He became concerned and called 911 when the boy appeared to be losing too much blood.

Baxter told deputies he had no medical training.

The boy was taken to Southwest Washington Medical Center, where he received several stitches.

Baxter, of Ridgefield, is married with nine children. He works as a truck driver with Helser Brothers Transfer Co. in Portland, Ore., according to court documents.

The parents have been reported in the past for allegedly failing to enroll their children in school, said Doug Lehrman, Vancouver administrator for the state Department of Children and Family Services.

Baxter was convicted in 1993 for domestic violence, Clark County senior deputy prosecutor Kim Farr said.

I was making a very poorly delivered joke.

Fundies read WAY too literally into the bible. This guy's a fundie. You said he "apparently didn't read it well" - while I said that you're giving the FUNDIE too much credit. It should already be apparent that Fundies don't read that well. Especially fundies who fail to enroll their kids into school.

Jeese this explanation sucks. Basically I was trying to make a subtle joke, but it seems I bordered on the obscure.

The kid is 8 years old. Bathrooms have locks. The bathroom in question is unlikely to be big enough for the kid to avoid the father's reach for more than a three-count. The father is a truck driver and quite likely capable of breaking any kid of 8 years like a Styrofoam (TM) brick. That's a simple scenario.

This guy must be living proof that having children is supposed to be a privelige, not a right. Hopefully, he gets the proper sentence, and not a slap on the wrist like what seems to have happened with similar cases in the past (Wasn't there one couple who only got 4 years jailtime for starving their son to death in what was supposedly an exorcism?)
