You'll have to forgive members of the board who aren't masters of the obvious.
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.

Again, I don't believe people should be berating Heinz-Kerry for this, but cripes, don't act like Bush is horrible for screwing up words.
Do you want to know what the differance is between this statement and a Bushism... it's simple here the woman may have made a slightly un-pc statement about a sensible list of priorities... Bush the Leader of America can only explain what Tribal soverignty is by using the word soverign a lot.

One was a badly worded sensible list of needs, the other the actions of a primary school pupil. Thats the differance.
What is odd is that you think this demeans his intelligence. I know plenty of people who may not be the greatest speakers, but are good-intentioned men and women and are also quite intelligent.

You are correct, bad public speaking isn't necessarily a sign of low intelligence. I'd hazard to guess that many members of this forum aren't terribly good public speakers, but are completely rational and intelligent people.

Indeed, actions speak louder than words. That's where the general consensus that Bush is an idiot comes from. The Bushisms are just a hilarious diversion.

Some more than others, but Bushisms are not just "bad public speaking". You can be a lousy public speaker without saying stupid things. A tentative speaker or a nervous speaker are both lousy public speakers, but that doesn't mean they will routinely say stupid things, especially after years of practice at it.

The fact is that George W. Bush has not gotten any better at public speaking, which indicates that it is not a mere public speaking skill deficiency; this is actually the way he handles language, with mixed present and past-tense and all the other problems. Not to mention his many horrifying factual errors (calling Africa a country, telling the Japanese that Japan and the USA have been allies for a century and a half, etc). During the debates he even openly admitted he has trouble with math! What more evidence do you need? Below-average grades in school? Yup, he had those too. Oh yeah, and he thinks CREATION THEORY has scientific validity; what more evidence of stupidity do you need?

A low IQ doesn't necessarily make one a bad President. To paraphrase Maddox, look at a box of Tic Tacs. It has an IQ of zero, and yet it wouldn't do half of the willfully destructive things Bush has. It would just sit there.

His demonstrated intelligence is all that matters, and that is all that has been spoken of.

Well I'll agree with that, but it all still comes down to what you agree and disagree with him on. For those of you who disagree with Bush, sure, it would seem his intelligence is not up to par. For those of us who do agree with most of his policies, he seems perfectly fine.

'Dur, dur, dur IT'S PARTISAN!!!oneoneoneeleventyeleven' No it's not you fucking retard. It is a matter of simple objective observation, for the points cited. Unless, of course, you are trying to say that his supporters, 1) Do not care about gross incompetence and an inability to speak his native tongue, or 2) Are also idiots.

Now, I am sure you will twist this to state I am somehow calling Bush supporters idiots, but that's to be expected of you and your ilk.

That's only because every time you are presented with evidence of why Bush's policies and politics have been or are an objectively bad idea, you just stick your fingers in your hears and sing "LALALALALALAAAA, I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!!!!! LALALALALAAAAAA!!!!".

It's extremely hard to be worse than Bush. Besides, Kerry so far has not gone out on a limb and defined policies enough that they could be criticized in detail (which is hurting him, the vagueness factor), but when he has spoken about Bush's policies, his critique has been right on target and if his money goes where his mouth is, he will be better by default. Once he actuially outlines plans in any detail, you can be sure that this forum will tear into the bads ideas like a pack of piranhas. We may be socially from the very liberal side, but almost everyone here is a fiscal conservative.

Ah yes, the ever-popular "I know you are but what am I" schoolyard response. Too bad it's totally false, since according to your own heated attacks upon the man, he has no policies at all. How can he have horrible policies, then? Make up your mind.
