Wouldn't it be cool if...
... Chewbacca was the runt of the Wookiees, just as Wicket was among the Ewoks. You know, all the other adult Wookiees are bigger than he is. Just thinking...

First, MINOR SPOILER
The Wookies in ROTS, from the leaked pictures anyway, are immensely larger than Chewbacca--the costume includes a very developed muscle suit under the fur, and they come off looking very thickly built and powerful. Chewie is just tall. Very tall yes, but not especially muscular. So take that how you will.

"Do not worry, I have prepared something for just such an emergency."
"You're prepared for a giant monster made entirely of nulls stomping around Mainframe?!"
"That is correct!"
"How do you plan for that?"
"Uh... lucky guess?"

The wookies shown may be part of a military unit and as such are more bulked up and stronger than your average wookie. Either that or wookies that live primarily on their homeworld are just more physically active (swinging from trees, climbing, or whatever they do) and thus compared to chewie who is mostly tagging along with Han through space all the time, wouldnt get nearly as much muscle workout as his bretheren back home. Chewie is obviously still strong, just not as much as he could be.

That's what Elfdart just said in his last sentence, Silence; you just cited the source that he learned it from.
Anyway, either he's just naturally scrawny or he's out of shape, or both.
And to paraphrase Cookie Monster:
"W is for Wookiee, that's good enough for me,
but,
Wookiee, Wookiee, Wookiee, ends in TWO 'E's!

If you go by the RPG (WOTC) then Chewie is technically a scout, not a soldier, so it makes sense that he'd be lean and not so much scrawny or out of shape.Utsanomiko wrote:That's what Elfdart just said in his last sentence, Silence; you just cited the source that he learned it from.

1) Game mechanics. Into the dumpster they go. *Wheeeee!*Stofsk wrote:If you go by the RPG (WOTC) then Chewie is technically a scout, not a soldier, so it makes sense that he'd be lean and not so much scrawny or out of shape.Utsanomiko wrote:That's what Elfdart just said in his last sentence, Silence; you just cited the source that he learned it from.

2) And WEG didn't give him a class (but they were above such silly notions). He instead has a Strength of 5D, which is above average (out of 3D-6D) for his species I'd say.
3) I should probably smack Stofsk for referring to D20 in front of me. What do you, the readers at home, think?

Nay. D20 forever!
It's Rogue, not Rouge!

Dammit, I just know this is going to get dragged off into a split topic beyond my control...Stofsk wrote:What's your beef with D20? It's AOL for Pen and Paper, essentaily. Hitpoints, wonky armor system, 'classes', bad/limited skill system, poor modability. I don't play it unless a computer's doing the math and simplifying the rules into a typical hack & slash adventure game.
I'm leaving it at that untill I start my SW RPG adventure I've working on with D6 (which dammit I need to start recruiting. I've only got to write another paragraph on the startingp lanet and list some local items).

Maybe in ROTS we'll see the "Cookie Monster aliens" in a senate pod. Wouldn't that be cool?Utsanomiko wrote:What, Cookie Monster actually sang about the commin spelling error for 'Wookiee'?Old Plympto wrote:OMG! I just saw that this morning on TV.Utsanomiko wrote:And to paraphrase Cookie Monster:
