Maybe the Calamari have air bladders for some use and the female's are more pronounced, or that female is using her's at the time of the picture?
I'd say that's a definate possiblity, if her nipples were not evident in the pic.

SOD answer would be that, since human have only two breasts there's no reason for more (since that probaly ain't what natural Mon Calmari females look like).
Not quite sure I follow. Or why two breasts? Why not one? ; )

Then I'll explain, I think (and some others too) those "breast" are implants to make the Mon Calmari loook more Human (that's why there's also two breast and not Zero which is probaly the correct amount for natural a Mon Calmari).
I may be an idiot, but I'm a tolerated idiot

No I mean warm. He said why we couldn't see nippies.

The Mon Calamari aren't fish. If we were going by straight earth-based influence, then they would be humanoid squids. Squids don't have breasts, but then they don't have anything else recognizably human. Just take the "head" of the squid and slap it on a human body with some weird hands and skin for the costume.

Actually, I'd say that the Mon Calamari seem to more correspond to some kind of fish/amphibian humanoid. They don't resemble squids or other molusks at all: that's the Quaren.

I believe in a sign of Zeta.

Chop off the head of Admiral Ackbar, and sew his mouth shut. Now add some tentacles and a beak. Presto, squid man!

Even the name suggests squid. The Quaren are just another variation on a theme. ; )
