Craters

Post by dragon »

Was kind of wondering how big a crater a TL would make. Based off the couple of GT on the database. Based off
http://www.lpl.arizona.edu/impacteffects/ Can figure the cater size with same amount of KE.

Turbolaser impacts are different from asteroid impacts or nuclear detonations in that their effects are much more localised, so craters produced by them would be relatively small in comparison.

I believe in a sign of Zeta.

Yeah. An asteroid impact would blow a very large amount of dirt over a very large area, resulting in a HUGE crater. A Turbolaser impact would affect a smaller area, but completely VAPORIZE the smaller area. Resulting in a smaller crater, and a lot of vapor.

In Hier to the Empire, the Falcon actually landed inside a crater from a TL strike on Bfassh. It was big enough that they (Han, Leia, and Wedge) crossed to the other side, then were ambushed in cross-fire from assassins/kidnappers, and had to spring (with Leia blocking the shots with her saber, and the assassins wanting to capture but not kill Leia for her children) all the way across the crater to get back to the falcon, implying it was pretty dang big. The comic book confirms it-a Corellian Corvette would have fit in that crater.
