Advanced Jedi Starfighter (Spoiler Warning)

Post by Executor32 »

Just found this on Wikipedia:

Image

It looks kinda interesting, plus it bridges the gap between the KDY Jedi starfighter and the Empire's TIE fighters. Unfortunately, it keeps reminding me of the Acolyte fighters from Homeworld: Cataclysm.
どうして?お前が夜に自身お触れるから。
Long ago in a distant land, I, Aku, the shape-shifting Master of Darkness, unleashed an unspeakable evil,
but a foolish samurai warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me. Before the final blow
was struck, I tore open a portal in time and flung him into the future, where my evil is law! Now, the fool
seeks to return to the past, and undo the future that is Aku...

If you had checked the Episode III Spoiler thread, you'd know about it by now- pics of this fighter were made available on SW Insider. I have much larger versions :)

Yes, it is genuine. That particular model is Anakin's starfighter, you can see R2-D2. Obi-Wan's is red, but basically the same. It reminds me of a Kilrathi Dralthi fighter from Wing Commander, personally.

God damn, that thing is an ugly uber piece of shit. A cockpit of a Bwing with traces of the MF. The puny Tie fighter wings, blah. Some how, I hope it is a casualty of the editing room.

How can R2 possibly fit in that thing?

Really, I've only looked at spoilers alittle (Want to be surprised as much as possible) is this 'thing' really going to be in the movie?

God I hope not. Fanboys should not make ships for the movies. :finger:

It doesn't look that bad... though it begs the question, "Where the F%@# is the rest of the fighter?!?!"

Scrap the B wing cockpit, and it looks like a mix of the Tie and a droid fighter. The big old cockpit on top makes it look like a cut and paste job.

I keep thinking of the ID4 alien's fighters, and how this SW fighter will probably meneuver close to that ID4 fighter. It is just too scrunched. I don't mind the cockpit, or the little wings, but its too fat... if you get what I'm saying?

Yes its in the movie- its the primary fighter of at least Anakin and Obi-Wan in the opening battle over Coruscant, and probably the rest of the Jedi Knights present. This is rock solid fact.
How can R2 possibly fit in that thing?
There's a head-on view of Obi-Wan's fighter, and again it shows that, just like with Obi-Wan's previous Aethersprite, the R4 droid head can't possibly have a body that can fit- however, I an extreme closeup of R2-D2 in his socket on Anakin's version shows it to be different- Anakin's fighter may be customized to have a more shallow well, as R2s body and arms are visible on the dorsal side, unlike Obi-Wan's.

I'd post the three large pictures of it, but then again I don't want to get into trouble with Lucasfilm ...

Personally, I like it.

Personally, I like it.

I guess every ones entitled to their strokes.

I don't think I'd mind it if it weren't for the cockpit. The body and its MF-ish mandibles is ok imo, so is the Tie like winglets. I just don't like the cockpit placement. It makes it look like a cut and paste uber job.

I hope it goes through refinment in post production.

Unlikely, the closeup of Anakin's fighter is a real prop used for filming in-cockpit shots for the pilots, the fighter looks like it does in those CG images. It's got huge laser cannons which I like very much.

Kinda looks like the result of a night on the town between an A-Wing and a TIE-interceptor
"Of course, what would really happen is that in Game 7, with the Red Sox winning 20-0 in the 9th inning, with two outs and two strikes on the last Cubs batter, a previously unseen meteor would strike the earth, instantly and forever wiping out all life on the planet, and forever denying the Red Sox a World Series victory..."

In the cut outs of the manibles? Or in the wings like Ties? Hard to tell with the pic I'm working with.

Along the inside of the mandibles, yup- they extend basically from the TIE-style forward window onward.

Nah, more like a T-47 speeder, a YT-1300 freighter, and a TIE fighter knocked-up an Aethersprite. :?

And with that in mind I have to wonder what is wrong with the Aethersprite. I mean, do we get to see it in Ep3 at all?

Wheee.. another micro-fighter that has no bearing to the massive ships we saw in the OT! How the hell do they expect SW fighters to pack all that hardware into a tiny frame, again?

Well, the TIE series certainly weren't massive; just look at it that way. If the ARC 170 concept art bears any similarity to the actual "Clonefighter" we're going to see, that's certainly going to be sizeable.

Yeah, but the TIE series wasn't packing hyperdrives, shields, and missile launchers. They were basically engines with guns.
It's Rogue, not Rouge!
