Lord of the Gun

Post by NeoGoomba »

Out of all these proficient firearm wielding badasses, who among them is supreme with the firearm. No other quality they possess is taken into account, other than both their skill with the gun, and style with the gun.

The contestants are:

Dante (Devil May Cry)
Blade (Blade)
Grammaton Cleric John Preston (Equilibrium)
The Man With No Name (MWNN Trilogy)
John Rambo (Rambo Series)
Neo (The Matrix)
The Desperado (Desperado/Once Upon a Time in Mexico)
The Punisher (Garth Ennis Punisher)
El Dulche (The Boondock Saints)
The Gunslinger (Dark Tower series)

Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know...tomorrow."

I point out that if we're discounting Neo's other qualities, he's a computer hacker with no special distinction or even proficiency in firearms that we know of.
It's Rogue, not Rouge!

Given how astoundingly bad his accuracy is in the Lobby Scene (frequently missing people 30 ft away) I don't even think he should be in the pole. If you want my vote for best gunslinger, though, I think it would be the Manga versiou of Major Kusanagi. 'Cause cybernetic muscles don't twitch, and them cyberbrains really help with 'dem balistic calculations.

In a fight, with all things being equal, I'd give it to Preston. He barely missed at all through the whole flick.

It's IL DUCE!!!!

Gah, people, learn to spell!

And I have to say the Lord of the Gun is either Preston or or Il Duce.

Between the two I have to say it's Gramaton Cleric John Preston. Any one that can leap into a room with 20 or so automatic armed nutcases, avoid even a scratch, and dispatch them with ease is a fucking bad ass to behold.

Though divine protection is damn good too. And Il Duce is never ever touched in a fight.

What about Vash the Stampede (from the anime Trigun). He is better than most on this list. If not the best. Hes got my vote

Well, technically he did get shot, or at least grazed.

Second, for all the lead he was sending out he only hit the Saints and Rocco once each.

I'd say the Saints are better than him. Though, you could chalk up the fight to divine protection cancelling out.

I don't think he was actually hit. He simply fled when he had exhausted his shots and they were still resisting.

I think that's really the case.

I would vote for the Gunslinger, but that option isn't there.

Didn't he get grazed in the arm and drop a gun? Ah well, it's been awhile since I've seen it.

The Saint of Killers of course :D

Dante's got some pretty impressive stuff going for him as per the latest DMC3 trailer.. but then he's also got that whole nigh-invulnerable thing going on.

Hate to me-too, but IIRC Vash the Stampede (of Trigun) would clearly be head-and-shoulders over most of the other guys in the poll. And then there's Alucard (of Hellsing).

Preston. as said who else can jump, fully silliouted, into a room of automatic gun weilding sense offenders and live?

seriously though i can only remember two instances where Preston missed
1) in the shotgun fight he has to fire twice with a pistol to take out the head sweeper.

2) In the final pistol whip scene he missed reapeatly but that wasn't really him missing more as his gun being shoved out of line...

and only one instance of him being hit, again the final gun trapper fight he sustain a graze to his neck off-screen...

DEFINITELY a gunslinger!

HOW COULD YOU FORGET ROLAND????

If not any gunslinger, then definitely Roland of Gilead is the best there is with a gun. There's a reason why gunslingers are feared by evil in all the universes.

Watching a decent amount of anime shows otherwise. The fact that your exposure to anime may have always involved uber characters does not make all anime like that.

I'd be tempted to put Vash slightly higher, but it's preston all the way.

Roland Deschain, the Gunslinger.

When you spend your entire life in a world where you are trained from birth to be gunslingers, where they are knights and nobles, you have to be good.
