ANH Detention Area Scene

Post by Techno_Union »

I was rewatching ANH last night (on DVD), and I came to the detention area scene. Now the first time I watched the DVD, I slowed down and watched the entire turbolift door sequence in slow motion, never really watching it normally. Well when I was watching it, I heard a blaster fire less than a second before the turbolift door exploded.

Has this been noticed before?

I remembered the loooong debate in Darkstar's forum about this scene, and how there was the idiotic idea that some fancy tool was used. Well this sound clearly disproves that since in a later scene (about 5-10 secs later), you hear the same sound again when a blaster is fired.

So quite frankly, it can't be anything but a Storm Trooper's blaster that did the damage. Yes, I already know that there is substantial evidence already to support that it was a blaster, but I was still curious to see if this has been brought up. :D

Unless this conversation was had behind the door:

Technition: "Sir, the detonator is in place to blow the door out!"

Trooper: "Good, blow the charge."

Technition: "Uh, how do I do that, sir?"

Trooper: "Right there, the red button"

Technition: "Uhm, I don't get these controls, sir."

Trooper: "Just hit the red button!"

Technition: "Where?"

Trooper: "THERE, you moron!"

Technition: "I still don't see it..."

Trooper: "Oh for the love of..."

*Stormtrooper shoots the technition and presses the button himself*

That explains the weapons fire

LoL!

I assumed that this was blaster fire (it's similar in effect to when Leia blows the hatch to the garbage chute isn't it?). I still say the boarding of Leia's ship is some kind of breaching device, possibly with a fusion cutter and/or sprayable explosive (vs. say, melting through the door like Gui Gon's saber in TPM).

Yeah, it's been up before. I even posted a picture.
Star Trek vs. Star Wars, Extralife style.
