Then new Yavin,

Your oriiginals must be relics by now- the first time I ever bought the originals (legit copies, not taped from TV) was the THX version, then the SE. I never went back to THX after the SE- the deterioration was really obvious on my THX tapes, and now on my SE tapes. Now I have DVDs that will last me till the new format release in a couple of years. Not to mention that there's other stuff on those DVDs that they probably will not release on the new format, e.g. the Empire of Dreams doco. I just don't get all the whinging. I can't bring myself to get that worked up about it- some changes suck, fine, but I just can't understand the vitriol. It's still SW and it's still awesome.

Y'know, just ignoring that we KNOW it's a Kraytr dragon call, maybe it being a Dewback call wouldn't have been that odd.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Because it was basically a reuse of the Dewback sound.
After all, who do we see riding Dewbacks in ANH? Stormtroopers! The Empire's finest! The guys who shoot so accurately you can tell just by looking at their handywork! Etc.
So the Tuskens think they hear a Dewback, boom... Impies coming, run!
Otherwise, yeah, unless the two creatures sound similar and Tuskens can just tell the difference (but not realize it's a guy imitating the call)...
Still, for all we know Kraytr dragons sound like whooping birds. It doesn't sound that scary, so not knowing the backstory, we just make up our own explanation...
I'm trying to think about it from the POV of someone watching it for the first time here, oh well.
PS: After hearing all the complaints about the sound guy hogging the mic on the commentaries about the sound, I bet he says something about this (I hope). Forgive me, but I haven't listened to the commentaries yet!

2. Bespin
3. Coruscant

Bah, I conceed the point. Just pooped in the SE tape and Yavin and the Sandcrawler are SE additions. Still suck over the original though.
They Did put in the red glow of Yavin when the X wings take off, though, for the DVD.

They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

You shouldn't treat your tapes like that. How are you going to get the smell out, now?Knife wrote:Bah, I conceed the point. Just pooped in the SE tape and Yavin and the Sandcrawler are SE additions. Still suck over the original though.

Long ago in a distant land, I, Aku, the shape-shifting Master of Darkness, unleashed an unspeakable evil,
but a foolish samurai warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me. Before the final blow
was struck, I tore open a portal in time and flung him into the future, where my evil is law! Now, the fool
seeks to return to the past, and undo the future that is Aku...

Actually, when I first watched the movie, I had no clue what the hell that was supposed to be.Kurgan wrote:Y'know, just ignoring that we KNOW it's a Kraytr dragon call, maybe it being a Dewback call wouldn't have been that odd.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Because it was basically a reuse of the Dewback sound.
It wasn't until someone told me that it was him faking a dragon call that I figured out that he was making a noise to scare off the raiders.

Maybe its just my crappy X-Box, or fullscreen version DVDs but the CGI Yavin is the least of my troubles. What really bothers me is the rushed look of the "touch ups" like Luke's green lightsaber in ANH, the horrible green boxes around the TIE fighters in the ROTJ Death Star run, and this ugly blue box around Executor in ESB.
Yeah, it sounded like a monster roar to me. Another fan told me it was of a "Kraytr Dragon" like the "skeleton you see earlier." I believed him and saw it backed up in official materials, so yeah.neoolong wrote:Actually, when I first watched the movie, I had no clue what the hell that was supposed to be.Kurgan wrote:Y'know, just ignoring that we KNOW it's a Kraytr dragon call, maybe it being a Dewback call wouldn't have been that odd.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Because it was basically a reuse of the Dewback sound.
