OK, something Verilon brought up unintentianally:

DON'T RUSH YOUR WORK. There is NO obligation to work quickly here. If you rush your work and turn out crappy chapters, your audience will lose interest in the story. Trust me, when you take the time, you can make something worth waiting for.

What about music?

For instance does anyone (Iggy? Kelly?) listen to music while they write or brainstorm while listening to music. I find it to be the BEST way to get ideas is to listen to music like movie soundtracks.

I've been toying with the idea of putting up a Star Crossed Soundtrack thread to let people know what music would be playing in my head as I write the chapters. Each chapter has a couple of songs that if it were a movie would be the soundtrack.

For instance the Star Crossed Main theme would be: Posthumus' Pompei. In case you don't know you probably heard a part of it when you saw the Spiderman trailers last summer.
Wherever you go, there you are.

My favorite for writing fight scenes is Battle of Hoth. Since I write almost completely in the SW universe, I constantly listen to the soundtracks. And the CB music actually helps write those, because the music is quite essential in the episodes.

I find music to be a MASSIVE help while I'm brainstorming for the next sequence in my story. However, once I start the actual writing, I usually turn it way down, if not flip it off completely because it interferes with my thinking.

I actually don't listen to music when I'm writing...unless you cout a cat's purrs. I l;iek there to be noise, but not much...not wuite silence...I dunno how to describe it, really.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but people, please put spaces in between paragraphs. It is VERY hard to read when you can't tell where one paragraph ends and the next one starts. Hint, write in text. It converts easier when you cut and paste to SD.net.

Music is what EVERYONE writes to, but I use television and movies to dictate the general mood of what I write, when I have time. I'll sometimes spend a couple hours watching differently themed movies to put me in the "write" mood (clever, huh?) before I start moving on a project.

I beg to differ. As I said before, I write better ion silence. But there are times when I write to music. My current fic I write best to Linkin Park. At least, where I am right now. Dunno why, but I do.

Yes, this makes it easier to read, muchly. Greater ease = happier reader.

I'd like to say "Thank You" to those who have commented on my two entries so far, "Mystere" and "Justice". They are from my own "Empires" universe, which I have published in other incarnations. I'll try to bring in some more short stories, since there is obviously some interets here, and maybe some excerpts from a couple of the novels I am working on right now.

Thanks again and enjoy, and as IG-88 said at the beginning, any sort of helpful and constructive critique is appreciated by a writer.

Thanks!
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

OK, I've seen a bit of this going around and it's irking me.

DO NOT bump fanfics! There is no point to it! If you are the author and are trying to get responses, you can't force people to reply by bumping. If you are a reader, you have no business bumping a fanfic. It won't help the author write it anybetter, and might actually make them nervous and try to turn out a crap-chapter becuase they're afraid people are losing interest.

There is no shame with a popular fanfic being on the bottom of the page. It simply means the author is working hard on another chapter.

Um this may not be the place to ask this, but as you have mentioned Bumping, is there anywhere in this Web board for me to find out what the terms used mean (bumped, etc), I found Sticky & Locked in the FAQ but others I'm just guessing at, PM me if replying to this would be off-topic for the forum. Thanks in advance.

Um, I dunno. I don't think there's a 'terms' thread.

EDIT: and don't quote something so massive, please.
