Dude we didn't have a UN at the time. Unless I missed something? I'm sorry if I did, but I thought our UN was estblished afterwards?
Frigid, the Falklands War was in 1982.

Edit: In fact, Security Council Resolution 502 was Britain's primary justification for the war.

THANK GOD that your nation previously developed equipment designed to strip mine the BOTTOM OF THE FUCKING OCEAN. I marvel at their prescience.

Or not. Are you experiencing some horrible natural resource shortage, that you need to spend unholy amounts of money in hostile environments to get your stuff? You know, there's great iron deposits in North Korea, but you don't see the USA jumping up to take it. Because it would be horrendously expensive to go through all the shit to get to it, and they already have fucking iron, so there's no point. I see that situation as very similar to our own.
And seeing as what's going to come do you think that maybe this could also thought of as a timed political action in consequence to the galaxy around us?
If it's a timed political action it's entirely irrelevant. If you're trying to provoke a war with the Alliance... surprise, you've already got a manufactured casus belli and your fleets are all mobilized.

Ladies, gentlemen. This is pretty annoying and ridiculous. The planets are unecessary, and I think this whole debacle is a product of boredome waiting for Marcao to post.

If it doesn't stop right this instant, I'm prepared to enter an alliance with the Veithan Accord, the Vampires, and the UP for the sole purpose of killing everyone who is toddering about the Atlantean worlds.

It won't come to that. If'n they choose to be foolish I'll just lock the thread for a couple hours until they're prepared to be adults.

Look, I don't. BUT other nations do (I.E. The Gladshiem.) These planets aren't going to be worth anything for a while, but they will become valuable in the long run. Furthermore unless the Atlanteans picked up the city wreckage and brought it with them, I figure I can also get some free stuff out of that too.
And seeing as what's going to come do you think that maybe this could also thought of as a timed political action in consequence to the galaxy around us?

No comment, but this is not designed to provoke war.
EDIT: And with that, I'm off to sleep, got a long day tommorow.

If you wish to have those worlds disappear like intended and like I argued for that's fine by me. If it's struck from the game, so much the better I say.

I just did that mostly because they were valuable out of position, not much more.

Which is the UPA's reason for opposing this move by the both of them.

For the record if the Hajr offer, we'll accept.

How will it ever become profitable? Think of a strip-mining operation on the surface, and think of everything that you have to do to put it underwater and still get the minerals back to market! It would be cheaper to fight a war to conquer a terrestrial planet than to get anything useful out of that place.

Where are you even getting the deep sea construction and exploration equipment? Remember that with the nature of these worlds, sea bottom pressure will be 2 or 3 times terrestrial average. Unless you can justify to me why you would have these things (or even theoretical designs for them), I won't allow you to mine on the Atlantean core worlds.

And anyway, it's stupid. These systems probably have other bodies in them which you have so far ignored--rocky planetoids, asteroids, etc. which would have the same minerals much more easily attained. AND you could avoid the environmentalists' protests. A win-win.
Furthermore unless the Atlanteans picked up the city wreckage and brought it with them, I figure I can also get some free stuff out of that too.
That stuff obviously would have sank to the bottom itself.
No comment, but this is not designed to provoke war.
You're so clever, I'm sure.

I don't think we can have them disappear without retconning over the line.

We can just delete this stuff and simply have the Atlanteans disappear like Sharkbait intended. That's what I'd like to see ideally myself, as I argued for. It wouldn't bother me in the least to see them disappear.

But if not, I will stick by claiming the worlds. Though I will be fair about how much I can actually exploit them, very little.

Had we thought this would happen, instead of the worlds just fading into obscurity like the other abandoned nations, they would have been under protectorate long ago.

So is it (these actions, not the planet itself) stricken from the record? Yes?
