You know, castration (even the Chinese kind with the removal of both the testicles and the penis) might not prevent him from reoffending, but can anyone think of an objection as to why it should not be performed in this case--particularly the Chinese kind? Anyone?

I have an objection: it's too messy.
Also too slow.
But I do like the Chinese method that uses a sledge hammer...We just need to make it last longer. Like maybe a ball-peen hammer? And have one of those "test your strength" bells that goes DING! when someone gets a good hit.
As for the mess...Why not cover the audience with clear plastic ponchos like at a Gallagher performance?

You know we disagree on this issue, in that I think even evil bastard peadophiles are human with basic human rights. The Duchess of Zeon wrote:You know, castration (even the Chinese kind with the removal of both the testicles and the penis) might not prevent him from reoffending, but can anyone think of an objection as to why it should not be performed in this case--particularly the Chinese kind? But 10 years is just wrong. He's attempted two rapes and he'll be out by the time he's 30? Not good enough.

Well, of course. Ideally he would now get life without the possibility of parole.InnerBrat wrote:You know we disagree on this issue, in that I think even evil bastard peadophiles are human with basic human rights.

As for the other issue--I don't think that after a fair trial it can be argued that one has a human right to retain their sexual organs if the law mandates their removal for certain obscene crimes. A two-time convicted rapist making a third attempt would definitely fall under a category in which the surgical removal of the sexual organs, provided that is a mandated punishment following trial and conviction, is neither unfair nor prejudicial to his rights. One can have a far more normal life than he really deserves without them, after all.

OK, but it's not a mandated punishment and I wouldn't supports it's mandate. The Duchess of Zeon wrote: As for the other issue--I don't think that after a fair trial it can be argued that one has a human right to retain their sexual organs if the law mandates their removal for certain obscene crimes. In this case, it's attempted in both cases. Fortunate for the victims, obviously, less fortunate in that attempted crimes carry lesser sentences.

The problem is that the attempts demonstrate pretty obvious intent. It may be wrong to punish someone for what they think, but when they demonstrate intent with their actions, it should be dealt with.InnerBrat wrote:

Silly people. Better not to become the monster, or society will be doomed. Cut off testicles? Ugh.
Just lock him up for a very, very long time, and when time comes for parole, put a tracking device on him that shows where he is all the time -- perpetual house arrest.
I know, doesn't work in real life. But it doesn't mean that eventually it can't work -- I can't understand for the life of me why they don't force implant some sort of GPS chip into dangerous criminals, so they know where they are at all times. Cost and technology to overcome, but that should be the direction our society takes -- not an eye-for-an-eye or in some people's cases an arm-for-an-eye mentality.

Because it's a good idea to have a worse penalty for rape, which leaves a witness in the form of a victim behind then it is for murder which is easier to cover up, because...?Alex Moon wrote:Just douse the fucker in gasoline and watch him die screaming.
Rapists don't deserve to be treated as human.
Please think things through.

Re: Weeks out of prison, attempts to rape 2yr old
Apparently he learned his lesson. Raping old people is bad.
Now he's going to go back to prison to learn that raping the exceedingly young is bad.
Then once more for middle-aged people.
Who says our corrective system doesn't work?

This is why we need to reinstitute gladatorial combat. The prison system would pay for itself, and the violent crimnals will not only suffer horibly, but will contribute to spociety through entertaining the populace.

How would he be function to society? He would just be a drain wouldn't he?Wouldn't there be some extra cost involved in keeping someone with either no arms or (perhaps) no legs? I wouldn't even want to let him go. He should get life in prison, but optimally, he should do something good for society when released. Not an eye for an eye or an arm for an eye. If we cut of his arms, or his testicles, he would not be able to rape again. We can then release him, and not spend money on tracking him down for the rest of his life.
If released, it shouldn't be alive. Kill him the cheapest way possible and then donate his body to science or harvest his organs for those who need them.
Would that be better than just torturing him, releasing him. But then again, for that to work, the appeals system would have to change.
Actually, I think anyone who gets life in prison or death penality should, when killed be of some use.
