Cheney hypocrisy NEVER ends. The man is a robot.
Dick Cheney had his usual unbridled hypocrisy running at full yesterday. In fact, he even brought in his wife to add to the event. He said:
"You saw a man who will do and say anything to get elected, and I am not just speaking as a father here, although I am a pretty angry father," Cheney said at a rally in Fort Myers, Fla.
You mean, Dick, like saying, "and the first time I ever met you was when you walked out on stage here tonight."
You mean, Dick, like saying, "we've lowered healthcare costs for everyone."
You mean, Dick, like saying, "I'm at the Senate most every Tuesday" and then we find out that you only go to meet Republicans there and have only presided over the Senate, that you're the President of, twice in 4 years (as many times as John Edwards has presided over it in your absense) while at the same time criticizing Edwards attendance?
You mean, Dick, like saying there are ties between Saddam and 9/11?
You mean, Dick, like saying there were weapons of mass destruction?
You mean, Dick, like attacking Kerry for using the word "sensitivity" to describe one of MANY element that need to be brought to the table to deal with our current foreign affairs at the same time your running mate is using the same exact word to explain what needs to be added to the mix in this issue?
So, Dick, is those the kinds of things you mean when you suggest someone will say anything to get elected? You certainly do have a lot of experience with that sort of thing. However, the facts speak for themselves. It's clear you have no sensitivity so now when you cry wolf over comments about your daughter, we're not going to come running. Or were you lying? How are we to tell the difference, DICK?

I forgot to mention the juicy lies about the administration having inherited a recession when growth didn't top until March of 2001.
Then there's all these comments about how rosy the economy is but then we see this:
•The Dow Jones industrials sank 107.88 points to 9,894.45, falling below 10,000 for the sixth time this year. Closing below 10,000 is considered a confidence deflator, since it's seen as a psychological support level
Sixth time this year. Sounds like a pretty reliable flat line to me.
•The Standard & Poor's 500 index sagged 10.36 points to 1103.29. While the decline was less than 1%, it was still significant, as it dragged the index into the red for the year. The S&P had been a beacon of hope for investors: It had been the only major index to be up for the year.
Plus they told us they'd create 5 MILLION jobs with their tax cuts and created nowhere near that.

Here's another one DICK:
Cheney said, "John Kerry is, by National Journal ratings, the most liberal member of the United States Senate. Ted Kennedy is the more conservative of the two senators from Massachusetts.
It's true. All you got to do is go look at the ratings systems. And that captures a lot, I think, in terms of somebody's philosophy. And it's not based on one vote, or one year, it's based on 20 years of service in the United States Senate. Perfectly legitimate view of the world, if that's the way he wants to view it. It's just that if I were to lay down my voting record, the ten years I was in the House, versus his, there’s not a lot of overlap."
The fact of the matter is that the National Journal ratings are indeed based on a single year. Since Kerry was campaigning during much of 2003, he was only able to show up for the most critical votes which tended to be liberal issues and the rating was based only on 19 votes when Senators usually vote hundreds of times a session.
This guy just doesn't know how to stop lying. I really think we should get this guy some therapy.

Re: Cheney hypocrisy NEVER ends. The man is a robot.
Mr. Cheney is busy with more important matters than presiding over the Senate. Dick Cheney is the most powerful Vice President in United States history, and many would call him the de facto president. I'm actually glad that Cheney spends so little time in the Senate, because it means more time spent keeping shit together in the Executive branch.Agrajag wrote:You mean, Dick, like saying, "I'm at the Senate most every Tuesday" and then we find out that you only go to meet Republicans there and have only presided over the Senate, that you're the President of, twice in 4 years (as many times as John Edwards has presided over it in your absense) while at the same time criticizing Edwards attendance?

I have NO problem with Dick Cheney spending time away from the Senate. I DO have a MAJOR problem when this man then attempts to denegrate someone else's record by stating things about his own record that is patently false and clearly misleading.
You may just sweep these sorts of things under the rug, but that's your failing and one I, and many others, do not share.
So you tell me. What's worse, someone who alledgedly changes their mind a position or someone else who just patently lies about issues? I also find it ironic that this very same group has the audacity to call Kerry a flip-flopper a) as if there's something wrong with changing your mind while b) Bush is a bigger flip-flopper in more obvious and damaging ways than anything Kerry is accused of.
Continue to stick your head in the sand. I choose to see the failings of this administration.

Yes. Perhaps you meant your comment in some other way, but I can only go on the words as you presented them. Your comment excused Cheney's actions, "busy with more important matters".Are you talking to me?
I also am not of the opinion that things are together in any way in the Executive Branch. Things are a MESS there and I'm tired of seeing a puppet put in front of the people as this regime's leader. Cheney is untrustworthy, scheming, underhanded and bad for this country. If he is running the country then it's yet another lie put forth to the people. Plus he's doing a lousy job and needs to go.
He was one of the prime people out there saying these tax cuts would generate 5.5 million jobs. WHERE ARE THEY? Everything this administration says is a LIE. No Child Left Behind is despised by a vast majority of teachers. The litmus test school system that Bush used to claim success (Houston schools) is under investigation for MASSIVE fraud where they did everything possible to remove students from the school who would test poorly or, in some cases, promoted children 2 grades to skip the key test grades. Plus it's heavily underfunded.
We're given the rosy story about all the wonderful ways we're going to help rebuild Afghanistan but then 9/10ths of the money promised VANISHES and the Taliban and warlords are back and in control of most of the country. We're told Medicare is a win and yet it's in the worst shape of its history. Seniors haven't saved anything as none of what Bush has done kicks in until 2006 and that's when the real costs skyrocket (and the head of Medicare was threatened by the administration not to reveal the true costs). We're told the lower and middle classes got most of the tax cut but no matter how you try and spin the numbers they still can't support that claim.
Cheney has the gaul to suggest that if we elect Kerry, that choice will result in our being hit again. What a load of garbage. We ARE going to get hit again. It's a given. It's just a matter of time. It's one lie after another.
This goes on and on and on with this group. If Cheney is responsible, he's lucky we don't march down there and lynch him. He's the closest thing I see to a terrorist in our midst. Our children are being robbed blind and our kids are sent to their deaths over oil while his friends get rich on fat-cat special interest deals. And meanwhile we impeach Clinton over oral sex??? Give me a break.

I guess you're unfamiliar with the concept of irony. If you understood irony, you would have noticed that I was making a backhanded slam against the president. See, Dick Cheney is neglecting his duties as Vice President because Bush is a jackass. Haha.Agrajag wrote:Yes. Subtle barbs are apparently wasted. I usually hope that my fellow liberals can follow simple humor like that. But I guess you're in too deep a leftist rage to wipe the foam from your lips and read between the lines. Some people take the step of throwing up smilies liberally and tossing around "j/k"s and such, but I'm not going to take special action to accomodate the humorless and clueless (read: you).

Give it a break. I guess you're unfamiliar with the concept of an emoticon even though they're sitting right to the left of every reply input box. There are quite a number of people who seriously believe Cheney is already the real power behind the administration so your choice to post such a comment in such a generically bland way was your mistake. It was not my mistake to lack psychic ability.Pablo Sanchez wrote: I guess you're unfamiliar with the concept of irony.
So you'll just be a complete ass on principle. No big surprise there. Must be nice to be so superior to everyone that you feel common courtesy and etiquette doesn't apply to you. Some people take the step of throwing up smilies liberally and tossing around "j/k"s and such, but I'm not going to take special action to accomodate the humorless and clueless (read: you).

BTW, just another little lie that cropped up from both Cheney and Bush:
"75 percent of Al Qaeda leadership had been captured or killed."
Okay, so then just a few days ago, Condi Rice said the same thing and was interrupted by Wolf Blitzer who asked her directly just how many leaders Al Qaeda has.
Her response was to initially try and skip the question but then said, "It's been 10's and hundreds".
Hmm, forgive me but my basic mathematics tells me that if you're not sure if the number of leaders is measured in the 10's (let's be nice and say 50) and hundreds (let's be nice and say 500) then how can you say you've eliminated 75% of them???????????
How many have you eliminated? Is it 8 or is it 375? Yet, we all just keep hearing this wonderous number that sounds so credible.
