Why would a Wookiee wear clothes? Regardless of whether they're a Jedi or not? If you were a walking carpet why do you want another layer on top?

[EDIT] Have there actually been Wookiee Jedi before? I can't seem to recall one, but if there is one perhaps it has already been addressed.

And did he go around wearing the latest designer labels from Chandrila, or was he content to let the hair flow naturally and freely?

IIRC it was Chewies nephew and in the NJO he flew an XJ-Wing regularily so i'd assume he wore a large flightsuit on those occasions.

Ceremonial reasons. Because it's what the jedi wear.

It could be just the robe with the hood... and nothing else under it. Remember, human Jedi (and most other species) wear the robe, then a load of other clothes under that. (EG Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan facing Maul. All three combatants discared their robes, but they all were wearing clothes underneath.)

Obviously, wookies don't need clothes, but the thought occured to me, maybe they'd wear the outer Jedi hooded robe. I dunno.

I know there's a bunch of wookies in ROTS.. I wonder if any of those will be Jedi? That would answer the question fully.

I think he was in the buff like all the other wookies, iirc. Haven't touched that book in years so I could be wrong.

The only thing Lowbacca wore was a belt so he could carry his translator droid and lightsaber. Other than that, he didn't wear anything else.

Lowbacca, Chewie's nephew, is a Jedi. He was in the New Jedi Order books, and Young Jedi Knights.

Wasn't there a Wookiee on the Jedi Council in EPI or II?

At any rate, there's Plo Koon's Master, Tyvokka, from the "Stark Hyperspace War" comics. He wears the full Jedi uniform. Also, in the SW Holiday Special, Mallatobuck was wearing some kind of dress or robe.

Yes, well the Holiday Special apparently sucked. :P I seem to remember something about Lucas saying that if he could get his hands on and destroy every copy, he'd do it in a heartbeat...
It's Rogue, not Rouge!

I don't remember Lowie flying a fighter. Then again, he's not a Solo so I never did try to memorize his exploits. I know he's flown copilot with Jaina on some of the larger caft, at least, once.

That was a stolen Vong frigate. And a Hapan shuttle.

Lowbacca flies a blasboat in Star bt Star as well as flying a X-wing with Jaina in Twin Suns Squadron in the later novels IIRC. No mention of him wearing any sort of flight gear though

Padawan Wooks have to wear the little tassel in their fur.

Master Jedi Wooks are shaved from head to toe... or maybe that's just the hazing ritual.

I like to think that they weave their fur into a thing over their head that looks like a Jedi Robe hood, but it's really just more fur! ; )

Lowie did the blastboat thing, but by the Force Heretics and TFP he's a member of Twin Suns flying a XJ. By the battle of Mon Calamari, he and the other Jedi flying with Jaina got split up and made squadron leaders on their own.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Oh yeah... in the SWHS the wife was Malla, the kid was Lumpy and the dad was Itchy. EU writers took a look at the names and said, "Hell, we can't have Wookiees named Lumpy or Itchy now can we?" So in the BFC (IIRC) Chewie's family members were given names which the writers thought were more befitting of Wookiees like Mallatobuck, Lumpawarump and Attichitcuk.

A good point! In the SWHS Wookiees wear outer clothing for certain occasions (they wear red robes for the "Lifeday" celebration at the end too).

PS: In the Wookiee Storybook they give both names for each family member. The long form and the short form as the nickname. Just like "Chewbacca" is "Chewie" to us.
