Hmm. Quite true.
Well who knows -- maybe those crewmembers that bite the dust from exploding pannels spoke out against the PTB. 8)

While I don't know the first one you're referring to, I thought the general consensus was that Stormtroopers were a combination of:
1) Volunteers/Recruits
2) Conscripts
3) The remnants of the Clone Wars Clonetroopers

They weren't and aren't always clones.

AKA, its not a bug, its a feature?

salesman: "You'll like these new shield generators, they have twenty-five percent higher capacity, and can reach full strength in 75% of the time normal shields require."

Ship Captain: "Yes, but why do you have the main power relays going through the shield control panel. Whenever you turn them on, there is a good chance the person touching the button will get electrocuted."

salesman: "Oh, that's a side effect. Don't worry about that. Is there anyting else I can help you with about these new shields?"

Ship Captain: "Yes, please take a seat, and turn on the shields."

ZZZAAAPPPPP

Ship Captain: "He's right, I do like these new shields better."

There are pros and cons to this. As Alyeska pointed out, this can be as good as Stargate and such. Lucas has VERY DEEP POCKETS. He'll just throw money at it until it's good. Plus, he's extremely unconventional... I rest well knowing that even if the SW series won't be GOOD, it probably at least won't just be a carbon copy of anything that's already out there.

On the other hand, there IS that chance that it'll be just pure puke on celluloid, or rather, digital, most likely. Do we really want to see Star Wars sullied even more? It's already fallen from grace a bit... do we really want them to just REALLY beat the thing to pulp, and ruin the last vestiges of our memories?

I hope it's good. I think it stands a good chance of BEING good. However, at the same time, I dread it just being awful.

I don't know. Flash Gordon on TV isn't popular anymore, and all the Indiana Jones TV versions, suck. So, why would SW not buckle to commercial pressure and create crap?

I'm hoping that it turns out well. However, I have a nagging fear that it's just going to Voyagerize SW.

It can only take the route of Trek. Look forwards to TPM serialised.

B&B are already doing that on their own quite nicely without any help from star wars.

All it'll do is give them a convenient scapegoat when they finally smash the franchise beyond all repair. (Assuming they don't manage to do it before the SW series comes out, which they very well might)

I agree with most people here.

All things considered, thats fairly minor.

On the other hand, Stargate-the-Series has been pretty much accepted to be superior to Stargate-the-Movie.

Well if you joined back in 2002 like me you would have been a newbie. Atleast red shirt is a better title. :)
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

That can be explained away.

"Over a thousand generations of Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic..." And "I will not let this Republic, which has stood for a thousand years..."

Its possible that ~ 1000 BBY, the Republic underwent a massive change, and by some, what was around before then isn't considered to be the "real" Republic. IIRC, right about then a giant war ended. The one that only one of the Sith, Darth Bane, survived. So its not inconcievable.

Kill him. Kill him now. Don't ask any questions, just get to the killing.
If Religion and Politics were characters on a soap opera, Religion would be the one that goes insane with jealousy over Politics' intimate relationship with Reality, and secretly murder Politics in the night, skin the corpse, and run around its apartment wearing the skin like a cape shouting "My votes now! Yes, and which methods would you prefer to utilize on the man in question?
