A moment of silence for Christopher Reeve
Moderators: Alyrium Denryle, Edi, K. A. Pital
Although my mother was never a huge comics fan (that role, was left up to me) and that the film of her generation wasn't Superman but the Rocky Horror Picture Show) she always respected and admired Reeve for his courage in facing his paralysis. I can recall her first hearing about the accident with clear clarity; she was visibly shocked. The idea that the Superman could still show his will power and love of life, even paralyzed, I think gave her some degree of strength in fighting her cancer during its early stages (aside from wanting to keep harassing me as long as she could ).
Thnak you for your inspiration to her and to countless others, Mr. Reeve (and coming from a Batman fan like myself, this truly comes from the bottom of my heart).

His will and determination was nothing short of inspiring. He learned to move his finger, was able to breathe for a short period of time without a respirator regained his senses of taste and smell, and even began to feel sensations in his body....Shinova wrote:From all looks of it, he could've walked again in the future.
Really sorry news this is.

We just lost a good man.
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

Although I said a comment about him recently that I now regret somewhat, I have to say that his eventual fight in life against such debilitating diseases (ironically his accident happened the same year his last movie came out about a cop paralysed by a bullet) was quite exemplary.
Make no mistake. Reeve as a fighter for the curing of neurodegenerative and other neurological problems did more for the world than any fictional superhero could. For that he will truly be remembered.

As soon as I found out, my eyes started to tear up, so I'm going to post what I posted at another forum.
Reeves was a fine actor and in my opinion, WAS Superman. Not just because he played Superman, but because he didn't give up on life when he was paralyzed. No, he stood his ground (metaphorically) and fought back. He wowed the world and gave hope when he managed to move his feet a few times. He fought the good fight, not just for himself, but for everyone who had a disability. For this, he shall forever be Superman in the eyes and hearts of the world.
Goodbye, Kal-El.
I think it would be appropriate if us fans wore either avatars of Superman's cape or something like that, to honor him.

I had hoped that this had been just another internet rumour, but the host for C-SPAN's Washington Journal mentioned it in the morning's headlines and that was my first confirmation that the story was true.
I'd really been looking forward to his taking those first steps out of that damn chair.
