Wonderful...
Curtis Saxton wrote:The RPG "Aurebesh" is in explicit contradiction with the Return of the Jedi text. WEG assigned nonsensical values to characters that are identifiable on screen. With the WEG version, a large fraction of words don't even contain vowels. That isn't language. The WEG interpretation is not just unproven; it is disproven by the canon. On the other hand, in an abstract sense there exist tens of thousands of potential solutions that combine all of the available canonical data and yield speakable (non-English) language in every case. Those realistic alternatives should be considered.

Ah dammit, I misread what you wrote. Yeah, if they made shit up in their review then they should rightly be flamed for it. Personally I'm gonna join the "wait and see" crowd and quash all my hopes for the DVDs. What's the point of living in hope? It's so futile. :? My way you'll either see snowtroopers or you don't, and if you don't it's no big deal.

I'd asume that it's just little stuff inserted into existing shots.

They've asked about it over at MF, so we might know within a day or so.

Still, it would have been nice for IGN to provide a screencap of it.

Considering that I can actually read some of it unaided, I'd say that it is... :P

Someone over at MF.com just commented that there's nothing added to the Hoth scenes. Seems IGN is seeing things...

Or are just such crap SW fans that they think a scene which was already in there was added to the DVD? Bugger.

Yeah, they also said something about a change in the construction status of DSII as the film progresses, but it was written so that you can't really make out what they mean.

But I should expect as much when the first seven pages of a ten-page review is nothing but personal essays...

There are more screenshots over at The Digital Bit's review:

http://www.thedigitalbits.com/reviews3/ ... anges.html

You can clearly read the Aurebesh text on the tractor beam display if you're familiar enough with some of the characters.

Oddly enough, neither TDB or IGN make mention of the changing lightsabre colours that were reported by Millennium Falcon.com members for the past couple of months...

I heard they inserted a few more scenes into the Death Star shooting Alderaan sequence.

Now it goes: Death Star Fires-->Jimmy Smits looks up, confused-->Alderaan explodes-->close-up of Lucas literally shitting on The Original Trilogy (in VHS format).

I really don't see what it adds to the movie, and I feel that it will ruin the pacing and the mood, but he is the one with the creative control.

False. No such change exists.

EDIT: Fuck, nevermind. Piss off.

There's a trailer for the DVD's available on amazon.com. It's a four minute long segment, so people with very slow connections should be aware, but it's reasonably cool.

what the hell is the big idea with this?

Movie Discs

Each movie disc has a set of 3 different animated menu schemes, patterned around the major worlds visited in each film. The different menu sets are randomly accessed when you boot up the disc. However, it is possible to directly access each scheme individually with the use of special codes. During the Attention warning screen on each movie disc, try entering the following codes with your remote:

Code 1 - "Audio"
Code 2 - "2"
Code 3 - "10+", "2" (or "12" depending on your player), then "2" again

Each of these should allow you to access a different specific menu scheme on the movie discs.

Bonus Disc

To access a Star Wars Trilogy gag reel, go to the Video Game & Still Galleries menu page. Using your remote, press "10+", "1" (or "11" depending on your player) and wait for the pause as the player accepts the input (note that a small box next to R2-D2 will illuminate if you're on the right track). Then press "3" and wait for the pause. Finally, press "8".

Look also for additional outtake clips during the credits of The Characters of Star Wars featurette, and funny lightsaber spoof clips during the credits of The Birth of the Lightsaber featurette. You don't have to do anything to access them other than watch the featurettes.
why have the button pushing and shit to access gag reels and stuff like that? why not just put it on the menu? if this is true this is retarded.

It´s always been that way, on each of the DVDs. Yes it´s retarded, but it´s a tradition of retardicity. :P

I don't know how it is with the Region 1 disc, but for the Region 2 discs (well, for the Swedish market anyway) of the prequels dvd's it is possible to access the gag reels by simply accessing Title 15 (when the movie is running). For those of you with Region 1 PT discs, try to do the same, if that works, I think it will work with the OT discs (well, it's 10 days left for you to wait, in Sweden and most of Europe, the box set is released on the 20th  ).

EDIT: IGN has removed the enhanced Hoth battle from the changes list. Moronic reviewer that got my hopes up. I've always wanted to see the deleted battle scene featuring rebel soldiers and storm troopers inserted. Oh well, you can't have everything. An other scene I would have liked to see inserted is the B-Wing scene from ROTJ where they attack a Star Destroyer. Apparently, the shot was finished, but not included.
Well, perhaps more scenes will be added in the future.

Yeah, I found some gag or blooper reel while navigating my AotC DVD. It's on track 15, I think, like Mange said.

OT:
So they did change Sebastian Shaw into Hayden Christensen? Well, like I've said before, I hope they change Luke's reaction too, because he can in no way recognize an Anakin looking like Hayden as his father, so his expression should be more like "Who TF is that?!". Funny, though, that Hayden seems to have his hair cut (or, rather, uncut) like me :P . But why is he looking straight into the camera in this pic? Who the hell is he looking at?

And I don't like the Emperor's new hologram. It looks scary, like a zombie, and not at all like Ian McDiarmid.

He's looking at the SW fans in the audience, telling them the Dark Side will prevail. Ah I love melodrama... :D

To be truthful, I don't want Hayden replacing Sebastian Shaw. It doesn't make much sense unfortunately. As you said, why would Luke recognise him? Besides, seeing Sebastian Shaw as old anakin fits into the symbology of the scene: that Anakin redeemed himself, not reverted to a clean slate. By placing Hayden in there GL is symbolically saying that his redemption wiped the slate clean and returned Anakin to a position of pre-fall. I find that to be rather dubious at best.

He's just making Obi-Wan's statement that Anakin was "destroyed" when he became Darth Vader true- Anakin ceased to exist when he turned, so there you have it.

Impossible. If it were true, Anakin would never have reasserted himself at the crucial 11th Hour moment. Obi-wan WAS wrong, Luke was right. Why is GL screwing with that? :?

Actually, they are both right in the end. He did die, but Luke believed in him enough to bring him back.

All I can say it one day maybe Lucas will come out with some 15 disc collection in which we can mix and match all the clean-ups with all the bits we want.

He'll call it "You too can be George" Star Wars collection.

Is there any word about the "lost scenes" making it on any of the disks? Such as all the Biggs, Toshi Station, and first take of the cantina scene found on the "Behind The Magic" CD-ROMs?

I applaud the Emperor change in TESB. And ever since seeing Lord Vader unmasked and looking like Egghead from the old Batman TV show, I've wanted them to redo that scene. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they did.

Or, they could make all new scenes and make it a "Choose Your Own Adventure" set.
