Idea for a Star Wars videogame ...
Sith Apprentice.
Set a few generations before Phantom Menace, you perform various missions to further the Sith agenda. You can incorporate elements from Splinter Cell, Hitman, Star Fighter games ...
Thoughts?

It'd be easier to tell what we think if you did more than just come up with a general game idea and name off a few games you want it to emulate.

You live the life of a SW galaxy family, get a job, make money, buy food get married and have kids....wait thats the sims but in this version you'll get SW things and have Droids instead of that weird cleaning robot
and it will be in the original Sims graphics, not that horrible Sims2 shit

Alright, let's try this.
Say you start off as a young kid (boy/girl) with latent Force potential But when your family tries to send you to the Jedi Academy your refused as not being 'special' enough, which totally ruins your family since they staked everything on you being accepted.
So this starts things off on a bad note for you. That's where the Sith come in. The Dark Lord of the Sith watches you giving you challenges and directing your path along the Dark Side of the Force.
So your game is basically sneaking around learning tricks and weapons. You'll slowly progress into vehicle usage and then starship piloting. Once you learn the basic skills you start hitting the real part of the game. Where as you'll be ground based, or take over vehicles to use in chase sequences or jump into a startship and go from ground to space.
Herein you would cover the basics to Star Wars. There would be all elements, and you go along learning force powers and dark side tactics. Eventually leading you into heading up an army division of some sort then facing off against Jedi 'boss' characters.

Now that I think about it, why don't we do the impossible. Let's start putting together the ultimate Star Wars game. Something akin to RPGs and the like 70+ heavy weight. Not an RPG though, maybe some elements taken from the genre but not full blown like KotR or Galaxies.
We've got the story basis. Character will go down the Dark Side.
There will be running, gunning and jumping at intervals. Vehicles. speeder bikes, tanks, walkers. Also starships, starfighters, possibly some form of capital ship combat. Make it expansive, different levels that test your skills and help you train in the ways of the Dark Side. Muwhahahaha!!!

No, all wrong. We want it to be unique. They'll jump into the leg joints and gum them up, slowing them down FOR the snow speeders to rush in and trip them with tow cables.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:And have them run around the walkers and trip them up with cables! Again!!

I would hope that many a 'qualified' fan would aide me in that. Not the tripe shit they call Galaxies (which I can't believe I ever pimped) or Clone Wars.
I mean come on, it shouldn't be that hard. We finally got some good ones out there. Jedi Power Battles (DC), Jedi Knight Outcast (PC), Rogue Squadron (N64,GC) and X-Wing Alliance.
These games I feel captured in thier own sense or thier own genre the feel of Star Wars. Combining these would be awesome. However, I think it's something were you can't just combine, then you have a giant demo. More like a game that evolves and involves the player.
We would forever argue over the shit that would go into this game, but I garuntee that if we kept at each other long after the game was released, we'd probably have produced the best damn one.

If it's made as some sort of adventure game (or essentially action with role-playing elements integrated into the non-combat actions), and it uses a variation of D6 for the general engine design, I'd certainly pitch in with writing up design docs.

I would like to see a good Star Wars version of Freelancer. Begin as a low end mercenary with a Z-95 starfighter. Slowly advance to bigger and more powerful ship and build up a personal fleet. Player reputation changes dramaticaly as the fail and win missions and make new allies.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.
I want a good damn RTS or TBS game with SW. I wanna choose between being the Bothans or the Calamari, or the Empire or whatever and get alliances and build ships and beating the ship out of my opponents.
I want a good flight sim based off of NJO. Not Rogue Squadron shit, Xwing shit.

They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Jedi Power Battles... good??
That game was crap! (even the DC version with its improvments over the unplayable mess of the PSX version... sucked)
It had more things wrong with it than going for it... and all it was trying to be was a 3-D version of Super Star Wars (or else "Final Fight" with Star Wars graphics... take your pick).

Super Star Wars!!
Damn, they should rerelease those three games for Gameboy Advance, especially since (IIRC) Super Return of the Jedi was somewhat rarer than the first two.

Those damn Super Star Wars games always pissed me off. Jedi Power Battles was the arcade side scroller of the next gen. Much like TMNT and Xmen games were. The PSX version was quite possibly the 2nd worst game ever, only second to ET. The DC version kicked ass. They tightened up the controls, and that should have been enough for the pit troubles, but then they added bridges over the tougher ones. The block system was phenominal. You hit block at the right time and the laser blasts go back at your opponent and you can't hold block for too long. Plus the button combo systems. When you were done, you'd have other people unlocked, like Darth Maul and his dual sabre. If you played as Mace Windu on Jedi, you'd get the survivor mode at the end. Defeat 100 enemies and get ultimate sabre mode. Were your sabre kills in one hit. That was a bad ass game.
That would be something I'd have to take from JPB, is the block system. The Jedi Knight games you just stood there and as long as your not swinging your gonna block and deflect everything. Here you'd have to hit a block button and you wouldn't be able to just stand there all day.

I want to see realism though. I want to be able to blow off chunks of a Vong cruiser.

All I want is remake of TIE Fighter, but with a squadron commander options like those in serious flight-sims like Falcon series or EF 2000 2.0. Or if we go to simplicity, at least make it with "team" options like Gunship 2000. Also, while scripted mission could make an interesting story (who could forget about the treacherous Admiral Zaarin?), a true dynamic campaign would be nice, where your decision can affect the success or failure of the Empire.
Or maybe a Star Destroyer simulation game resembling the old Microprose's Task Force 1942.
Yup, in computer gaming, I AM an old geezer.
