Creator of Boondocks: Bush is just dumb

Post by Stravo »

They just interviewed him on Aaron Brown's show on CNN. I just laughed my ass off. His rant was like he belonged here on SD.NEt.

"The elephant in the room that people are not discussing or don't want to talk about is that he just can't articulate himself and he's just stupid."

Aaron Brown: "Isn't that a bit arrogant?"

"Why? The man cannot speak well, is just not smart. Its obvious when you listen to him. Our president is dumb."

"What about the 51 or 52 or 49 percent of the country who think he's a great guy and should be president for the next 4 years?"

"You see there are these strange God people that live in the middle of the country that we people on the coast fly over every day and we don't interact with them and they don't with us."

I laughed my ass off. I'm usually not a fan of Boondocks but fuck me. He was just dead on.

Wow, that's pretty good.

I wonder if this will catch before the election?

Did they pull these percentages out of their arse or something? How did they get these numbers?

Minneapolis needs to set up a SAM launcher to shoot down smug-ass coasties who think that the middle part of the country consists of nothing but farmland and fundies. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :kill:

The way he spoke it was obvious he was pulling it off the top of his head. The point he was making was that its a close race and nealry half the country supports Bush so is he saying half the country has been taken in by an idiot.

Having been through the middle of the country, this is totally true. The fundies conglomerate in the Southeast. I'm not sure what tehre is but farmland in most central states. Presumably there are people, but my personal expeditions revealed very few.

I think that's where they hide the aliens, myself.

Seems a lot of people have an issue with calling much of the American electorate dumb. Aaron Brown seemed genuinely shocked by the guy's assertions.

Absolutely right there is more than farms and fundies. We coasties also believe that the midwest also has huge amounts of dusty flat nothing occupying the spaces between the farmland and the fundies. :)

I've always assumed flyover country didn't include the Great Lakes states, but whatever. I think what it may have meant origionally is 'anything not NYC or LA.'

Also, it's not like the coasts don't have their share of fundies and rednecks. In fact, if you looked at a simple map of voting habits here in Washington, if you didn't know that about half the population lives in 5 counties along the east side of Puget Sound, you'd think we were pretty solidly conservative Republican. And I could drive twenty minutes south and be in a town that could just as easily be in Alabama as here.

Let's put it this way: I was hoping that Lex Luthor had the same plan for the Northeastern Corridor that he had for California in the first Superman movie. :P

Oh yeah, McGruder is making the same mistake a lot of people make.
Lack of public speaking skills doesn't equal stupid.
I don't like Bush and think he's a lousy speaker, but you don't get an Ivy League degree by being an idiot.

A fool and a bufoon perhaps, but not stupid. :P

Bush does not just have a lack of public speaking skills. It's the things he says which indict his intelligence more than his verbal delivery.

What makes you say that? Who the fuck can't get a degree in business? What's the failure rate? You can't get a nuclear physics degree by being an idiot, but a fucking business degree? Didn't you ever notice that every college football player who's not too bright is taking ... business?

Not necessarily, but Bush has access to some of the best speech coaches in the world and still talks like a buffoon. When you've got that many resources at your disposal for learning public speeching, what excuse do you have?

It's not that he's just a horrible speaker, it's that he doesn't even notice most of the time when he really fucks up. Like that famous quote where he said "Terrorists are always trying to find ways to harm America, and so are we." I saw him say that, and he didn't even bat an eye, you could just look at his face and see that it did not even register with him the idiotic thing he just said.

What's more telling is Bush's problems when he's NOT delivering a speech. He's gotten pretty good at delivering a prepared speech, but watch him in a press conference or a debate where he's forced off his talking points and it's clear he's simply not that quick on his feet. That in itself doesn't indicate stupidity, but combined with the other evidence it paints a picture of a man who is simply not that smart.

All that said, Bush is smart where a successful politician needs to be smart. If he was simply an abject moron, he wouldn't have beaten Ann Richards and he wouldn't have beaten Al Gore (a popular incumbent governor and a sitting vice president in a popular administration).
