Ventress isn't a Sith apprentice- neither Dooku nor Palpatine trained her in Sith ways, she's just a Dark Jedi.
Ventress was discovered by a Jedi who crashlanded on her planet (Rattatak). He trained her in the Jedi arts and promised to take her away from her horrible home when his fellow Jedi come for him. They never did.

Eventually he died, and she was left with a hatred towards the Jedi, who she believed had abandoned her master. When Dooku eventually arrives some years later (at this time Rattatak has made proper connections with off-world societies), she´s more than willing to join the Sith order and get revenge on the Jedi. In other words, just another pawn used by the Sith, not an apprentice. I believe she dies or disappears before ROTS anyway, so problem solved.

Grievous, however, seems to be a different case. The Jedi will probably believe him to be Dooku´s apprentice, while he is the true Lord of the Sith. So when Dooku dies, all they need to do is track down Grievous and kill him. End of the Sith.

The latest "Art of Revenge" (for HS), reveals that the mighty Juggernaught assault vehicle from the EU will appear in Episode III. Suck it down purists.

For hyperspace members maybe. For us regular folk it shows super battle driods under water. It says that part was cut from the film, which is good from a technical POV, explaining the massive amount of liquid fuel would be difficult.

The image will be available for "us regular folks" in about a week. That fuel sequence is still in the movie I think, it´s just been trimmed or changed.

Yes, great. But I don't know if "from the EU" and "suck it down purists" is correct. I guess you're refer to the fact that the Juggernaut was described in the Imperial Sourcebook, but don't forget that the Juggernaut was developed for the Empire Strikes Back and appears in concept drawings in The Art of Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, so the vehicle wasn't created specifically for the EU, the unused concept has simply been recycled.

EDIT: The caption even says that the concept was first sketched by Joe Johnston for the Original Trilogy. I really hope this concept painting was approved, for it sure looks cool. The Juggernaut is a really, really big vehicle.

It´s nice to see it in the movie, because it, like the AT-TE, is still in use by the Empire. For those who value the movies over every other SW-source (like myself to a certain degree), it´s nice to see more ground craft in the Empire´s arsenal. Although I guess that part of the info will always be EU, since we don´t see them in the OT.

Bah, I´m a hypocrite! :P

Does anyone know if the IRGs are going to be shown in action? I've always wanted to see them fight someone.

Apparantly, they get their asses kicked by Mace and his posse before they enter Palpatine´s quarters.

The latest PostNotes makes mention of a shot inside a Seperatist gunnery bay during the space battle. Apparently, some of the guns on their ships fire actual shells with casings. :?

Lucas is pushing the whole WWII retro motif a little to far here. I just hope this little tidbit fails to make it out of the cutting room before next summer's release.

Don't be so quick to jump until you know the context. For all you know, it could be some kind of weapon system that does need shells.

Mass drivers are fine, but if there are casings than they are chemical solid-case slugthrowers, which I would've hoped the SW civilization had mostly moved beyond.

Actually, I had initially thought they were some sort of flak guns since the article doesn't mention exactly how large the guns are. What bothered me was the cases. That and the description of the guns made them seem very out of place within the context of other SW weaponry. But maybe you guys are right. We will see next year how they look. Perhaps, they will not be as crude as I have imagined.

Since there´s plenty of projectile weapons in the OT (thanks to people on this site for highlighting them 8) ), this didn´t really come as a big surprise to me. The whole spent shellcasings I can´t really comment on, except to say: Saxton will probably explain this in the ROTS ICS.

Don't count on that. Perhaps the shell casings themselves contains the energy for the shots for the guns (regardless if they're turbolasers or whatever), thus making it unnecessary for the ships' powerplants and engines to provide the energy for the guns. If the guns for example are heavy turbolasers, that would make sense, albeit the shell casings seems to be quite ungainly (especially if they only contain energy for a single shot). Nothing is said in the Post Notes that the guns fires projectiles.

I'm not too concerned. "Explosive solids" in ANH novelizaiton. ROTS ICS will deal with it.

Yep. That statement puls the casings means they could be rail guns, but with a chemical explosive onboard with a timer to create flak clouds.

A thought-- (this is a concept I've played around with, incidentally)..

Perhaps the "shells" contain some kind of very high-pressure blaster gas or plasma, whatever. When fired, the material in the shell supercharges the normal bolt so that it fires a much more powerful bolt through the gun than it normally would.

Addendum-- in the TPM ICS, it shows the AATs as having shells for their laser cannon. I don't have the book at hand-- if anybody could check up there?

No.

Shells there are for the launchers on the bottom that fire napalm or something int he films. The AATs don't fire shells crom thier main canon. THe spark effect can be attributed to regular shield mechanics, and if they are firing regular projectils then you need to explain why momentum was not transfered to the beasts carrying the projectors when the amount of force should have snapped their backs.

I'm not talking about the bottom artillery-- I refer to that ring of what looks very like shells, perhaps 20-30mm, up at the top, apparently feeding the main cannon. I don't remember what they're called, but they definitely look like shells...

Watching WebDoc 10 .... impressive. Most impressive. Lots of spoiler footage, including the Anakin/Obi-Wan vs Dooku fight. Obi-Wan is obviously being force-choked by Dooku- presumably taking him out of the fight, I'd say (and rightfully so). Interviews are being given in front of opening space battle concept art- looks very cool.

Dammit dammit dammit. I just did something I never wanted to do and signed up for hyperspace. The "Exchanging broadsides" was too much for me. Course now it isn't working, I can't enter in.

Wouldn't that put a fairly crippling limit on how powerful they are? I'm guessing that there's no real way to get a chemical-reaction powered slug into the Teraton range unless it's made out of antimatter or hypermatter.

We all know who's going to love this.

Yes

No, it's just take a fuckton of it. So while there are no physical limits, there are practical ones.
We all know who's going to love this.
It has to make it into the film first, and as pointed out it's not necessarily a contradiction. The damn things can't be TLs, there is too much canon contradiction; it would have to be another weapons system.

Why would railguns have casings?
