The Prince sat before parliament. With him he also had a holo-projector, and as the members finally quieted he started speaking.

"You may be wondering why I've ordered our military to deploy to fight this war on the side of the Diaspora. Despite the fact that we lost citizens on Hudson, and despite the fact that the UPA is protecting the perpetrators that is not why we went to war.
"If you will direct your attention to the holo-projector, you will see sensor readings from one of our Malachi class destroyers that was patrolling our space. They have just come into sensor range of a large unannounced gathering of ships, and are moving to investigate when two of the ships break off on an interception course. Freeze! Here you can see the sensor data."
It clearly showed two war ships, they were identified as Luke class Missle Frigates.
"These are ships belonging to the United Protectorates, they undeniably violated our space and thus in accordance with our previous declaration they have declared war apon us, and the Unification as a whole. That is why we have gone to war with a pack of mass murderers."

There were massive cheers of approval from the Parliament, that was the good side of having almost half of it elected in the aftermath of the rape. As it started to die down he walked out the door, and proceeded into the bunker complex beneath his Palace, he had what could be a very long time ahead of him.

The planetay shields were powered up, a transluscent blue bubble in the vassume of space. Defense satellites prepared to launch off a salvo of several thousand anti-ship missiles aimed at capital scale vessels.

As of thirteen hundred hours this morning Itsilaar standard time (Itsil has longer rotation than Earth), the Confederacy of Itsil is at war with the Diaspora of the Hajr. We stand with our allies in seeking to prevent the Hajr from perpetrating genocide under the guise of justice. We still hope that this affair can be settled in a sane manner, but accept that this is at this point unlikely.

Admiral Resjet Grey-tooth surveyed the forces under her command. Elements of the 1st and 2nd fleets had been assembled and were preparing to meet with Nashtar forces for the assault on the Ousters. She performed the Jekin equivelant of a smile, she was finaly going to command a fleet in combat, real combat, not mop-up operations fighting two-bit pirates and raiders, but an actual battle. She looked out briefly at the visual screen, trying to pick out the gleaming metal hulls of her ships against the obsidian black of space and the blood red of the gas world, it was no use, Jekin eyes were not as good as human ones, she went back to the scanner readings.

Keskit Red-Ear entered the Lord Protectors office with little fuss this time, his guards agreeing to stand outside with no argument. "Lord Protector" he greeted the head-of-state of the United Protectorates as he entered. He noticed a look on the lord Protectors face that he recognised not so much from diplomatic training as from videoes of Montezuman auxiliaries on long campaigns, he guessed the man hadn't been getting much sleep recently.

Admiral Atja su Miitgar straightened his new uniform. The Admiral's stripes down the sides were a snow white streaked with red, for the purity of his race and the bloody courage he was Bound to display. With Lan off with the Veithans, he had been given temporary command. After his victory over Camaro and his services in the Machine wars, there had been little doubt he would be next in line as Admiral of a War Cluster, but he had never expected it to be his own. He looked around the command chamber- it was much larger than his old facility on the Inevitable Ascendence, and had the devices necessary to co-ordinate an entire wall of battle- but then, his new flag was a Cataphract. The Heart of Iron was designed for these operations, and was a superior command-ship in comparison to his old Attack Carrier.

"Seven seconds till realityfall. All hands, brace for kinetic dump."

Atjha checked the chronometer in the corner of his eye- Just now, the fleet over Talathrant would be engaging the enemy. Perfect. Timing was everything in this type of offensive.

The 2cnd War Cluster lept out of FTL, a little below the ecliptic, outside of Bohica's missile envelope.

The Monacoran government has alleged that Alliance vessels violated Monacoran space [insert number of days] ago in defiance of their closure of their borders. We are prepared to show this data false. The number of ships shown in that video could not have been from the Alliance. The majority of our fleets were in port at that time, and we are prepared to prove it. Find attached sensor logs from the major Alliance base worlds, indicating that all warships are accounted for save those sent on strikes against Hajr holdings outside Known Space, strikes which left before the border closings were announced. The Alliance demands to know why Monacora has fabricated this evidence, and calls for her allies to cease their attacks instigated by the treachery of the Monacoran government.

OOC: Frigid, i have not had the time to go through your OOB, so just pick a remote, lightly defended (A couple of capships and some orbital stations) colony at the edge of your space and assume it's happening there

The KSN third fleet emerged from hyperspace outside the range of the Protectorate defenders, formed into their strike groups, and moved in for the kill.

Their weapons fired with extreme intensity, raining particle beam, laser and neutron cannon fire down on any military target they could find.

(OOC/OOB: The 4th fleet's statistics are similar to the 3rd fleet's, except there is only 1 battlecruiser, not 2.

Just for note, the 1st, 3rd, and 4th fleets are the fleets being deployed. 2, and 5-8 are for now staying in Union space for now.

The battlecruiser Demonstration of Arrogance and its three escort Fast Destroyers swallowed out near Tortugan space and slowly accelerated towards the diplomatic Gladsheim ship a bit off the station. It immediately opened communications and sent a wide broadcast.

Following the savage slaughter of civilians at the hands of the Alliance, and the apparent escalation in conflict, the Etern have no choice but to enter a state of war against the Alliance. It is with the most stringent phrasing possible we stress that this does not include the twenty four worlds now within an international protectorate near our space; the Etern Navy is already withdrawing all troops but a small volunteer police force from those worlds, and all vessels are leaving those systems. We will not give the Alliance anything approaching a legitimate reason to launch assault on those who are not yet able to defend themselves, as the defenses of the Protectorate remain unfinished. Our own worlds, by the immutable laws of war, are fair game.

Shi Combine Space - [Placeholder For Some Random Outlying world]

The tear in spacetime that the Etern fleet slid out of was excessively far out by most standards; at nearly fifteen light hours, it was impossible to track ships near the inhabited world. It was very nearly impossible to track stations from this far out. What was very trackable was the planet itself. The Shi prided themselves at being consummate warriors, and so did the Etern. But where the Shi beleived missile volleys at the hundred-thousand kilometers were how you won, the Etern knew the value of extreme-range combat tactics.

A pair of Dominus bombardment platforms had come, having little use at the defensive. Literally dozens of heavy and ultra-heavy railgun cannons swung towards the far-distant world, as the Freedom Battleships in escort prepared to lob with them. Calculations were made. And the volleys began.

At near-cee, it would still take the horrific storm of railgun fire a day to reach the distant world. But, without active power generation, guidance, or warheads, the inert slugs would be incredibly hard to detect and intercept in time. And by the time the planetary shield was taking hits, the Etern would be ready to launch Phase Two of their assault.

It was time, the warrior aboard the leading Battleship decided, to test the mettle of their fellow warriors.

Gjellund was presented with the site of Unity Station and all the craft that had gathered. There were at least a dozen different vessels waiting outside the station, some docked on the arms extending from Unity's primary docking ring, others waiting in space, a shuttle would move between them every now and then.

There were nine warships from the Minmatar fleet present, all in formation, as well as a number of construction tugs and the Starliner Phobos. The astro techs were also still buzzy installing Unity's own defenses systems. Fairly soon, the station would be its own defender.

All in all, this once quiet area of space was suddenly buzzing with activity.

I put forward to a two-part bill, hopefully to be agreed upon by all nations who recieve this message in good faith. We regard the promise of Unity Station as a foundation from which to build a galactic diplomacy as unsullied by this war; war being an inevitable result of relations between competing states, we can hardly expect the presence of this station to prevent it. However, it remains possible for Unity to serve the key and useful purpose of a forum for diplomacy between all the nations, so that if it cannot prevent war than it can at least help us to moderate the occurrence, extent, and effects of the unpreventable violence.

Hence, the bill:
1) The undersigned nation agrees to respect the safety and inviolability of Unity Station, such that no military or covert action shall be launched against the station or any delegate aboard it, regardless of any state of war or tension that many exist between nations having representatives there.
2) Pursuant to article 1, the undersigned further agrees that the integrity and neutrality of the Republic of New Tortuga, political and territorial, shall be respected in perpetuity, barring intolerable provocation.

The Krell fleet emerged over the Brethis system, flanked by the Monacorans. The Monacoran navy had dramatically improved in the last several months, becoming a force to reckon with. But the Krell still had the advantage in numbers and experience. A quick scan of the system showed no enemy ships present, although the planet itself was bound to have defensive systems. Quick calculations were made about the last known location of the Draconis fleets and the Krell oriented themselves to be protected from the likely fleet entry trajectories.

The carriers all deployed fighters, but did not release them into large defensive screens, instead having them hold position along the sides of the larger vessels to hide their presence until a ship could get close enough for a visual scan. The result was that the large Krell fleet made a relativly small blip on the radar. Bombardment cruisers pulled away from the fleet formation and headed to the edge of the system along an impassible entry vector, safely out of any combat until they were called in.

All planetary defenses were inside the bubble of the shield. As such, the Combine navy stood well out of range and took up a slow and steady fire against the planet. They were out of range of the defensive emplacements because no targeting system could hit at that range. Truth be told, the Krell ships weren't doing much targeting themselves, but it's very hard to miss a planet. The planetary shield held, but would slowly give way under the fire.

A few final orders were issued, and the Monacoran fleet fell back behind the Combine as the Combine fleet pounded away at the shield. The Monacorans fired off a few shots as well, but for the most part hung away from the Combine fleet.

There are a few targeting systems that would work. Radio Telescopes(And if you think at this range your ships arent going to be a major source of radio emissions you are a moron), Light Telescopes, and math.

Combining the data from the two "sensors" and using some basic math to get the right trajectories, it was possible to target the anti-ship missiles on the satellites, despite the range. The Data was fed into targeting computers, and was almost as accurate as any shipboard targeting system would be.

Much to the Krell's chagrin, 3 thousand anti-capship missiles launched in the first volley, targeting the Titan and Lance class vessels.

Most fire that didnt miss the planet outright, was rather handily intercepted by the planetary defense grid(the density couldnt possibly be such that it would get through en masse)

The Draconis volley sped through space towards the Combine fleet. The targeting data being used by the Draconis was good, but not great. Fractions of degrees off on their trajectories, most of the missiles ended up missing the fleet by a significant amount. A little under a hundred were headed towards the fleet, though.

The huge missile barrage was detected the instant it left the planet. The fleet immediately began to move, small course corrections that would not change the position of the overall fleet but make targeting individual ships at that range nearly impossible, no matter what the targeting data. The accurate missiles, running out of fuel, were on straight trajectories and the Wall-cruiser point defense easily shot all of them out of the sky. The Draconis techs onworld began to realize that no matter what the data, the Krell fleet was well out of range.

The Krell in their bombardment stuck mostly to energy weapons attacks to avoid depleting their ammunition. Over such great distances, the strength of the attacks was dissipated, making it a veritable certainty that the Combine would not crack the shield any time soon. The shield was still under stress, no matter how weak, and draconis powerplants worked full time to keep the levels near to full.

During this time, the fighter Squadrons Planetside were starting to Scramble. Thousands of pilots got tho their consoles and began their pre-flight checks. Loading ordinance, refeuling, and getting psyched up for a battle. They had to do some kind of damage to this fleet, it was a point of honor to do so

MANS Resurgence, Sparta

Captain-Admiral Ksawery stared at the system display ahead. Sparta was boring. His fleet was just sitting here doing nothing, at least Nomura was patrolling, but no his fleet had to stay put in Sparta. Once again Santiago would get all the glory, and the rest of the Navy would get jack-squat. Though it wasn't like a battle was any fun.

"Admiral, Ansible message from the Redemption, we have deployment orders. Your eyes only."

Ksawery repressed a shudder, he'd thought too soon. Motioning for the data-pad the com officer brought it to him. After reading it through twice he put it down.

"Helm, desitnation is on its way. Com, signal the rest of the fleet the destination. Head out in five."

Two ayes responded, and Ksawery leaned back. The Priest and the Redemption were heading out of the galaxy on a 'vertical' path as fast as they could go. But, thanks to the Ansible devices, and a stargate they carried on board, they were the perfect ship to co-ordinate the entire navy. It was also the safest way. Ksawery smiled as he felt the little push of the fleet begining to accelerate away.

His thoughts were interupted when the com officer broke in again.
"Sir, ansible from the Ressurection for you."

Kswaery nodded at the com officer, and a small wire frame holograph popped up next to his chair.

"Stefan, we just got move orders, guess your guarding Monacora by yourself."

Ksawery shook his head.
"We're moving too, out of nation position, though we have orders to return as soon as is expedient. The Minmatar might have to cover us for a couple of days."

"Oh well, leave it to the proffessionals, they can handle it for a while. You hear about Smirnoff?"

"No..."

"He got pulled from First, too valuable for it. Though officially it's because he was found drunk!"

"Smirnoff drunk? Imagine that... Well Nomura, I've got a fleet to run. As do you I suppose. I'll see you on our return."

"Good luck, and good fighting. Fight with honor."

"May your enemy serve themselves to you with Miso."

Nomura's wire-frame eyes seemed to blink, before the head tilted back and a terrific laugh sounded over the small speakers. Then it shrunk into nothingness as they cut the line.

"Engage hyperdrive engines, take us to them."

A representative from the Union will be arriving via diplomatic frigate. It will be unescorted. We ask, in the name of diplomacy, that the diplomatic frigate be unmolested as it transits to and from the station. As with all our diplomatic vessels, it is armed with defensive weaponry only.

The Union also agrees to any treaties involving medical aid and repatriation of war dead.

The Union has also decided to honor the requests of Gladsheim and other powers for non-interference. Except at direst need, no Union military vessel shall approach within 1 parsec of their borders. And 'dire' means 'dire'. Any commander who violates this will be releaved of their command discharged from the Union's service,and possibly court-martialed.

(OOC/OOB: The Union 1st fleet is currently on course for White Sun territory, and will arrive within 16 hours (it has already been on course).

The 4th fleet was already not too far from Draconis territory when they were attacked, thus the 4 hour response time isn't too far out of bounds.

The 12-hour response time for the 3rd fleet could be a tad fast, say 15 hours?

As mentioned before, fleets 2 and 5-8 are at present defending Union territory from any incursions, as well as serving as back-up.)
