Its one of the things you can do in the game, of which there are many

Okay.. I'm not as attracted to the game now. Why do you have to get married and woo your wife?
You don't have to, it's purely optional. Of course you're not limited to just one wife, or even marrying a woman.

Oh and the better armor doesn't seems to equal higher attractiveness in my experience, the leather armor I'm using for example provides much better protection but for wooing the ladies I tend to wear the Will Users suit.

Also all the questions here are focused on that.

The game itself is quite dark...and the wooing is like an extra that does not hinder any of the game.

Though the game is short.

Yes, it is suprisingly short; but I think it was worth my money.

Anyway, lets hear some stories, what have YOU done thats REALLY evil?
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.

If you focus solely on the main quest (ignoring side quests, ladies or men, buying property, etc.), you can get through it in a weekend (around 10 hours).

And just to address the concerns of some folks who have posted here, this game is not all about dating and shit. It is, at it's core, an action RPG. You equip armor and weapons, use spells, accept quests (and boast to make the quest harder for a greater reward), and kick ass to get experience and earn new and better skills/abilities.

Aside from that good stuff, though, is a lot of other cool stuff, such as the dating/marriage aspect. You can buy a house for you and your significant other to live in, or rent it out for cash. You can change your hairstyle and facial hair. If you eat a lot of junk food, you'll get tubby. If you get your ass kicked in fight after fight, your body will become a lattice-work of scar tissue. As you age, you'll get wrinkles and grey hair. You can cover your body in various tattoos.

With the right skill, you can steal anything that isn't tied down. Don't like the way that villager is looking at you? Whip out your axe and lop his head off. You'll have to pay the penalty for murder if the guards catch you, though. Do a lot of good deeds and you'll be surrounded by a heavenly aura. Do bad deeds and you'll hunch, and sprout horns. Depending on your "scariness" rating, people may cower in fear when you walk by. If you're highly renowned, they'll cheer and clap.

Needless to say, I've had a ton of fun with it after only a few hours of play.

Oh, and the most evil thing I've done? I'd say leading one of the traders (who wants to go to Orchard Farm) on a wild goose chase, and then when he became concerned that I was lost, I slaughtered him and took his money.

10 hour game? You've got to be joking- how many hours does the extra stuff tack on? I'm a completist through and through.

That's going on Gamespot's review, which I usually take with a grain of salt. I'd say you could finish it in 10 hours if you rushed. If you're a completist, you could probably get 30 hours out of this game, easily. And if you played through twice (once as a good guy, once as evil) you could double the time you spend with it. There are many instances where doing the good thing or doing the bad thing is an option, and you'll get a different cutscene/reward. I'm not sure if your morals actually change the story/ending in any way, though, I haven't gotten that far.

For some reason, I'm having a fucking hard time with the Hobbe Cave quest (where you have to rescue the boy.) I can get through it, hanging on the edge of my nails, (and using about 3 resserection phials) but then after I rescue the boy from that bitchy fairy, a whole horde of Hobbes with big hammers pound on me and the kid. I contiunally use Enflame/force push/time slow, and whip out my greatsword, but they still keep on coming.

Wait till you're a couple of bumps up. I'm having trouble, but it's just with keeping the kid alive. I do fine against the Hobbes, and I'm a bow character using a sword. They're tough, but I move enough that they don't hit me that much.

in barbarian you were able to decapitate your opponents and a green guy would punt the head for you while dragging the corpse away.

Yes, you can play the same character after you beat the game. In fact, you even get a really nice item if you're evil.....

Tip/cheat:

If you buy the spell Berserk, cast it, and while it's active, save, when you load that save the effect is permanently on unless you cast Berserk again.

Thats an "exploit".

Here's a tip: When you walk into a persons home give them a few beers. They'll be stinking drunk- you'll be able to rob them blind and you won't be reported to the city guard (assuming you don't want to just kill them.)

So far, the most evil thing I've done happened purely by chance. I had just finished the Protect Orchard Farms quest and was on my way to Bowerstone for some new equipment when I ran into one of the traders offering money to be escorted there.

I've officially decided I hate that mission, because the whiny bitch runs towards the enemy. I blew it horribly, and when I got to the farm he said "I felt more protected by my underwear than by you. You can forget the reward!" and bolted.

WHAT?! I go to all the trouble of putting up with his whining and doing my best to keep the bandits off his back while he runs towards them, and the punk decides to short-change me? Fuck that. I fried his ass with the Lightning spell and looted the corpse. Found an emerald for my troubles.

30 hours? Shit, I've dropped 40 on Tales of Symphonia and I'm still not on the second disk.(although a sizable portion of that was just getting the Berserker title)

Yeah, when I heard "30 hours" I got disappointed, too. THIS was supposed to be the ultimate RPG? Nah... sounds like it doesn't even beat Morrowind.

But maybe I'm wrong. Nevertheless, I think I might pass on this.

Wow. I actually wrote that. Years ago, when this was still called Project Ego, I was absolutely ga-ga. Now... nothin'.

That's a shame.

Oh well. Half Life 2, comin' up!
