Or possibly because you tend to do that kind of thing. A lot. Usually for little to no reason at all, as the good citizens of Hudson and Jormungandr will gladly attest. Therefore, since you do that kind of thing even when unprovoked, who knows what you'll do now that Hudson has been attacked by parties unknown?Thirdfain wrote:And why would we do that? I think that the minefields that I have in the core systems need further clarification. They exploit the fact that the Cluster prevents the reliable use of all forms of gravity affected FTL (meaning that although it is possible to travel through the Cluster without any damage you must move slowly in order to do so as there are dangerous distortions that might damage vessels attempting to travel at top speed and that prevent the usual accuracy). There are a few corridors a few degrees wide per system that allow a completely normal use of FTL without any drawback and this is were the minefields are located.
Force declaration.
Interdictor-minefields.
The interdictor part of the minefield is located inside large asteroides that house, hidden from anything but detailed scans made by nearby ships, M/AM power plants that are activated only when the early warning network detects approaching enemies. When the enemy is in position, oversized gravitic devices modified to create a field are powered and the resulting gravity well pulls the enemy vessels back into realspace. Just before the activation of the interdiction field, many mine launchers in the surface of the minefield launch self-replicating mines with AM warheads that fill the area where the enemy will appear.

We have already established this sort of thing to be an impossibility because of matters of scale. Apparently you don't understand how big space is. Well... it's really fucking big. And there is no process, real or imaginary, which would cause your core planets to have a convenient bubble of distorted space surrounding them. It's kind of hard to articulate all the numerous problems with this idea, so I'll just simplify it by saying "No."Murazor wrote:I think that the minefields that I have in the core systems need further clarification. All right, I was not aware of such a decission and considered that it was worth a try, but no prob if it can't be.Pablo Sanchez wrote:We have already established this sort of thing to be an impossibility because of matters of scale. Okay
My next post will deal with the telepathic scans of the White Sun and the telepathic scan of the Ouster Admiral. Afterwards, I will throw up a findings report, which will be sent to all nations. I am sorry if it seems its dragging, but the STGOD and especially the scanning of the white sun and ouster admirals are not my sole responsibility. *pout*
If all goes well, the Veithan side of things will be all written and good to go by tonight, tomorrow at the latest. After that, its out of my hands. So have fun!

Aly, do you honnestly think we'd let you into the Prince's chamber with a mechanical tooth? Especially considering the history between our nations?

You never stated you searched. ANd it is an analog device, not much for electronic signatures. Hide something like that in a mollar, and noone will find it.Straha wrote:Aly, do you honnestly think we'd let you into the Prince's chamber with a mechanical tooth? Firstly, one has to wonder how a strictly mechanical typewriter would be operated from inside someone's tooth. Do you also have a tiny steam powered man typing it all down inside of the tooth as well?
Secondly, I think it's generally assumed that when you go to a high-ranking official's office, you're given a security sweep. Most people won't let recording devices in their offices if they would know about them.
However, a certain amount of leeway has to be given. Some subtle cybernetic implants would be very difficult to detect (or disable if they were detected), so the possibility remains.
Still, suddenly giving the guy a recording device sounds fishy. The best compromise would be for him to tell his government what happened, even if it is from his perspective.

Let's see... you're being given an audience with the Prince, you're walking through our capital city, I've searched others before you, and we we're almost at war. Use your head!Alyrium Denryle wrote:You never stated you searched. ANd it is an analog device, not much for electronic signatures. As for nap? No, he might have fallen in, he might have tripped, he might have already been sick and couldn't move when he dropped in, etc. etc. etc. Coroners are not supposed to be great crime scene investigators, they're supposed to know how the guy died, and they found it. You want to deny the claim, we'll give the corpse over to a third party of our choosing to verify it for you.

Analog could also IIc been in the form of microfilm. ANd I assume that given our level of technology, such a device could be hidden inside someones molar.Hotfoot wrote:Firstly, one has to wonder how a strictly mechanical typewriter would be operated from inside someone's tooth. Thugh if have my terms wrong, the method of recording was on microfilm..

Unless of course the Monacorans have the incredibly advanced technology of x-ray photography, in which case they would spot it pretty much instantaneously. And how did they make an analog audio recorder that fits in a tiny little tooth in a persons mouth, yet takes perfect recordings of conversations going on in the room? Did he have his mouth hanging open during the entire conversation? How was the microphone precise enough to record the Prince's voice, while filtering out the relatively far louder sound of the ambassadors breathing, while being coated in saliva?Alyrium Denryle wrote:You never stated you searched. I think Straha didn't state specifically that he was searching your ambassador because he didn't think you would be pulling ridiculous James Bond bullshit. Do you ambassador have railguns hidden in their pens and exploding tear-gas grenades built into their watches? Do you realize that that kind of shit completely flies in the face of traditional diplomatic conduct and should offend not only the Monacorans but everyone whom you have diplomatic ties with.
"Oh, by the way, we secretly record all diplomatic sessions!"
A certain level of espionage is expected, but that sort of crap gets your ambassadors declared persona non grata and otherwise banned from even friendly worlds.

Aly, you're talking about taking pictures from the back your mouth. Do you want me to draw up a laundry list of why this won't work, or will you just drop this idea along with adobe superscrapers and tar roads?Alyrium Denryle wrote:Analog could also IIc been in the form of microfilm. Which is....film. You can't make a transcription of a conversation using photographs, and even microfilm is pretty darn big.Thugh if have my terms wrong, the method of recording was on microfilm..
Alyrium, you put this on your guy after the conversation. Did you clear the move with Straha or a mod beforehand? If not, I'm going to say it should be striken from the record on the position that it is both inherantly flawed and an after the fact declaration.A seach is one thing, but a fully body cavity search complete with removing the lizards teeth to check each one individually... no...

If your four-foot tall lizard people are fitting hundreds of teeth into their mouths, they're not going to be the size of molars. They're going to be the size of rather small needles. And there is a definite limit to how small an analog audio recorder can be, because it has to has a microphone capable of properly registering the sound waves. You're not going to fit one into a needle, suffice it to say.Alyrium Denryle wrote:Analog could also IIc been in the form of microfilm. Not with me! This whole deal is unworkable. Why don't we just rename their Alliance the Axis of Metagaming?Hotfoot wrote:Did you clear the move with Straha or a mod beforehand?

But don't you see?! The needle is just the recording device! The mouth collects the soundwaves, since it is conical, and the actual data device is the tongue! It's nothing more than simple vinyl record techology! No, no railgun pens. But at our technological level, microfilm hidden in someones teeth... The lower jaw is used as a sound conductor in multiple species, sound quality wont be perfect, but it will be there. ANd if it is small enough, perhaps noone will notice it.I think Straha didn't state specifically that he was searching your ambassador because he didn't think you would be pulling ridiculous James Bond bullshit. Do you ambassador have railguns hidden in their pens and exploding tear-gas grenades built into their watches? Do you realize that that kind of shit completely flies in the face of traditional diplomatic conduct and should offend not only the Monacorans but everyone whom you have diplomatic ties with.
Getting a transcript of a simple conversation, one which under the circumstances, should have had a lawyer present, is reasonable. ANd if that takes a small hidden device inside a tooth, then so be it.
If you rule against it, I can always change it to a telepathic scan of the mans memories. Or a neural interface once he gets back to his ship. either way.
