Kerry should just pick a position and stick to it. The only thing he has going for him is that he's not Bush. The one important election, and the Democrats have an idiot running...
Almost as if they set Kerry up to fail...

I don't buy that theory.

What I think happened is that Kerry managed to run an inoffensive campaign that emphasized his war service while the rest of the pack savaged each other.

It made Kerry look more dignified and his running on Vietnam during the primaries convinced many Democrats that he was the perfect candidate to take 'AWOL' on.

Either that, or most of the primary voters needed help getting off the short bus in order to enter the polling places.

Glocksman picked it. Kerry ran a stealthy campaign and had generally been inoffensive. The problem being of course that doesn't work forever.

And the fact that it only worked because the other candidates were tearing at each others' jugulars. Against Bush, when he's the only guy, everyone looks to Kerry as the one who should be ripping Bush.

Didn't Will Rogers once say that "I don't belong to an organized political party. I'm a Democrat'?

Not exactly a nuclear physicist, but it is well possible that the next head of government in germany has a PhD in physics.
Angela Merkel, the most likely candidate of the conservatives for chancellor, has made her PhD in the field of chemical physics/quantum chemnistry.

Germany is not as hostile to intellectuals as America is. In America, the word "intellectual" is an insult, and people prefer "folksy and dumb".

I think it's all in there. It's just rather garbled.

It's easier to understand when you can read it and go over it a couple of times than it would be to hear him speak this in an interview or speech. Pity.

Oh man, I just saw Bush on the news, reading Kerry's quotes from the Imus show to a laughing audience...
If Religion and Politics were characters on a soap opera, Religion would be the one that goes insane with jealousy over Politics' intimate relationship with Reality, and secretly murder Politics in the night, skin the corpse, and run around its apartment wearing the skin like a cape shouting "My votes now! All votes for me! Wheeee!" -- Lagmonster

Frankly, I think it's just a garbled mess simply so people such as yourself can read into it what they wish.

And what kind of people would those be?
