which a pair of strong, piercing blue eyes gazed, full of compassion and regret.

Her voice was strong, and unwavering.

<<Four days ago, a terrible act of cowardice and insanity struck. Over the great world of Hudson, the throneworld of the Diaspora, and home to both Bound and Unbound, a weapon of vicious murder was used. Aimed at furthering no goal, aimed only at chaos and destruction, this weapon was a tool such as only the Machine beasts have used.

Foolish lunatics unleashed this weapon. Paranoid murderers, under whose hands billions have already disappeared to fates unknown. The culprits were unlucky- their device detonated prematurely, and their cowardly escape was cut off. They were brought in, along with others. The eyes of truth examined all in turn, and in the end, the truth was winkled out. Sadly, the culprit, a monster in human form hired for this job by outside agencies, was slain in his interrogation. We have complete records, in perfect order, for all powers to examine to prove the veracity of our claims and the completeness of our search for truth, including the mercenary’s own records of the deal he struck with foul puppet-masters to slaughter the people of Hudson. Let none doubt this, as the puzzle fits together perfectly.

The Confederacy of the White Sun- their name is innocuous, but all know of their history! They allow only a chosen few into their lands, and those who venture there may be killed for the slightest provocation. Many a drifter or freighter-captain has met his death by accidentally entering their territory. Three billion men and women, colonists, met their deaths at the hands of the Confederacy. They spit on honor, and have killed many in their paranoid rage. Now, that rage has turned on the Diaspora. Apparently, they see it as a threat. They targeted the Trade Fortress, for its importance as the hub around which the Diaspora has gained strength, hoping to cut us off from our partners in commerce across Known Space.

They feared us, assuming we were poised to strike against them- and now, with their incompetent attempt to harm us from the shadows, they have brought upon them the very wrath they so fervently feared.

The Hajr will now extract it’s vengeance upon the White Sun Confederacy twofold for their cowardly, horrific attack. Six million Unbound and humans of the Hajr and it’s protectorate were killed. Six million citizens of the White Sun Confederacy will be slain for their transgression.

One orbital station of high value was destroyed by the Confederacy, and one orbital shipyard of the Confederacy will be destroyed in retaliation.

One major world, a Protectorate of the Hajr, was damaged heavily. One world of the Confederacy will be taken as a protectorate to make up for the loss and pay wergild for the dishonor that has been done the Hajr.

If the Confederacy wishes to bow to our judgement, we will accept the payment of one hundred thousand Krell credits a head for six million people as wergild for our loss as opposed to the lives of the White Sun’s citizens.

The warships of the Confederacy are free to oppose us in our sacred mission of vengeance for our fellow brothers and sisters. They will be eradicated, destroyed, until our objective is complete and the Confederacy has paid for it’s crime.

The Hajr will not be stymied by cowardly attacks! The murder of those the Hajr protects will not be allowed! The White Sun Confederacy will pay.>>

Faran Tor was nearly beside himself. The news all over Ravenlock space was about the tragedy over Hudson. A terrorist attack of this unbelievable magnitude had never been seen before, and the media was all over it. Transmissions were few, coming out of Ouster locked-down territory, but now, six hours after the blast, nearly everyone across the galaxy knew what was happening. And now, of all times, Adar wouldn't come to the damn comm. Faran had waited an hour while his request was put on hold. His request! Faran usually had a direct line to Adar's desk, and waiting now was just unthinkable.

With a ping, the monitor came to life, and Adar's face glared out towards Faran. "What do you want, Faran?"

"Jesus, Adar, it took me forever to get through to you."

"I know. I was away from my desk. There were things to see to. I'm sure you know the kind of situation everyone is in right now. I couldn't afford to be sitting in my office." That was a relief. Adar wasn't just blowing him off.

"OK, but look. I imagine we have been getting hundreds of contract requests. Every tiny nation out there wants 3 dreadnaughts overhead in case someone decides to notice their world and glass it. And here I am on the other side of the galaxy."

"I sympathise, Faran, but there is no need for alarm. I have taken on these contracts myself, with the help of some of your staff."

"You have? No offense, Adar, but this is my job. Tightbeam these contracts over here and I'll-"

"No. All of the data coming in right now is sensitive. Top secret. If it gets into the wrong hands it could give away fleet movements and betray the confidences of our clients. Do you really think I should send all this data into the middle of Ravenlock space?"

It was irritating, but Adar had a point. A good point. "I guess you're right. I'll head back to the Nexus now. My shuttle will take about two days."

"Unacceptable. You are needed where you are. There is still our unfinished business in the Veithan systems, no? Finish up and head to Veitha. When you are outside the Ravenlock sensor grid, I will send you a full report. Now, if you'll excuse me-" The transmission cut out.

Faran growled to himself but wasted no time. Running back to his personal area, he began packing his things. He had stayed here too long. Veitha was next, and then back to the Nexus.

Office of the Fleet Admiral, Nashtar, Nashtar Star Cluster

"The White Sun Confederation..." Captain Corven breathed in sharply. "It can't be..."

"Of course it can't. You really think any outside party could have gotten a bomb of that size onto the station without setting any prior alarm?"

"Surely you don't suggest..."

"What I suggest doesn't matter right now, Captain," Admiral Blessinger stated grimly. "What does matter is that our allies are being targeted for destruction, a situation that we cannot accept. Alert all commands. Prepare to execute AIOP Contingency One.

"Aye, Admiral."

Gladsheim Prime, Imperial Plaza

<<The reports are true then?>> Empress Elana asked.
<<Yes, the attack has been confirmed with Veithan and Ravenlock allies.>> Admiral Farshaw answered.
<<Well, we just keep tight. I don't want anything bad happening with these Ousters. Immediate meassures?>>
<<Prepare Tranquility, for one. Keep the fleet at home and raise security alert to Red.>>
<<Very well, proceed. I will take Tranquility.>>

***

The already tight sensor net was thickened by thousands of additional sensor drones, fleet units were keeping close to the planets, the cities floated even deeper into the atmosphere, weapons and defense systems on hot stand-by.

***

Empress Elana was alone in an obscure part of Datanet. She was about to activate a last resort system that had been prepared for the ultimate emergency.
<<Tranquility prepare, status Omega Green, initiate.>>
A deep, mellow voice answered her.
<<It shall be done.>>

Deep within each city and major installation devices and generators sprung to live that had been dormant for centuries. System checks were done, and it was functional.

Tortuga - High Orbit

Construction on the new station was well underway as the pre-fabs were delivered from Abydos. Massive nanolathes mounted on cranes extending from the Phobos and a couple of other vessels that showed up were in the process of joining the pieces together.

"Looks like the Tortugan navy's out in full force."

"Yeah...hey is that an Asgerd ship?"

"I dunno... They've been pretty much oblivious to us since we got here..."

Hall of the Council.
Planet Home.

-5 days after the Fall over Hudson.

And so war had arrived, as expected, even if the destruction over Hudson had been unexpected. The Confederation faced its total destruction. There was precious little time before the Ouster hammer would hit their worlds. They had moved too slowly, started to speak with Outsiders too late and weakening their forces in the worst moment. There was little hope left in the atmosphere within the Hall was grim. The future had never looked so dark.

"The Sixtra habitats must house as many people as possible before their departure and the same goes for the motherships. We must save as many as it is feasible for the Ousters are coming and they will left nobody alive. The protomatter technology and all related technology will be destroyed. It must not fall in Ouster hands. All the details are to be sent to Vopelum in LastPort, who will give it to the United Protectorates government after our defeat. Dertorian in Nashtar will be sent the details about Transpace Portal Generators. Hopefully, this will help the humans to defeat the Ousters and avenge us" said Councilor Verilon with fury in his voice, before leaving the remaining eleven Councilors to their deliberations. He had a meeting to attend. How could anything be as evil as the Ousters? The Masters had been cruel beyond reckoning, but they had exercised their cruelty against other species and not against their own kind. The Ousters had willingly sacrified millions of lives of their own in order to start a war with the support of the other Known Space powers.

Feeling very tired, he entered the room that housed other Ethereals that manipulated the machines that would carry his image to the four corners of Known Space. They would answer the false accusations of the Voice of the Ousters for it would probably give them some time to continue with their preparations.

When the transmission started, Verilon removed the helmet of his centauroid suit and for the first time in the history of Known Space, the face of an Ethereal was shown to strangers. The two pairs of black blind eyes in the sides of a wrinkled face without other features appeared in the screens of systems thousands of light years away. And then the Ethereal started to speak with a voice created by the synthesizer implanted in his neck.

"I am Verilon. Spokesbeing of the Council of Races of the White Sun Confederation and with this message I inted to answer the nefarious accusations that the Ousters formulated against our nation yesterday."
"First of all, the White Sun Confederation considers the terrorist attack on Hudson a grievous crime against intelligent life and rejects the words of those who attempt to frame us the responsability of it. We demand from the Ousters the records of the interrogatory of the terrorist agent in order to start an investigation to discover the true identity of the promoters of the attack against the Hudson Trade Fortress."
"The second and most important point is that we reject the demands of the Ousters. Our history has been one of fighting those intending to make us kneel. We will perish rather than be enslaved again. The price that the Ousters inted to extort from us in order to stop them from murdering six millions of our citizens would mean becoming slaves in all but the name and that is something that we won't accept."
"I would also like to adress the nefarious attempts of the Hajr to distort our history. It is true that we consider the Ouster expansionistic behaviour to be a threat to the safety of our nation. It is true that we have been isolated from Outside, demanding our right to be left alone. It is true that three billion humans perished during a war half a century ago and it is true that ships entering our territory have been destroyed. But half a truth is worse than a thousand lies, as my people says. The ships entering our territory were mostly pirates seeking haven away from human territory or warships from our neighbours that believed us to be easy prey. Drifters and traders we have found few over the years and those we found we demanded them to leave in their own will or tow them to somewhere outside our borders. The Voice of the Ousters has not mentioned the fact that the world where those colonists where killed was the homeworld of one of the species of the Confederation. The terraforming of the world you call Borealis and that we call for its true name, Sixtrasis, killed hundred of millions and when we attempted to stop the murder, they fired at our ships, wiped our colonies and bombed our homeworlds to the very edge of extinction. Tens of billions died over the fifty years during which human warships would yearly bomb our planets. And finally, we didn't kill three billions of humans. Almost two billions died when a biological weapon that they had created to use against us escaped from their control. Six hundred millions died when the humans decided to use nuclear weapons against their own cities in order to stop our advance. There were acts of savagery among our forces, we don't hide the fact, but they were punished long ago."
"Finally, the White Sun government accepts the initiative of the United Protectorates. We are willing to open our worlds and installations for inspection and to show our minds to any neutral telepath that might want to verify the truth of my words. But we are not willing to bow and this won't change no matter how much the Ousters might threaten us."

<< The Hajr needs look no further than the Confederacy's own admitted War to the Knife to see the sad cultural roots of this attack. We see no need to insult the intelligences of the nations of Known Space by explaining the reasons an opening of the Confederate government under their own terms would be worse than useless, and the inconclusivity of telepathic interrogation on the most differnt aliens, such as these, is well-documented. The Hajr fights to avenge the deaths of it's people. The White Sun barbarians will pay.>>

/ooc I sent complete records of the interrogation and the logs on the scum's ship with ym first message.

"The Ousters Appear to be telling the truth."

"What about our intelligence teams on Hudson?"

"We've lost contact. We don't know if they made it out."

:::::::::Shiva cluster, Krytos System::::::

Victor Davion, leader of the Floater Cluster of Shiva, and agent for the Krytosian External Security Service, paced across the observation deck, waiting for his aide to return with the final damage and casualty estimate.

He thought to himself quietly
"Sprint's team wouldn't have..... Couldn't have done this, so it must be the white suns."

His aide walked in.

"Are those the final estimates?"

"Yes, several dozen million dead, billions of currency units in damages."

"Send a message to the Ouster Govenment, ask them to send an ambassador to discuss a possible humanitarian aide mission, and if they want, to set up a permanent embassy here on the cluster."

"Has there been any word from Krytosian High command about the incident?"

"No, they must still be looking over the evidence, and preparing a press release. One thing's for sure though, they're worried as hell. All planetary defense stations, ships, and ground defenses have been put on high alert. It's like they think this incident is going to spark another Genocide war."

"It may yet"

To: Ouster diplomatic office
From: Shiva cluster, Foreign Office
Re: Humanitarian aid

Please send a representative to Shiva cluster to discuss a potential humanitarian Aide mission to the Hudson system at your earliest convenience.

White Suns Sector
Home System
Six Days after The Fall

A ship appeared outside of the home system, having been let through the outer borders without incident. The entry point was somewhat irregular, somewhat off course from usual entries on the specified vector, “This is Consortium Civilian transport Omega-Five-Seven-Victor-Niner. Sorry for the overage, we were going for speed, given the situation. We are requesting clearance to the capital, over.”

The ship was nothing special, just a standard small civilian transport, hired out by the Consortium to transport a very special cargo, a mix of potent telepaths, Ravenlock and Dra’kol, and while nothing compared to the raw might of the Veithan Primes, their mutual experience in alien mindscans should prove invaluable in the following investigation.

Ouster GN-H Sector
Hudson System
Six Days after The Fall

A half dozen large freighters appeared at the edge of the Hudson system, well inside of tolerances for approved vectors. Consortium Cross captains had been trained in using their secondary systems on final approaches in order to set local authorities at ease. “Attention Hudson STC, this is the Consortium Cross convoy. We bring medical supplies and aid, transmitting the specifics now. Please tell us where you need us most.”

Hudson
6 days after the Fall

The incoming Ravenlock freighters were greeted by an awesome sight. Hanging in low orbit over Hudson was the Fleet Tender Bounty of the Stars. A vast swarm of small and medium craft surrounded her, frantically moving to and fro in a variety of rescue operations. The attending warships of the First were also present, some on patrol, the rest in ready states over Eketrina.

<< Ravenlock Vessels, you are cleared for approach. Freecast/Hypercomm links will remain open with the Fleet Tender to ensure coordination with other rescue forces.>>

A fast courier arrived over Shiva, and the proper electronic handshakes and protocols were observed. Minutes later, an elegant Voice found himself in the presence of the leaders of the Shiva cluster.

"Bondmen. I come to bring you the Speaker's thanks. We accept any and all humanitarian aid you can offer in this dark time."

Ravenlock Sector
Corvus
Residence of Director Jon Cameron
Two Days after The Fall

~Come on now Jon, I want you to try it on to make sure it fits.~

~You know it’s going to fit already, don’t you?~

~Maybe. And maybe I want to see what it’s like taking it off…~

~Well, that is a most compelling argument. Still, are you sure you want me to wear this to the ball? Aren’t you afraid of losing me to the Empress?~

~Oh, what, and you couldn’t lose me to some dashing young prince?~

~Well now, I don’t think I’ve seen myself just what your dress looks like just yet, so I can’t say.~

~Maybe I’ll just show you, and then you can lament my inevitable loss as we fly off to the Ball together.~

~Go ahead, show me yours, and I’ll show you mine.~ The Director failed to suppress a wry smirk from dancing on his lips.

~All right…are you ready?~

~Yes, let’s see now, what have you got for me?~

The two stepped out of their respective dressing rooms and looked at each other’s bodies and the outfits draped on them for a moment before their eyes locked.

The next day, on board the ship that would take them to Gladsheim space, their outfits were given to the tailors on the ship to make presentable for the ball. No reasons were given for how the suit and gown had been mangled so terribly, but several knowing winks were exchanged.
Do not meddle in the affairs of insomniacs, for they are cranky and can do things to you while you sleep.

Veithan Space
4 Hours after Hudson Incident

The Veithan armed forces moved.

The tragedy in Hudson was all over the news, dozens of distinct sensor logs displayed in a myriad of networks all showing the macabre end of the Ouster construct and the death toll it had caused. Orders had come from the capital, and the Fleet as well with the Veithan ground forces answered. The Veithan fleet gathered, each individual sector fleet brought to the highest level of readiness. The usual individual squadrons and task forces coalescing into a singular whole, as the six Veithan fleets were once again made whole. It was a move that signified much, the movements of the fleet were masked civilian exclusion zones carved out of nearly entire systems.

In the ground, Veithan troops were recalled and formed into division and regiment strength. Assault Units were moved into position, displaced into the awaiting arms of orbital transports. Every indication was that the Empire prepared for war, and if not war, then a spirited defense should any nation attempt to seize the opportunity and capitulate against the Empire. Orders were given out, plans made to re-arrange the primary Veithan hyperspace lanes leading outside of the sphere. In the end, the Empire prepared but for what, was still in question. As Veithan senators and ministers gathered in the government headquarters to discuss the features, the warriors of Veitha stood guard.

The Veithan government coordinated closely with her allies, information flowing constantly between the members of the Accord as each sought to understand the moves and intentions of the others. The Accord would move, and when it did it would move together, as a unified whole or not at all. As the governments debated where to go from there, in six distinct areas of the Empire, fleets gathered. Each fleet composed of one hundred and twenty vessels, all shimmering in the night as they waited for what was to come. Veithan worlds seemed to hold their breath, awaiting the counsel of their chosen leaders and word to come as to what would be done. The moment was dominated by the immediate fear of war, but was laced with optimism as well as hope.

Known Space

The signal arrived, the artificial intelligence which dominated the construct receiving the transmission and immediately carrying out its task. The so called “Janus” network, which had been placed by the Empire at great expense was simply one of the many steps, the Empire had taken to protect itself and its interests. The stealthed sensor platforms functioned much like a SOSUS net of old, the powerful but passive sensors of the network were capable of detecting hyperspace and real space disturbances caused by FTL movements. Cross-referencing the disturbances with its own internal memory banks, the net could ascertain the likely type of an FTL disturbance and through these means, discern the nationality.

The system had been placed in full alert, the data which was gathered provided to the Empire through an integral ansible communications array. In this manner, the Empire would be aware of fleet movements of both friend and foe, as long as they were within range of the network. It was concentrated primarily around the Veithan Sphere and somewhat in space near that of her allies. Nonetheless, other tendrils of the network laid elsewhere. It was high time to discover if the system had been worth the cost…

White Sun Confederacy Space
White Sun
Six Days after the Hudson Incident

The Veithans arrived.

The VDS Yulai a former battle cruiser of the empire which had been stripped down for diplomatic work bridging the gap between real space and hyperspace. Her escorts were twin destroyers, the ships forming an equilateral triangle with the VDS Yulai forming the lead point, with the twin destroyers falling behind to the port and starboard. A channel was immediately opened upon a pre-arranged frequency. The Veithan Empire had been close to revealing the existence of a non-aggression pact with the White Sun when the incident in Hudson occurred. Now, the existence of such a pact would not even make the first eight pages in the local Veithan news. Everyone knew that war was coming, and the Veithan personnel within the diplomatic ship were here to figure out where the Empire would stand. Along the telepath specialist, a single man sat. His eyes were closed, his mind concentrating inward. The presence of the Veithan male was a hotly debated topic, many suggesting that he was a member of the Order.

”This is the Veithan Diplomatic Ship Yulai to White Sun control. Our vector and speed is as follows, we estimate to be arriving in orbit over your home world in twelve minutes.” The ship pressed on, making its way deeper into the system along with its meager escorts. Veithan sensors picked up the Ravenlock transport, a channel discretely opened as words were exchanged, some pleasantries others far more telling of what was to come. The Veithan ships came to rest near their Ravenlock counter part, shuttles prepared to be launched with the blessing of the White Sun.

Ouster Space
Hudson System
Six Days after the Fall

As they had done during the burning of terra, Veithan medical ships alongside a handful of supply ships appeared on the edge of the Ouster system. A channel opened immediately as the Veithan ships identified themselves. “This is a Veithan medical and supply convoy to Hudston STC. We have arrived on the following coordinates and request permission to approach the inner system in order to assist the humanitarian efforts currently performed in Hudson. Our capabilities are as follows, our supply manifest is also being tagged along for your perusal. We await your pleasure.” With those words said, the channel was closed and the Veithan ships a dozen in all hung in the void. Once cleared to proceed, they would join their Ravenlock counter parts in orbit over the wounded world of Hudson.

Bael - The Baeloaren Homeworld
Tyrius Archology - Southern Hemisphere
3 Days BH (Before Hudson)
"Is the process complete?" the lead researcher asked.
"Yes, he should be waking up any second now," the advior counciled.

The man behind the glass opened his eyes for the first time. "Hello Doctor Gyles." he looked around the room, "Was I a success?", on the other side of the glass, Gyles nodded, he was sure now, he had done it.

Gyles turned around, "There you have it, another complete success in a row. The treatments have been perfected, and unless our last phase of testing goes ill this afternoon, I can reccomend going into full scale production of this model, a minor variant of the new generation."

The Order Officer nodded, "Your service to the Commonwealth will not go unnoticed." she promptly left.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All over Baeloaren space corporate and independant warships were pulling into military ports to have their crews replaced with trained military officers and workers. Huge numbers of escorts had already started making their way back to Baeloaren territory, even the forward fleet, which had been mulling around the edge of Monacoran territory was heading back for reassignment.
Since the spacelanes were opened between Monacora and Hudson many escort and even some cruiser size ships were constructed.

By the time of the Announcement the following "additional elements" were available to the Baeloaren Navy. These ships have been built because of:
the "Alien threat" or the "Machine threat" or the "Trade with Monacora" or the "Trade with Ousters" and some even from the "Trade with Ravenlock"
Total:
Carrier 1
Dreadnaught 2
Pocket battleship 4
Cruiser 8
Destroyer 16
Frigate 125
Corvette 225
(Note that the majority of the escorts are corporate built/owned)
Majority of Baeloaren naval assets are ready for combat: 7 days AH (After Hudson).

Etern Capital
Seven Days After The Fall.

To: Hajr
From: Etern Collective

We urge you to place your blade and cannon down. You are reacting on a spur-of-the-moment analysis, and out of rage and grief. Mourn first. Let wisdom guide your weaponry, not blind bloodlust. The people of Hudson will be avenged.. But do not leap to conclusions rashly, or more will suffer the same fate you have. You walk the same path of honour we do; do not tarnish yourselves so quickly out of grief.

Etern Protectorate Zone.
Day of the Fall.

The Etern Diplomat stepped forward to the representatives. "Ladies and gentles. We must retreat to the hospital. There are signals suggesting a coordinated terrorist attack was just launched against a major nation. The hospital structures are safest in the event that an attack is launched here. We will inform your home nations of the situation here. The negotiations, understandably, are being delayed until the scope of this attack is known."
