One more step toward the seperation of Quebec, the dissolution of Canada, and the annexation of the English-speaking provinces into the Great American Empire.

Montreal, Quebec City are major cities in Quebec. Also quite a bit of Canada's industrial capacity is in Quebec. I would dare say that Canada is absolutely dependant on both Ontario and Quebec. Also, if Quebec were to secede the Maritime Provinces would be completely cut off from the rest of Canada. Admission to the Union would likely result with the Maritimes being to weak to stand on their own economicaly.Shinova wrote:Lessee, if Quebec secedes, the rest of Canada won't miss too much, will they?
All their important cities are like in Ontario or something, right?

The problem is the Quebec people, who obviously think that this whining, mewling, crybaby spoiled-brat temper-tantrum behaviour of theirs is the appropriate way to interact with the rest of the country or they wouldn't vote in these BQ shitheads in every federal election.

How would Quebec separation go down, anyway? Would Quebec just say fuck y'all and run off, assuming none of the national debt?

If you added Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and Saskatchewan to the U.S. right now, Kerry would be greatly leading in the polls, and the Democrats would be on their way to having a great majority in Congress.
Don't forget Nunavut! How many electorial votes would each province have, are the electorial votes based on population?Bertie Wooster wrote:

You can count Alberta (aka Texas North) out of that list: They'd probably vote Republican. BC and maybe Saskatchewan would probably vote for Nader...Bertie Wooster wrote:If you added Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and Saskatchewan to the U.S. right now, Kerry would be greatly leading in the polls, and the Democrats would be on their way to having a great majority in Congress.

Well, AFAIK electoral votes are based on House and Senate seats, and the former are in turn based on population, for a minimum of three per state (1 rep + 2 senate).brianeyci wrote:Don't forget Nunavut! It works out to about 2 electoral votes per million, so Canada (minus Quebec) would get something like 45-50 electoral votes total, depending on how many states it was formed into.
To step in and provide some manner of comic relief, a silver lining in this dark cloud if you will (and hopefully not offend the Canadian S.D.Neters):
...and...But for me you know, Quebec keeps wanting to break away from Canada, but still keep their currency. What about that? It's like a kid a moving out the house, but ah, I would still like to get money. F*** off, you!

It's highly unlikely Nunavut would be granted statehood...It would simply be a territory. I dont think its big enough (population wise) to be a statebrianeyci wrote:Don't forget Nunavut! A minimum of three, but after the first two you get one for every 650,000 people you have. Maritimes would probably be "bundled" for their low population and to minimize their influence.brianeyci wrote:Don't forget Nunavut! And yes, it would be a good map. Maybe once we get past "magic 50" we'll finally let Puerto Rico, Guam, and American Samoa in.

As far as I can tell, the Quebecois basically have all of the negative aspects of the French, minus the humbling historical experiences of the world wars, plus a lot of things that are bad about Americans. Would I be wrong in generalizing them as the worst product of the era of colonialism?
