For the time being it's good enough for me. I still wanted Frank Welker, but oh well...

And I'd like to see what the question he was answering with that line of how the conditions were first.

Did anyone else watch that Return of Darth Vader thing on the Bonus Disc that came with the OT DVD boxset?
Did I understand wrong, or is Hayden going to be the one in the Darth Vader suit?
Isn't he a bit short and slender for the role?
I guess the slenderness could be fixed with the costume, but how are they going to make him look 6'7"? Platform shoes?

Well the guy who played Vader in the ESB fights wasn't much taller then Hayden and Vader helmet a loose fit on Hayden's head.observer_20000 wrote:Did anyone else watch that Return of Darth Vader thing on the Bonus Disc that came with the OT DVD boxset?

Actually, I was wondering how much height was added by the helmet, and it turns out not enough. David Prowse is actually 6'7" and Hayden is only 6'1". I guess it could be reasoned that most of Vader is cybernetic and that he could have "upgraded" himself. But it won't be the same without Vader being taller than everyone else.Lord Revan wrote:Well the guy who played Vader in the ESB fights wasn't much taller then Hayden and Vader helmet a loose fit on Hayden's head.observer_20000 wrote:Did anyone else watch that Return of Darth Vader thing on the Bonus Disc that came with the OT DVD boxset?

Six inches is quite easy to fudge on film, especially in shots further in than a medium shot (just put him on a platform. hell, they did that for Han and Leia quite a few times in ESB), and if the actors' distance from the camera isn't the same in long shots you're probably not going to be able to notice. He's only in the movie for like 2-5 minutes anyway.

The guy in the Vader suit during ESB was fencing master Bob Anderson, who's done work on hundreds of movies including the LOTR trilogy. They were concerned that Prowse, due to the suit's limited visibility, might injure Mark Hamill, so Anderson donned the suit for the fight scenes; the only bits Prowse was involved with was the last bit where he's talking to Luke, after cutting off Luke's hand.
More info regarding Anderson's role as fight coordinator for the original trilogy can be found in... where is that damn book... "By the Sword", by Richard Cohen-- a most excellent history of fencing in real life, books, and film (the film section, especially, is highly enlightening).
EDIT: As for Hayden's height, I believe that a.) the only scenes Vader will be involved in will (most probably) be in the operating room, or a balcony scene with the Emperor (I've seen set photos of the latter). In both cases height isn't a concern; Hayden could easily be standing on a box in the balcony scene, and as for the operating-room scene, simply tilt the table he's on a bit so he appears a little longer than he actually is. Lucas would be a fool not to employ a few LOTR-esque camera tricks here and there if he had to...

Additionally, for most of the fight scenes, Anderson didn't have the Vader helmet on because it restricted his breathing to only ten minutes of action.
I believe in a sign of Zeta.

What are those orange glowy things in the lower left?
For that matter, I can't make out much of the pic at all. That's definitely a TF Battleship on the left, and that's the battle over Coruscant, but I can't figure out the rest.

Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

Ahem, behold some good quality scans of the Topps heritage series. These were posted by some guy at MF.com.
There are 8
I'll see if I can find their back, they have some new spoilers. One of the cards confirms that Palpatine forces the Jedi to put Anakin on the Council.

In the Galactic Conflict one, is that fire and smoke rising from Coruscant? Look at the bottom left of the card.

The back of the cards are in the same thread on MF.com I think. Confirms Anakin on the Council (thanks to Palpatine´s insistance), partially confirms Yoda watching a recording of Anakin slaughtering Jedi en masse, Padme struggeling for her life as she gives birth to the twins etc.Ahem, behold some good quality scans of the Topps heritage series. Here they are:

EDIT: In the Coruscant battle-pic, I see possibly tri-droid fighters, Anakin and Obi-Wan´s Jedi TIE fighters, Venator Star Destroyers, Trade Federation donut ships , two Banking Clan Cruisers (at the bottom, the ones with command-towers stretching above and below the main hull). Confusing scene.
In insider, Pablo says Grevios is not a force user.
But consider the source. Frankly, having grevious be a force user, Dooku's apprentice, and they are trying to kidnap palpatine to kill him so Dooku becomes the master is far more plausible. Fits with... well everything. Including the fact Pablo usually talks out his ass.

Misinformation campaign on the part of Lucasfilm? If Pablo is talking out his arse then frankly I have to wonder why they keep him onboard as an employee. If on the other hand he's putting out deliberately false information to fool the audience then it might be a little more understandable.Ender wrote:In insider, Pablo says Grevios is not a force user.

Then again, I suppose idiocy is easier to believe than conspiracy.
It seems to mesh more with the story line if Grievous is a force user - He is Dooku's apprentice, so they kidnap Palpatine to kill him so Dooku becomes the new sith master, Grievous his apprentice. If Grievous is not a force user, then why does Dooku kidnap Palpatine? He has no apprentice (unless it is a schmuck that gets killed so quick he isn't even named).Stofsk wrote:Misinformation campaign on the part of Lucasfilm? I can easily see this being yet another case of Pablo holding his view and promoting it regardless of what the films say. If he hasn't seen the film yet (very believable, the guy is just shy of the bottom of the totem pole as I understand it) or has only seen a few chunks and has a mistaken idea of what goes on and he didn't bother to check...
Look at the track record here.

What about this Assaji Ventriss chick? The one Anakin duels in the rain in the Clone Wars cartoon? She was somebody's apprentice, surely...Ender wrote:It seems to mesh more with the story line if Grievous is a force user - He is Dooku's apprentice, so they kidnap Palpatine to kill him so Dooku becomes the new sith master, Grievous his apprentice. Yeah, fair enough. I just thought maybe Lucasfilm might try to fool and misdirect the audience into expecting something in particular, and come the film's release they find out it's really a different direction. But Pablo, as you say, isn't a high ranking member of the company, and has acted like a shithead on numerous occasions.I can easily see this being yet another case of Pablo holding his view and promoting it regardless of what the films say. EU creation. Not in the movies.Stofsk wrote: What about this Assaji Ventriss chick? The one Anakin duels in the rain in the Clone Wars cartoon? She was somebody's apprentice, surely...
It's possible that he isn't a force user. It would certainly explain his death better. And maybe he isn't but the Jedi just think he is, and when it turns out that is wrong, then they suspect palpatine or something. So maybe pablo is right.Yeah, fair enough. Or maybe this is another thing like "Revenge of the Jedi", and it is to throw people off track. But my money is on Pablo doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.

Ventress isn't a Sith apprentice- neither Dooku nor Palpatine trained her in Sith ways, she's just a Dark Jedi. Check the databank entry.
