:::::::Newport, United Protectorates:::::

The battlestation's shields failed, and the KSN armada's weapons ripped into it's hull, sparking secondary explosions that ripped it apart.

The fighter and bomber squadrons fought vailintly, but against the superior number of enemies, and massive number of PDL batteries, they were destroyed.

"All defenses cleared admiral, if that didn't get their attention, I don't know what will"

"Prepare to jump to our next target"

The third fleet began forming up and preparing for the jump to hyperspace

And got their attention it had. The combined units of elements of Third and Fourth Fleets jumped out of FTL [don't remember what kind of drive Frigid uses] near the planet as the smaller Krytosian fleet was powering up.

UPS Immobilizer

"Power up the interdiction fields."

"Aye, Captain."

"Move to envelope the enemy fleet. They're forming up to leave. It would be a shame for them to skip the party so soon."

"Are our fusion cannons charged yet?"

"Yes sir, but the enemy is still outside out mutual ranges"

"Keep moving, but once they enter optimum range for the fusion cannons, turn and give them a fleet killer barrage. Pay special attention to the interdictors."

"Are those gravity wells on us yet?"

"No sir, we may still be out of their effective range."

"Full burn for the jump vector"

The Krytosian battlegroup's engines flared, bringing them ever closer to their escape route

::::::Just Outside UP Space:::::::::

The Second fleet of the Krytos Star Navy sat in stealth mode, hidden behind a lifeless moon, continuing to montiter transmissions of the battle inside the united protectorates.

Admiral Nakema spoke with his aide

"Conner's not doing so hot, how long will it take us to reach newport from our current position?"

"Roughly one hour sir."

"Prepare us for jump, in case we have to help conner's fleet."

"Krytos Star Empire vessels, you have invaded United Protectorates space without cause or complaint and have attacked our armed forces. We have you outgunned. Heave to or be destroyed." The Admiral turned. "All ahead flank, launch all fighters. They're not getting away so easily. Keep maneuvering. They depend heavily on those gigantic fusion guns. Generate a few misses and we have the advantage." The UP ships drilled relentlessly on, determined to prevent the Krytosians from escaping to devastate another colony.

"There was no such violation; the fleet the Monacorans supposedly recorded does not exist, as you well know, having been allied to us just a few months ago. Heave to!" The admiral looked back. "Missile control, full volley, all fleet units."

The KSN fleet used it's own ECM against the missiles to great effect, hundreds missed their targets, and hundreds more were shot down by the PDL batteries on board the KSN task force.

Hundreds more still hit, but mostly against the larger ships who only sustained light to moderate shield damage from the impacts.

:::::Admiral Conner's ship::::::

"Sir, we've filtered through the ECM, and have a solid lock on an enemy destroyer"

"Fire all aft batteries, and feed the coordinates to some other ships"

The entire rearward firepower of admiral conner's dreadnaughts was concentrated on an enemy destroyer

"How long until the Jump?"

"Ten seconds"

"Sir, We're getting a message from the third fleet."

"What is it?"

"They encountered heavy resistance at Newport, they've lost several frigates and patrol destroyers, and several cruisers have sustained moderate to heavy damage. They are returning to our position, and it looks like they're coming in hot."

"Begin charging fusion cannons, and bring us behind the moon. Use it to hide from their sensors. When they come out of FTL, we'll move out and ambush them"

The pilots were ready and their ships engines were burning hot and they launched. Screeching toward low orbit at mach godknowswhat they hung in orbit, adding to the planetary point defense as an attack strategy was formulated.

TIme till fleet arrival: 40 minutes

SUBJ: Industrial Colonization Agreement

For that, we present this offer. In the times of old, newly colonised systems often included fledgeling Clusters. The Unbound would assist the colonists by more rapidly exploiting and supplying the system's void-based resources, while the colonists would provide the Clusters with food and other biologicals until proper food-factories could be developed.

We propose this old agreement in your newly-colonised systems. We will dispatch Cluster-fragments to each of the worlds, with populations in the hundreds or low thousands, unarmed except for small defense forces of marines and basic point defense, to rapidly develope the system's mineral resources and gas giant fuels. A hefty percentage of the resources would go to the colonies and the Minmatar Freehold, and in exchange, the people of the colonies would send food to the Clusters.

The days of the Peace of the Void and the Free Trade Alliance were halcyon. Let us take this small, unified step to return to them.

-Bondman President Johan Sung, Elected Spokesman of the Free Floater Republic of Inisha, Ravenloft System, Ark Sector

-::-
To Bondman President Johan Sung,

We have taken some time to consider your offer. It is most generous and would likely hold many benefits for the colonies in question. It is with some regreat that I'm afraid I must decline at this time. There is a process that these new colonies are currently undertaking. The process is slow and will take a large capital investment but the end result will be a much more sound complete system. In short, this is something we need to do alone. However, we too remember the FTA and the principles that it stood for. Our records show the levels of wealth generated by this alliance. The galaxy of the time was experiencing a vastly different economic environment with a much less volatile political situation. We are however undertaking steps that may in future provide great economic benefit to the galactic community. I can't discuss our plans as yet, but rest assured; great things will happen.

Sincerely,

Markus Spyder

"The 2nd Ouster War Cluster attacked at Bohica, here" said Overadmiral Verolix as a red light appeared in the holographic display of the Confederation. "Shortly before, the 5th fleet faced the 3rd War Cluster in Talathrant. The magnitude of the defeat cannot be forgotten. We lost one dreadnought, two cruisers and every torpedo frigate in the 5th fleet and only a timely retreat prevented its complete destruction. Unfortunately, the battle stations, shipyards and sensor networks of both systems were lost with all hands after the Hajr rejected a ceasefire for the evacuation of the installations."

Angry murmuring spouted out from among the groups of gathered officers some phisically attending the meeting and some as holographic projections. When Verolix cleared his throat, silence returned.

"You are officers of the White Sun, the last line of defense of the Confederation. Don't allow hate to control your actions, for it will doom you. Keep your minds devoid of emotion when fighting the Ousters, because they are the most dangerous enemy we have ever faced. As the battle of Talathrant has made extremely clear, the Hajr likes to use numerical superiority against us... Not that the battle of Talathrant was a masterpiece of military estrategy in our part. The very idea of splitting a force already vastly outnumbered is so stupid that if the Admiral had survived I would have demoted him from his position and perhaps have him prosecuted for putting the lives of his men in danger with a stupid attack."

"Four fleets. Two attack squadrons. And the units from the 5th fleet that will allow us to replace our losses for some time. This is what we have. From this moment, the navy will be divided in two battle fleets, composed by the elements of two of the former fleets and one of the attack squadrons. This force should be enough to even the odds in battle against one War Cluster if used properly. Both battle fleets will stay in full time red alert in secret points of Deep Space half an hour away from two core systems. The star density of the cluster allows us to do so. Battle fleet A will protect Grabia and Home. Battle fleet B will protect Prextazsa and the Pervatia system. The early warning networks will give us at least fifteen minutes of time to react and I am sure that even Australis will be able to hold for longer with its weak planetary shield."

"There are other things that we have learned from Talathrant. The Bureau of War Science has proposed a couple of things that for once are actually inteligent. We know that the Ousters are fond of electronic warfare against our hunter killer torpedoes and we can counter that in several ways..."

Monacoran Space

"Attention Monacoran command, Minmatar vessels are standing by throughout your territory. Our relief force is ready to assist your defensive efforts."

The Minmatar would abide by the terms of the mutual defense pact between themselves and Monacora, afterall there may come a time when the Minmatar will require their neighbors to return the favour. Minmatar involvement in the war was strictly security, still yet to declare war on any of the powers. This was probably just as well considering Unity Station and the large garrison of Minmatar warships currently monitoring the Tortuga system. The Minmatar had no desire to fight but was compelled to respect their treaty obligations. This would certainly make things interesting as far as the alliance was concerned, at least it would if any of them had any plans towards the Monacoran colonies.

Unity Station

With the new weapon systems completed work still continued outside on adapting the new modules. All this while the delegates inside continued their discussions. However, some of the work was also being brought inside as a few workers and droids went about the as yet unused corridors making a few subtle adjustments. An additional grating here to cover up the venting, some carefully placed textured removable panels here and a pot plant or two here. It was a slow process but gradually work was being done to improve the aesthetic qualities of Unity's interrior. Architects had been called in and would soon be having a field day with the industrial blank slate that was Unity Station.

Borealis

"When the avalanche ha started, it is too late for the pebbles to vote."

An ancient saying, with a great deal of truth behind it. Even as the White Suns commanders met to plan policies and to use new elctronic warfare methods, they recieved the message- Kinetic plumes detected in the upper bands of hyperspace over Borealis. It was clear that an attack had been aimed at that world all along- vessels must have been en route even as Bohica and Talathrant fell.

The fact that the 2nd and 3rd War Clusters had dropped off the warning network did not improve anyone's mood about the situation.

Already, they recieved reports from Borealis- the Hajr was making demands.

<< THIS SYSTEM IS TO STAND DOWN. ALL MILITARY VESSELS, DROP YOUR SHIELDS AND PREPARE TO ACCEPT BOARDERS. SURRENDER MUST BE COMPLETE AND IMMEDIATE.>>

It seemed like there would be little time for new plans and doctorines after all.

(/ooc) It's a wave attack, my vessels were en route to hit tehir targets within the course of an hour. I did tell you that your external EW nets had picked up contacts heading to your core systems,,,,

"Sorry, friends. Would love to surrender, but we got a contract to fulfill. No hard feelings. Eat vaccuum."

The Krell fleet surged forwards the second the Draconis fleet exited hyperspace. Missile frigates far in the rear pumped out their first salvo of 400 missiles. Instead of heading right for the Draconis force, however, the Krell moved sideways, keeping themselves equidistant from the Draconis ships and moving marginally closer to the planet. All guns opened up full, except the Lances, of course.

At the same time, the bombardment cruisers being held in the rear moved to do their job, heading towards the planet and throwing nukes. Big, slow, and both heavily armed and armored, bombardment cruisers were designed for one thing: turning stationary targets into slag. Their strikes were directed at one single point on the planetary shield, and both the bombardment and the ships themselves were positioned to be behind the wall of the sidestepping Krell fleet. The bombs dropped were dumbfire, doing no tracking on their own and having no internal propulsion.

100 of those missiles succumbed to the heavy jamming of the Draconis fleet. And spun off course.

The thousands of point defense guns opened fire, filling the air with a combination of direct fire lasers and flak burst plasma weapon fire. They swated down 225 of the remaining missiles. These missiles were tough, they weaved and bobed to dogge PD fire and were armored against glancing hits, leaving 75 to strike their targets. Mostly destroyers in the screen, their shields flared as mssiles stuck and exploded in nuclear fire showering energy across the stalward defenses of the draconis republic..

The Draconis fleet positioned themselves in a mobile phalanx. Heavy vessles in the back, lighter ships forming a screen on the flanks and in front of cruisers and dreadnoughts. Carriers in the back disgourged their lethal cargo of fighters.

capital scale lasers and particle beams filled the system as they reached out, and touched someone. Burning laser fire danced across Krell shields, heavy particle cannons fired countless numbers of subatomic particles at .9999 c at their targets, pounding them into submission. They concentrated fire on the titans, and Lances, as they could be the most dangerous.

It was then that the draconis missile launchers fired half their ordinance. 57 thousand 2 hundred missiiles suddenly burst forth from heir launchers targeting fighters and escort vessels.

Planetary defenses opened up a can of whoop ass. The Bombardment cruisers had just entered weapons range, and as they targeted bombs for destruction, they collectivly opened up with heavy particle cannons at the cruisers.

[Asgard First Expeditionary Fleet - Orodan System]

The massive Asgard formation dropped into the system cleanly immediately began the operation. The whole thing had been planned and rehearsed for a while now. They dropped into the system at the hyperlimit and deployed. Fighters and other birds deployed, ready to defend their fleet; a few chosen birds were sent to probe ahead. Pods were rolled and readied.

Missle pods were sent clear of the wedges and the multi-drives missles opened up. As many missles as possible in the first salvos were targetted on the shipyards in orbit. The missles themselves were set to 'skip' into the system; each missle using it's drive to accelerate away, move slowly in on the second, and then terminal stage carrying them to their prey.

"All personell of the military works on (manufacturing continent) will evacuate. It is our intent to bombard the targets of military value and we prefer to inflict a minimum of civilian casualties. Leave now."

The message sent and the Asgard fleet readied themselves for the coming battle.

Oromos, twenty minutes before Asgard arrival

"Sir, early warning nets indicate an inbound fleet, reading looks like they're angling for Orodan, sir."

"Well, we knew they wouldn't be coming here," responded Rear Admiral Haig. "Get the fleet to Orodan, now."

The entire Oromos defense force made microjumps to Orodan. They would arrive before the Asgard assault.

[OOC: The planets are in the same system, so don't whine at me about how it should take an hour.]

Orodan, twenty minutes before Asgard assault

"Sensors, have we plotted their likely entry point," asked Admiral Barclay.

"Aye sir. Grid squares 762 and 764, looks like."

"Comms, order the Solar Flares to get out there and mine that general area. I want them back here in 15 minutes. Call up the planetary fighter squadrons. CAG, launch all fighters."

"Aye, sir."

Fighters roiled from the hangars of the fleet's carriers and 120 more squadrons of fighters and bombers rose from the planet's surface. Battle stations in among the shipyards spun up their guns and launched fighters of their own. Missile hatches popped open on numerous ships, ready to launch at a moment's notice. Eight fast destroyers rocketed out towards the projected Asgard entry point, and proceeded to lay mines. 40,000 mines were hovering around the general area when they came roaring back to the safety of the fleet ten minutes later. The Oromos battle group arrived and took up station as the Aerospace Force fighters swarmed around the larger ships, forming a fighter screen for the shipyards. Ships in the drydocks whose engines worked were hastily given crews in case of the need to evacuate the shipyards. All fighters away, the planetary shield was raised.

Orodan was ready for battle in all respects.

Orodan, Asgard arrival time

The Asgard fleet emerged in the system to find itself in the middle of an extensive minefield. Seconds later, they found a swarm of 2156 missiles flying at them from the fleet in orbit, followed by a veritable storm of station and planet launched projectiles.
"All personell of the military works on (manufacturing continent) will evacuate. It is our intent to bombard the targets of military value and we prefer to inflict a minimum of civilian casualties. Leave now."
"This is Admiral Barclay of the NRS Discovery. You have violated Republic space without cause or complaint. If you attempt to bombard this planet, you will be destroyed. This is your only warning. Discovery out." He turned to the tactical station. "Let them come to us. If they want to deal with the SMACs on the stations, they're welcome to try their luck."
