Interesting if it works. Curious to see if it emulates as fast as they claim.

If true, it will be the most amazing and important breakthrough for some time to come, but I'll believe it when I see it.

eh. i have a hard time believing that someone's actually managed to make this kind of emulator. it's bound to be huge in size if they did though. . . .guess we'll just have to take a wait and see stance.

If it increases performance by caching a lot of the translated blocks of code, then you're going to need a crapload of memory.

Perhaps the reason why they're targeting the mainframe and server markets?

There's one problem with this.

Even assuming it works, and it removes the processor barrier (therefore, no difference between a Windows/ppc and Windows/x86 binary), you STILL won't be able to run binaries of different OSes, because of conflicting API's.

This will be most useful for Linux, since Linux-PPC will now be able to run anything Linux-x86 can. Additionally, Linux has WINE, and now you'd be able to install WINE in Linux-PPC and run Windows programs on a Mac, although without the Mac OS, lol.

It would also be useful if Microsoft by some slim chance decided to port Windows to run on Macs. If Microsoft did this, then suddenly, Mac users could buy Windows for Mac and run Windows games and programs on their Mac, dual booted with OS X. While this might mean a lot of people would buy Macs, it would also mean that those people would have to buy extra copies of Windows XP AND would be able to use Windows software on Macs, which would spell profit for Microsoft. This is just speculation, however. I'd like it if they did this, but I doubt they will.

And of course, if Apple decided to release OS X for x86 (equally unlikely), they could do it without people being unable to run Mac programs.

Oh, and it'd make the Darwine Project a LOT easier. It can already run Windows/PPC binaries in OS X.
