Nope, because the trend is moving towards FUBU and Filas these days based on what I'm seeing in the subsidized housing projects near my area.

Adding to some of the things already said, add some serious teeth to requirements that students go to school or else, and make it much harder to get a permit for home-schooling. Also get in some anti gender discrimination laws in there. All these reforms mean nothing if the boys go to school and become outwardly Secularized but then the girls are just handed off to be married at 14 and do nothing but pop out babies and be beaten by their FUBU wearing hard-rocking Muslim husbands.

I'm saying that without change at the fundamental levels, the Secularization will only be window dressing. They'll dress like everyone else, but they'll have the exact same mindset. And if you don't get the girls, they'll just be married off to people who don't change and pop out a large new generation of people you'll either have to try to assimilate anew or release Shep before they take over.

Although these aren't Muslims we're talking about, but East Indians. Cerritos is an affluent community, which seems to have money to throw away on things like a $30 million dollar library who's facade is covered with Titanium. (My fiancee hates it, asnd she's a library fan. There's more computers there than books). Anyway, Cerritos has a large East Indian community, and its getting larger. The richer Indian families routinely buy two houses next to one another, tear both down, and build a 4 story mansion! Some of these have underground parking! Its gotten so bad Cerritos began imposing restrictions on this practice.

The East Indians have pretty much taken over a section of neighboring city Artesia, with Indian themed shops taking over a huge section of Pioneer boulevard. Its unofficially known as "Little India"

There is a huge controversy brewing about whether or not Cerritos should put a sign up on the 91 freeway declaring the existance, officially, of Little India

While this has been brewing, the sponsors for Pro-Little India have been a bit sneaky; they've "adopted" a section of the 91 freeway (Special interest groups "adopt-a-highway" for cleanup, and get a sign posted for their efforts) and so they DO have a "Little India" sign up right now!

It's amusing that you can tell which way the trenda are going by looking at subsidized housing projects.

Others have proposed good things like teaching science and civics in schools, and making the children learn English to get by in the country, but I'd like to focus on cultural assimilation. Aid the pop culture companies in bombarding the Islamic enclave. Have the zoning boards put Crass Commercialism Zones right next to the mosques. Pass a law stating that public exhibition of pornography is legal, and deal harshly with anyone who defaces the new "artistic billboards". Make those horny teens decide between strict religious culture and the frantic exhortations of their gonads. We all know which usually wins.

Let them have TVs and computers with unfiltered internet access (if not in the homes, then in libraries and schools). Legalize drugs, move the drinking age down to 18, tell the police to be lax in their enforcement of the restrictions on softer drugs and alcohol; I don't know if this will do anything about cultural assimilation, but it's a damn good idea and may help somehow.

And if we can't turn them into Puff Daddy wannabe ghetto boyz, we can at least turn them into people who buy the latest designer burkas. There's money to be made here.

Ouch; damn good point. But how do you get rid of (or significantly reduce) rampant sexism? What sort of anti-descrimination laws do you have in mind? Punishing wife-beaters is hard to do if the wives are indoctrinated not to report it, and subservient women can't be liberated just by legally declaring them free.

There is some feminism in movies (although the only one I can think of offhand is Mulan), and I would say that exposure to pop culture could help quite a bit. But will it be enough? And if it isn't, what then?

Ineraction is key.

There should be busing between the schools in Seculularia, get all the kids to meet and greet each other.

The "Kill non-English classes at third grade" is a good one as well, although I would point out generations of Germans, Italians, and miscellaneous became Americna citizens just fine without any "Bi-lingual" education.
