Is that what that was? I thought it was a UPS truck going buy.

It is. It's enough to knock loose crap off of shelves, and force people to re-level their pictures on their walls, but it's not enough to do serious structural damage to any modern structures.

I didn't even feel that damn thing. Granted, I'm up in Foster City, but I should have felt SOMETHING.

It was ONLY a 5.9 ;) but the good thing was it happened in the "earthquake capitol of california" where they have large quakes every few decades. The problem is that some respected seismologists (and remember I'm not a seismologist) think it is a precursor quake and we'll have a bigger one in a week or so.

And THAT one will kill people.

The new said it was felt as far away as San Francisco but I did'nt feel anything today. I'm on the 3rd floor of a 12 story building in downtown San Jose and nobody else felt it. I was on the phone with a customer in Sacramento and he didnt feel it either.

I felt the last one in November or December that killed 2 people. I was in Foster City for that one.

Huh?? What quake?? LOL.

That 6 point something Northridge quake took out sections of some freeways and stuff, so a .1 difference could mean a lot I guess (the earthquake scale is logarithmic or something I think)

Sure. I know people in Los Angeles who don't even get out of bed unless it's at least a 5. :)

Yes it does. A 6.7 is much much much much stronger than a 5.9.

In other news Mt. St. Helens is apparently set to erupt....coincidence? I think not.

Chewbacca, can you confirm the link between California's faultlines from this quake and St. Helens?
