Darth Maul in Trekverse, ver. 2 (DIFFERENT SCENARIO!)
Okay. Due to the premature demise of the previous thread, I am formulating a new scenario.
Consider this to be more or less the same as the last one (Darth Maul in Trekverse), with an important exception. There are no ships in the vicinity except for Maul's own. He therefore puts out an antenna, so to speak, and taps by chance into the Federation channels. With that at his disposal, he hacks their database, learns all he needs, and then proceeds to, say, DS9, where he can begin his slow takeover.
Remember, he has small technological items (say a cargo bay full-- 2 square meters or so-- you can fill that up pretty full with plenty of small fancy items...) for trade.
How does he establish a footing in the Trekverse? What would he be most likely to do in order to establish supremacy? Would he be patient enough to wait and slowly consolidate power?

It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.

One ill-fated Sith (who by the way died in his first full battle with a jedi) against a Galaxy full of people...Hum.. sounds interesting. Despite the vaunted skill of Maul, I think he's eventually gonna run up against something he can't just "force" his way out of. Wide beam phasors are a good example of stuff a lightsaber can't deflect. Shock grenades, or just plain numbers of phasors will eventually overcome him.

Actually, the force users are trained to absorb a certain amount of energy (remember in TESB when Vader stoped Han's blasts with his hand? this ability is well known. So if he can't deflect the phaser blast with his light sabre he can try to absorb it), I don't think phasers would be that dangerous to him.kinkade0001 wrote:he's eventually gonna run up against something he can't just "force" his way out of. I really don't understand why in both scenarios everyone assumes he will brute force his way to dominance when what we've consistently seen is that Sith move slowly and secretly to gather power for a long time before they cut loose.

although maul tended to be a weapon instead of subtle.
I think being a sith would have him be cautious though. my bet is he keeps an eye out for a new apprentice, and slowly inches his way up through starfleet as an empath.
troi vs maul would be kinda funny.

and a fun bonus is precog and jedi speed - you can try to ambush him, but odds are, hes moving before youve pulled the trigger.ANGELUS wrote:Actually, the force users are trained to absorb a certain amount of energy (remember in TESB when Vader stoped Han's blasts with his hand? this ability is well known. Dunno about large amounts of raw energy, but Jedi CAN resist stun (see Heir to the Empire), so no wide-beam stun...ANGELUS wrote:Actually, the force users are trained to absorb a certain amount of energy (remember in TESB when Vader stoped Han's blasts with his hand? this ability is well known. If someone tried to wide-beam stun him, he'd be dead of a broken neck before he could pull the trigger anyway.
Haven't you people ever watched DS9? If Darth Maul showed up on DS9 he's be given the first contact alien greeting ass-kissing reception, the way they treat all unknown alien species. This notion of him having to fight his way through resistance is idiotic; he would march onto the station, Quark would be trying to sell him something, Sisko would shake his hand, and he would be able to move around freely.
And all of this Section 31 talk is a waste of breath; Section 31 is useless. They were never able to gather much in the way of useful intel about the enemy, and they only proved themselves good at terrorizing and investigating their own citizens. They were proud of themselves for knowing who was in power and who wanted power in the Romulan Empire: not exactly classified military intel. How many times was the Federation blind-sided by something completely unexpected, and undiscovered by Section 31? The extent of Cardassian defenses around Cardassia Prime at the end, the introduction of the Breen into the battle, Gul Dukat's destruction of the wormhole minefield (something that they never would have learned about if not for Jake Sisko), etc. They're useless, and I'm sick of people trying to talk Section 31 up into some kind of super-shadow organization. The only thing they ever really did was terrorize the occupants of DS9 and make a bioweapon.

While more efficient, don't you prefer the Darth Vader style hold-your-open-palm-out-absorb-and-deflect-blaster-shot-then-yank-it-from-his-hand?Darth Wong wrote:If someone tried to wide-beam stun him, he'd be dead of a broken neck before he could pull the trigger anyway.
