If anyone ever watched DS9, then you would know that,

1. Odo was infected with a disease by Section 31 to kill all the Founders.
2. The Doctor Bashir came up with a cure and gave it to Odo, then he saved the Lead founder in exchange for the Dominions surrender, she agreed.
3. Captain Sisco joined with the Prophets and reopened the Wormhole.
4. Odo returned to the Gamma Quadrent and cured the rest of the Founders.

Now that he saved them and the Federation is not going to punish them, there is no reason for them not to become an ally.

Ah yes.. The pathetic cop-out at the end of DS9. I had forgotten how stupid that was.

The Dominion's ships are weaker than Federation ones. Federation ones cannot stop GT-level weaponry. So, the Dominion is just another speedbump.

Correction: see what plasma weapons do to TREK SHIPS. ISDs have shielding that is ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE STRONGER THAN TREK SHIPS. Furthermore, Trek shields almost certainly have some kind of WEAKNESS to plasma based weapons. ISDs do not have any such weakness and can only be brought down through brute force.

Used right means used with enough power and Trek ships have NEVER demonstrated having anywhere near the power needed to take down Imperial shields.
