Burnout 3: Takedown

Post by SylasGaunt »

Greatest. Racing Game. Ever.

Maybe it's the fact that no other car based games aside from Twisted Metal have been all that fun for me.. or maybe it's just the novelty of crashmode but I love this game. Awesome graphics, custom soundtracks, and an entire mode dedicated to causing the greatest amount of automotive havoc possible.. great stuff.

It's not just you. I've had all three burnouts now. I'm letting a friend borrow 2 right now. This games is simply unbelievable. I'd shit on every copy of NFS and Ridge Racer if I could, but this game is just plain fucking awesome. I just got it tuesday when it came out, but I've played several hours on it already, and a friend of mine has been over every night to play it. We unlocked several cars on the first night just doing all the crashes. We've all taken turns in the world tour, either someone racing, or doing the time trial and shit. Outside of the GT series, this is the car/racing game for everyone. It's just that fucking awesome. If you have any car games that are stale or just never trully excited you, trade them in for this one title. Everyone that likes a kick ass game of kick ass, heh, then you need this one.

That's another thing. The graphics have finally caught up to the game, although, I think the gameplay has ultimately suprassed anything you could use short of holodeck technology. Heh. I usually don't hate on graphics too much, because they don't really make the game but it always got to me that they looked like micro machines. They were squatty and rounded, the action and the gameplay was still solid. It's always been a series that has been far more fun to play then any of the other 'arcade' posers. I'm just glad the graphics have finally been tweeked. The scenery, backgrounds, terrain are all ramped up, they really zip by in some impressive detail. Plenty of little effects when hitting the car, during wrecks any explosions, simply eye dazling. The cars. In the garage they seem to be the transition from the jelly bean rollers to the nitro pushin cars you see in the game. Once your on the line though it's fucking unreal. Sweet!

Just WOW. It plays perfectly, looks great, sounds great and online too! If you own a PS2 or X-Box pick it up.

So what's the highest you've gotten on Crash Mode guys? I've managed to break 2 million once and I've got almost a dozen million+ scores. I tend to average around 5-8 hundred thousand though.

I was going to say your full of shit, but then again, we've only unlocked a handful of crash modes so far, and those push you to 500k so far. When we first started you could barely manage 200k, and to us this was a FAR cry to to Burnout 2 which we had just played the week before and were racking up close to 30 mil and even 40 mil. Either way, it promises to have some absolutely destructive wrecks.

Which would have resulted in me grabbing a screen-cap with my digital camera and some embarassment on your end.

But yeah later crash modes have gold medal requirements well in excess of 500K
