I see signs going on about Halo 2 being the "most anticipated sequel of the year". Yeah, as if HL2 suddenly didn't exist.

Sorry, but Halo simply didn't wow me. Half-Life is always worth another play.

What drew me into Halo was that it's a simple multiplayer game. 4 player with it is better than Perfect Dark and Goldeneye ever were.

Plus the vehicles are a great deal of fun, the only thing better than running people down with the Puma is blowing it up with a rocket launcher.

Amazingly the reason I see that is because like everything there are sects of people who do really like that.

For me...HL2 is being far too much of cocktease to continue to be excited beyond "COME THE FUCK OUT ALREADY!!"

I loved HL1, will get HL2...but jimmney christmas.

Valve does indeed license a physics engine. That was one of the sticking points when the source code leak happened awhile back since they were worried that other companies' IP was getting leaked.

The thing about Halo 2 and Half-Life 2 is that one is a console shooter, one is a PC shooter. Therefore, no competition. :P

Puma my ass, you demean the Chupacabre!

Halo PC's still good fun, despite the presence of various better shooters. Plus, the skill difference between Custom Edition and normal HPC is always amusing to see in action.

It's actually the same engine Doom 3 and Deus Ex 2 use, the HAVOK physics engine.

It's teh Walrus!

Anyway, theres something about multi-player. creech, me, and a bunch of people we know, all playing 16 player prisoner with rockets.....ah the fun. Plus, there's the whole shit-talking fun. And when the round is over, you can walk to the next room and rub it in. And you have to love the slaping. You can get reeeeealy good at slaping. My friend taka is a master at it. He has the ability to totaly sneak up on you. No matter what.

My only nit-pick is that there are only two levels with the vehicles in them. And when you play with people who love bloodgultch, it gets old.

Doom 3 doesn't use Havok.

I've never pulled it off, but I've seen it done. Through clever application of grenades, in Assault on the Control Room it's possible to blast the tank through those vertical pipes that are intended to force you to leave it behind. Let's just say that having a tank on an open field surrounded by Elites with Ghost landspeeders just lets you pwn like there's no tomorrow. :D
That would take quite a bit of effort. I've found its better to settle with the Warthog. You can easily get through the vertical pipes with it and having a sniper on it you can cut through the enemy like a hot knife through butter. Even better, the Hog can be taken inside a little ways with some creativity. Its real interesting taking that thing through the hallways and the likes.

I've also managed to get a Hog into the center of the island on Silent Cartographer. Hunters are real easy to kill that way.

I was rather irritated that the number of extremly convient obstacles that stoped your vehicle progress. That was just a little too blantantly obvious in the attempt to force you back on foot.

Funny you say that. Because I always likened Halo to a cross between Quake III (Dreamcast) and Perfect Dark (N64). Where it's deathmatch tourney style, but not as fast as Quake. Also it has semi realistic acting weapons like Perfect Dark just not as customizable.

Personally, Halo is not the end all be all of FPS, much less gaming in general. It's just that it's an unopposed alternative to what you have on anything else. I feel like I'm in molasses when I'm running or jumping, but I don't have the gagdetry to compensate. Halo 2's multiplayer is much the same way. (Got to play a demo setup that holds nothing back). The only difference is you can weild two weapons. However it dicked up my control style because I can't put the jump on the trigger.

Not to back pedal, but it is a good game. Not blow my mind type of gaming. It just stands out on the XBox because there's not really much in the way of exclusives to water down the choices. The system has 'interesting' games, and innovation on it's side, I just haven't run into anything yet that just screams 'classic of the generation' type titles.

It's a good game, it seems a little fresh with it's combination of shields and weapons system, but quite frankly when you have several consoles, a pc and tons of games it doesn't stand out very well.

Yeah, plug the pilot with a sniper rifle before he gets in.

Extremely difficult to do. I've managed to strike the first Banshee before the pilot gets in and tried knocking it down, but never could strike it just right to do that.

To me, one of Halo's strongest points was the rich backstory, despite the fact it's just mostly a mindless shooter. And since I (like most everyone else here) am a scifi fan I really enjoy it a lot. I'm looking forward to the new one mostly so I can see how the story unfolds.

lol you guys are trying to snip him lol
Well you don't since there is easier way. Ok when you come out of the pipes area right before you go up to the ground with all the grunts at. Once you walk out of it take a right and stay on the perimeter into you can get on higher ground. Take you Sniper out and spot the banshee once you spotted it take out your rocker launcher and fire a shot at it. Now go back to your sniper and watch the rocket hit the banshee. After it hits it make sure its turn uppside down or not like it would be. The AI of the Elites don't let them turn over or get into the banshee lol. Now you try it. Halo is a fun game to try to do stuff in.

Wall slide at the first bridge to the bottom, you then take the WartHog that the Pelican dropped off and just drive to the last part where you can have marines with you and then there is a banshee there.

You have to wall slide otherwise you trigger the rest of the enemies for that level
