Lets see John Kerry and Edwards do that, BHWHAHAHAH
I'd like to see Bush do that as well, but the likelihood of tort reform ranks up their with Bush having DARPA build a weather control machine to fight Hurricane Frances.

You'll have to decimate the Middle Class to do this; the rate would be like 40%, and that hurts.

Uh, like he promised at State of the Union a year or two ago? This is what is referred to as an empty promise; why should we trust him now? These things are usually points againt.

I think it will be about Cheney's speech last night and how he spent it not outlining a plan for the next 4 years, but using the speech -- and the RNC -- to solely attack Kerry/Edwards.
Here's what Kerry said, from Yahoo:

Yahoo
"For the past week, they attacked my patriotism and even my fitness to serve as commander in chief," Kerry said. "Here is my answer to them. I will not have my commitment to defend this country questioned by those who refused to serve when they could have and who misled America into Iraq."

Yes, let's not forget about Russia implementing a flat tax and seeing revenues RISE.
Yes, and let's DO forget that before Russia implemented that reform, something like 70% of their economy was in the gray, i.e. not paying taxes at all and evading them because the tax code was so arcane. After the reform, the Gray percentage of the economy is much, much lower. Is 70+% of the American public paying 0% tax and working in the gray market right now? Didn't think so either...

18-Till-I-Die wrote:Michelle Malkin was spouting bullshit about Kerry's wounds besing self inflicted, and when he tried to get her to put up (evidence) or shut (the fuck) up she started bullshitting more, Mathews had every right to tell her to fuck off.
No, actually, he didn't. She wasn't even saying that she necessarily thought this is what had taken place. She merely said that this was one of the allegations in the book, and that it raised questions about the wound being self inflicted. Matthews then charged her with accusing Kerry of "shooting himself on purpose". He distorted her words. And as he hadn't even read the book, he had no fucking idea what the exact nature of the accusation made in the book was. He was therefore arguing from a position of ignorance. To do so at all is unprofessional, to do so rudely and by shouting your opponent down is even more so.
18-Till-I-Die wrote:But for the sake of argument, lets say you're absolutely correct...Zell Miller, a grown man, challenged another grown man to a DUEL at dawn!
No he fucking didn't. Now it is you who is making distortions. His exact words, and I quote, were: "I wish we lived in the day that I could challenge you to a duel." And you should take those words as literally you take the words of any irate person who says something like: "I'm gonna kill you", or "I'll rip off your head and shit in the hole". He was employing simple rhetorical exagerration, which is obvious to any unbiased observer.
18-Till-I-Die wrote:He's not six, he should have the tiny ammount of brainpower required to say to himself "Hmmm...this is live television, let me keep my mouth shut." before he says something that stupid. Did he? Nope...he went all 19th century...on LIVE TV no less.
And you either didn't actually see the interview, or else you don't mind making distortions. As I said, these accusations that he somehow went ballistic, and foamed at the mouth are every bit as much an overreaction to what actually happened, as Miller's burst of temper.

I never said he went nuts or was frothing at the mouth, i said he pulled a really stupid shit on live TV, and i did see the interview on TV the morning after though i didnt watch it live i saw the actual outburst. Yeah i admit i was being way overboard, but it was still retarded for a grown man to say i dont care what context it's under, and as a politician he was supposed to be able to see that and shut his trap befor eit hppened. But no, he didnt, and now he's going to have that soundbite plastered all over the interbet for years to come.

Yes and it's all empty promises; where the fuck is he going to get that kind of money -- he's more or less bankrupted the entire country, or at least is on the path to doing so.

Oh yeah. Give tax cuts to the rich and squeeze everybody else as much as you can.

This from a person whom, as I recall, was a member of the "I Have a Scream" crowd, is richly ironic to put it VERY mildly.

Odd, since I don't recall saying anything to the effect that Howard Dean had come unhinged. I may have said that he didn't not appear to be as much in command of himself as Americans think a presidential candidate ought to be, or that he blundered, and his scream reinforced a popular impression of him as being far less restrained than Americans think a presidential candidate ought to be, or some other comment to that effect. If you can find a post where I really overreacted to the Dean scream, I'd like to see it.

Aw shit. What are the areas he wants to spend on? I'm pretty sure I can guess: Defense (which is ok), Drug War (which is extremely DoubleplusUnKosher), Faith-Based Initiatives (I think the Constitution has a few very stern words to say about that), Legislating Hate into the Constitution (sorry Shrubby, the Constitution cannot contradict itself), and more USAPATRIOT/INDUCE/VICTORY Acts nonsense...

I said that in 2000 when Gore was running. I thought, "Man, Gore is just gonna own Bush in the debates." I desperately hope that Kerry learned from Gore's mistakes.

Yep Einhander, you were right about all except the Drug War, he didn't mention that in his speech. Everything else I do believe he did mention.

Don't worry, that's in the party platform.

Anyway, the convention has apparently done what it was designed to do and more: the troops are rallied and from what I'm hearing, a lot of Democrats are demoralized (Michael Moore himself bemoaned a sudden surge of defeatism among Democrats in his last dispatch from the RNC in USA Today). It certainly was a fine bit of political theater.
