YOu realize of course that the colonists already live in cavern systems, as they are arboreal and/or cliff dwelling right?

So when you say "move underground? you mean, "Are already underground." Ok, so, the point of that post was....?

They CAN move their living spaces deeper without harming industry overmuch... though I edited the post so that were preparing to do so.

Trees and or cliffs?

And then underground?

I apparently need more caffiene. In any case, you edited the post. Your citizens now know where they have to go (if they didn't before) in order to be safe(r) from an attack.

I think the point was he was making his colonies go through duck and cover drills.

Imagine a race that evolved in a mountanous temperate rainforest.... with some of the most horrid predators ever to grace this side of the universe... They would be well adapted for bth arboreal existence, and a cliff dwelling existence, especially as many of the same adaptations apply....

Oh, and Alyrium- citizen-soldiers are all well and good. I've used them in the past (Brotherhood militias from STGOD2 were a big part of the Battle of Coventry,) but understand that even with the home field advantage (fighting in the jungle, on the defensive) the Brotherhoods were pretty much useless on the offensive and could only hold out the enemy professional army (in this case, Krytos Imperial Marines) for a little while. the brotherhoods had little air power and armor, limited antiair guns, few weapons heavy enough to defeat enemy armor, and were not organized enough to take the offensive effectively. They were only able to hold ground, and even then they were breaking and woould have fallen in a couple more hours if the Serenites hadn't arrived with a couple divisions of Royal Marines.

Keep in mind that the Brotherhoods weren't even universal, and benefitted from large amounts of government funding (something your own nation wouldn't have with it's set-up.)

If you are presenting us with just average citizens armed with privately owned weapons, they'll be even poorer troops than the Brotherhoods. They probably won't even have NBC protection and much in the way of heavy weapons.

Conscript forces for defense are fine(The Etern have such in place), but they're crap against a professional army, as always.

Those that are about to get squashed, the begging seats are now open. Consequently those that are doing the squashing are welcome to discuss the manner in which they intend to do so.

Uranium can be used for bombs. Salt can safely be surplused without losing too many giant explosions.

Good point. What about Cobalt?, that's good for killing the soil, right?.

I think you're talking about Co salted nukes, which have the combination of long enough half-life to stay around, and short enough to be dangerous.

I think you're right. In any case it's bad for farmers.

VERY nice map.
Thanks. I just wish I did it in Photoshop so I could save the political layers. Fortunately, they're relatively easy to do.

Ah, Admiral Danielsben...I knew I was forgetting someone. Ah well, it will be made into the next version, once he tells me roughly where he is.

Edit: Slight update to the map, to add in additional Ouster lines to better mark their holdings in Ark Sector.

It's not like their planets disappeared. They've just withdrawn from galactic politics. Theoretically, someone could go in there after them and they'd be an NPC nation.
