CNN reports that a Guatemalan dam producing more than HALF the country's power has been taken over by protesters, who are threatening to shut it off and screw everyone.

I kind of doubt the military goverment ordered them slaughtered, but they probably expected that as the result. The Maya indians have gotten some really shitty treatment in the 20th century, IIRC they are looked down upon in all the countries in that area.
