No clear winner. They both made good points and were eloquent and knew their facts.

Up until the end, I would've given it to Cheney. But I think Edwards made up the ground he lost in the last 20 minutes.

They both looked pretty good on both style and substance and Edwards had better closing remarks. But I'd give it to Cheney overall.

Gwen Ifil lost, that's for sure. Jesus Christ she was awful. I thought Deborah Norville was bad, but Ifil takes the cake and the ice cream, too.

I think Cheney won, overall. Edwards is a more charismatic guy, but Cheney held up pretty well for himself, and I have to give him the slight edge on points.

I'm giving this to Cheney on ability and reason

But Edwards on ability to spout slogans and apeal to the masses(Inculding repeating the bullshit about corning Osama three times)

Overall I'd call it a tie.

There were a couple of times when Edwards looked a little shaken and I got a little worried on his behalf, but I thought he held his ground pretty well, and there were a couple of times when Cheney let it show that he was a little pissed about the things Edwards said. Then again, Cheney also got some zingers in there... I think it was a draw overall, or maybe slightly in Cheney's favour. Edwards did better than I thought he would, though.

It was a good debate, though. It was much more entertaining, IMO, than the presidential one.

I listened to the first half on the radio, then watched the second half on TV. On radio, it was even. On TV, Edwards won.

Cheney would have done himself better if he hadn't started bullshitting about Zarqawi. Did Laurie Mylroie write this shit for him?

Edwards should have busted his balls for the El Salvador remark but passed up a golden opportunity.

I wasn't shouting angrily at the screen like I did for the presidential one, if that's what you mean...

Cheney made better remarks in respect to foreign policies. His answers were precise and direct. I thought Edwards repeated himself too much and kept repeating lines. Cheney 1+

In respect to domestic issues, Edwards gave more, overall, and showed himself as a man of the small guy. His experience as a lawyer really helps him boost his credibility that he will fight for the middle class. Edwards 1+

In their closing statements, I was really touched by Edwards story as a child growing up, watching his father struggle. I thought his statement really hits hard about what really has happened to the American people. Costs are rising and job pay is lower. In respect to Cheney's closing statement, I thought he did a really good job of reminding us what is happening globally. We have gone through many trials and are still facing many obsticles. His closing remarks were certainly more effective than Bush's. Tie.

Overall, no one really won. They both held their grounds and they both had their moments. Edwards was definately the more charasmatic one and the more down to earth guy, although I felt he didn't do as good of a job answering. Cheney was very direct and precise with his responses but I felt he wasn't really able to relate to the people.

Not that it matters much, but the talking heads on TV are giving Chenney the first half and think Edwards won the second half.

*shrug* Talking heads.

Anyway, I though Chenney sounded pretty good up there, and while Edwards does have 'flair' there were times that he did look like a 'Law and Order' lawyer, up there scribbling his notes with a smug look.

CBS poll just gave it to Edwards.

I think this is a classic example of JFK vs. Nixon, Nixon being Cheney and JFK being Edwards. Both did good, one did a better job answering and one did a competant job answering but had personality.

I'm guessing here but Fox nevs give it to Chenney

Yep. Cheney and Edwards did a much better job of clarifying Bush's and Kerry's stances than the two presidential candidates did.

It falls on political lines. It was ambivent that if you are a leftie Edwards won, if you are a righty Cheney won.

That we do, especially when the only other option is Cheney.

He does have a better looking daughter, Edwards, that is. 8)

ABC poll gave it to Cheney by 7 points, but they also mentioned the sample had 38% republicans and 31% democrates. Also they only polled 500 people so that probally puts the MOE a little higher then most polls.

Sean Hannity is virtually gargling with Cheney's cum right now. He's swooning as if Cheney delivered a knockout blow. :finger:

Not watching Faux, but from what I've seen Cheney did a very good job.

The general feeling, mine included is that it was close not the impression you would get watching Sean Hannity.
