They have already with the likes of Jack van Impe. My mother seems to think the erosion of the "sign of God" and not stupidity.

However, the state and federal government is actually trying to reverse it, but more could be done like sending all sediment to the delta instead of the Basin. The only reason South Louisiana exists is because of the most recent Ice Age. My house was 50 feet underwater 7500 years ago and probably will be a thousand from now. The whole area is at sea level and lower, but it was Bivennue's fault for creating a metropolis on a marsh. A local cyclist who went across Europe told me Venice was getting 2-3 feet more water in the water than usual and facing the same problem.

Latest from CNN Headline News is that 75 foot waves have been reported off the Gulf Coast.

I really hope everyone has gotten out of the way or is in a good shelter right now. The night will not be pretty.

My dad told me that they had 10,000 body bags on hand. Yes, I know it may not be true, and even if it is it certainly won't be that bad, but it made me feel sick to my stomach.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

Come down to my office tomorrow. I've been asked the question "Does this have anything to do with global warming?" about 300 times a day since last week (I've somehow been designated the office weather expert)

Folks can quibble all they want about the cause, fact is, they WILL have to deal with the consequences from here on out.

the AP reported that yesterday. it would seem that they are not needed though, the storm tracked far enough east of new orleans.

Well it's official. New Orleans is still here.

Literally the worst we got were 50mph wind gusts, cloudy skies, and extremely light rain at times. W00t. :D

Yeah, glad to hear you're safe.

On the other hand, the hurricane has apparently pushed a lot of humidity west of you. It's supposed to be early autum, but it felt like mid-summer here in Texas.

Then again, this is Texas...
