Seriously, I wonder if most of the asexuality is caused by some sort of fundamental psychological trauma connected in some way to sexuality. Supposedly, one of the ways sexually-abused children cope is to become asexual.

Of course, I've known a couple of fundie women who've been taught that sex was evil since birth and have never had any kind of sexual arousal in their lives. Tragic, really.

Oh that isnt the half of it, SHark Bait once tried to reproduce through binary fission (He sprawled out on his bed, stretching n two directions for some time, screaming "DIVIDE DIVIDE!!")

We have known he is asexual for a while, and figured out how he would reproduce(just based on his personality)

We imagine if he could reproduce asexually, it would be through puking up "Russell Larva" that are basically a horribly carnivorous cuttlefish/lobster...thing with a Russell head

For those who are wondering what the hell this is like, this worked for my room mate and may work for some of you. Think back as far as you can to long before puberty or anything of the sort back to the days of cooties, and when the opposite sex was considered ookey. Its kinda like that you just dont care about sex its not really something that enters your mind most of the time or atleast not untill some fleshy brings it up. Its almost like I just dident ever grow up in terms of desires to mate or whatever, and as a result I have more friends who are female than most of the guys I know which many of them wonder about. I was never told that sex was evil or anything like that, no more trauma than you would find in a teen movie (specificly the new guy) but even that came much later. So as a whole the idea of sex is nothing more than a chore except for when I over think it then it becomes disgusting, but thats a side issue.

I can't picture back to any point like that. As far as I can tell, I've been into girls for as long as I've known they've existed. I just took time to learn all the things I could do with them (and get to the point where I could do them, which corresponded fairly well iirc).

Really? I think Shark Bait described it faily well; for me it's just like I never grew out of childhood's sexual innocence. I find it hard to picture a four year old waiting for his body to catch up so he can "do" girls, but then I find it hard to picture myself doing that now, at 18, so...yeah, all I can say is

Well, not quite that, but I had an inkling that they'd make life a lot less dull, I just didn't have all the facts or basic instincts about what I exactly wanted to do with them. I was pretty much down with the notion of spoonning at 10-12, for example. The notion that someone simply *doesn't* want to be close to or get physical with other people in some way or another is pretty much alien to me.

Okay, no offense, but everyone here who claims to be asexual comes off sounding EXACTLY like all the annoying self-obsessed people I know who can't chill out long enough to have a good time. I'm not saying thats you, but I have a few people in mind who would say EXACTLY what you're saying, just because they're too sad-assed to handle society, so they give up and invent after-the-fact rationialisations to feel better about themselves. Of *course* they try to defend your attitude, since its a safety blanket, but people have convinced themselves of less. How do you know thats not you?

I have known SHark Bait since we were in the 7th grade, and we have been friends for just as long, I have seen him grow up, it isnt an after-the-fact realization. He does not become sexually attracted to people. EMotionally bonded, yes. But never in the sexual sense.

To tell the truth i'm in a relationship now with someone who has been a friend for 7 long years. Our emotional connection is unlike any that i have ever seen, through those seven years we grew as friends and supported eachother when no one else could all through online interaction or snail mail. Yet through it all I still feel no physical lust the way my peers do, and I feel that it is an incredibly fulfilling relationship and we are both very very happy.
