Oh, and read my post again. Only 1 million of the deaths from this happened in the city, the rest of the debris fell further away, smashing into the built-up regions of Hudson on the contnent around the central port. Recall, Hudson is a colonial world- it's developement has spawned out from a single ffirst landing sight. That means that even if the fall misses the capital by miles, casualties will be extremely high.

Rogue 9 wrote:How is that metagaming? Come on. Unless Hudson's rotation around its axis is insanely fast, the altitude for geosynchronous orbit would be quite high, like roughly 22,000 miles AGL for an Earth-sized planet with a roughly 24 hour day. That sets the distance that it'd have to fall. The rest is just simple orbital mechanics, that I'm sure people in universe could probably pick out better than I. I'm not using OOC knowledge. Thirdfain himself said that every government knows and has tapes of it by now. That's all I need to know to work this out IC.
So you've made up a time limit for how long it must fall in, noticed that(Surprise surprise) it didn't fit, and declared this to be evidence of Thirdfain doing it... Bullshit, again.

Nope. Not possible. The longer it took, the more right I become. Anything over a couple hours and the city could get to the other side of the planet as the station rotated away. A couple times over.

Without detailed information about Hudson's size and rotation, you can't at all tell where the station will land. Don't try to pull numbers on me whan you have none. GIve me people the benefit of the doubt in this- the station crashed into the planet, killing millions, and it wasn't steered. The bomb which was planted was planted in such a way as to ensure a speedy fall, and that's all your getting.

Translation: The numbers don't back me up, so you don't get to have them. Look, it hardly matters what the numbers are. For the planetary rotation to be fast enough to make it do what you want, Hudson would be unsuitable for human colonization, with maybe a one hour day or less. I'll see about crunching the numbers for a satellite in geosynchronous orbit over Earth and then change variables to see what makes this work. It'll be outrageous, I'll tell you that right now.

The bomb's blast was aimed to blow the station towards the capital, taking into account otational differences. The secondary explosions and efforts of the tugs kept it from hiting the city square-on, but it still hit close enough to ensue massive damage and loss of life. It's hardly unbelieveable.

Don't tell me it's impossible at the techlevel, because it's not. You are being ridiculous.

Jesus fucking christ, you worthless pile of dogshit. You're just completely incapable of allowing the game to run without metagaming and pulling any excuse out of the air to ignore it, aren't you? Would you like a demonstration of what things are like if we allow people to do whatever they want within 'physics'? Oh no.. Only when it works in your favor. Asstard.

Well when have I tried to bomb something from orbit by releasing the bomb in a straight line down over a moving target? I'm sorry, that simply doesn't work. In any situation. I don't care what the tech level is; the tech level can't and doesn't change the effects of gravity on a deadweight object.

And to clarify, I'm not trying to say he can't do it. I'm saying that he did it and everyone with half a brain and a calculator knows he did it.

Retard; you don't even understand what happens when you breach a pressurized object in space.

No, dumbass.

Maybe you should take remedial reading?

The bomb was set in such a away that it counteracted the rotation. The station fell near enough to the city.

Once again, Mods?

Again, would you like an in-game demonstration of the joys of physics turned against you? Perhaps several billion railgun shells fired at Pinnacle from well outside the range where you could do anything about it?

Thirdfain has posted that no, there was no fucking steering, no, there was none of the things you are inventing. Deal with it. You have made up a timeframe willy-nilly, and this is obvious made up with a mind to try and discredit the Hajr. Again. You lying little shitlicker.

My god. Do I need to say it... AGAIN?

The. Bomb. Was. Set. Off. In. Such. A. Way. As. To. Push. The. Station. Towards. the. City. The. Rescue. Forces. Did. Not. Push. The. Station. Towards. The. City. I. Should. Know. This. Because. They. Are. My. Rescue. Forces.

It that clear enough? I can say it in French if you'd like, or backwards, or in all caps. Dno't make me do that.

In which case it obviously wasn't a premature detonation, as you claimed in game. Less concrete, but it's still a glaring inconsistency that I can work with. I can live with that.

Wrong again. The bomb was set in a load of cargo going into customs. It was in the right spot on the station, bu tit went off a couple minutes early, which fucked over the freighter crew, because they weeren't going to have time to leave the system. The blast knocked the station out of orbit early, and it smashed into the capital city's residential district, rather than into the industrial complexes to the west, which would have been the center of the blast should the bomb have gone off on time. Of course, due to the fact the station fragmented, and peices fell at different speeds due to the ininterference of the tugs, the impact was pretty well distributed, annhiliating much of the city and parts of the industrial complex as well.

Glaring inconsistency? Nope.

What was posted was a series of events that could not have happened without some form of direction, whether from the bomb (in which case it was carefully planted, rather than premature) or from the Ousters. If he wants to do the former, that's fine. But that puts him in the pickle of having put too many details in his lie. K.I.S.S. *Shrug*

You're such a fucking retard it amazes me. Or you're a dishonest little shit on Darkstar's scale. Hard to tell, really.

1) It was a bomb, you fucking asstard.
2) The direction was imparted by the bomb and the venting, an easily planned for event if you aren't an asstard like you.
3) There is no reason to suspect the Ouster's attacked themselves ICly.
4) The White Sun Commonwealth really is blatantly vile and evil.

But you? Nah, you don't have to act on in-game actions. You just have to look at the OOC thread and decide from there what's really happening, and have your diving rods mystically guide Nashtar.

No, I really don't. Do you realize the amount of force needed to completely counter a satellite's forward velocity in orbit? Do you also realize, then, that the bomb would have to be a lot bigger? Do you also realize that there's no way the station could have vented a sufficient amount of atmosphere to make it happen, unless the Ousters are total idiots who don't use airtight doors? (If so, their navy's going to have a bad time from here on out.)

I'm going to go to class now. I fully expect to be flamed into oblivion by the time I get back, although I'm right.

Not evil, just isolationist and xenophobic. And somewhat dumb, also.

BTW, it is Confederation not Commonwealth, Confederacy or Federation. They are about to be erased from the face of the Universe and they would be glad if somebody called them by their name once. :P

Indeed. I hope you are an honorable and decent opponent in war. I'm reachable by AIM if you want to discuss any nuances or work through any disputes mano-a -mano.

Here's to the White Sun Confederation. May they be enemies of more worth than Laz and more staying poweer than Beowulf.

Rogue, stop nitpicking and work with what was stated. I'm getting very tired of your attitude of "if I don't like it, it never happened". Everyone else has accepted that the station move was legit. The real weak point in Thirdfain's move is that his evidence against the White Suns is flimsy as hell, not that the station couldn't have crashed on the planet, killing lots of people.

This was a Trade Station, not a military resupply or repair base. Infiltrating it is not virtually impossible.

The cards have been dealt. Play the hand you got, don't reach up your sleeve for an ace.
